That space basically functioned like a quarantine bin - you were obviously not using what was in there, especially in the back, so it’s not surprising that most of it was easy to get rid of. I love that you’ve been sharing the umbrellas, and all those donated blankets and linens will be appreciated and used. The pain of facing past mistakes is so valuable! The more you feel it, the less you make the same mistakes over again.
I worked on my closet today. I pulled out 11 pairs of pants & jeans and 10 tops and posted them on my local Buy Nothing group. Within a few hours they were given away. It’s a win-win! That was a great looking coffee!!
The closet reminds me of Harry Potter's little room under the stairs. When your child gets a little older, maybe you could make it into a little secret playhouse for him (or her)! 👶
Well done on your “Monica closet” and for pushing through the MS, pregnancy, declutter pain. I pray that the joy of it is great and that there are no repercussions from going overboard. Maybe finding some pullout storage on rollers would make the depth of that closet make accessibility easier and less tasking on your body?
i have a 2yo and im just here to remind you that you can still totally be a minimalist (and an extreme minimalist hehe) with a baby and beyond. be sure to pratice your gift boundaries early though because that has been the hardest bit lol.
Great video! Thanks for the reminder that trash is trash and keeping it doesn’t make it not trash. If it were me I would put storage shelves or a bakers rack on the wall the umbrellas are on if you want to keep being able to stash stuff there when you need to. It would keep stuff off the floor and make it easier to see everything.
Clutter nests develop for everyone! Thanks for sharing! The nursing hones, homeless shelters rehab centers all can uses the extra uneeded items. These individuals arexstarting over!
Hi Elin, First, I hope you are feeling well. Now, about the area under the stairs...o 11:51 n camera, it really didn't look bad at all. From your description, I was expecting that scene out of "Friends". Remember Monica's locked closet? You weren't anywhere close! Lol!
Thanks for sharing Elin! I’m also pregnant (with an autoimmune disease) and although I know our circumstances aren’t identical I felt that outro! 😅❤ Loved your takeaways!!! Taking those into my decluttering: so much stuff has built up since I’ve been down with Hyperemisis Gravadarium and I’m ready to slowly address my clutter nests!!
I have a closet under the stairs. I think mine is a bit bigger than yours, but I organized mine after Christmas. What a mess it was! It felt so good to get it done and to be able to walk in and get what I want.
Oh I forgot you announced you were expecting, congrats! I’ve been having the same pregnant decluttering journey :) I already keep up pretty frequently with decluttering, but I’m using this opportunity to really find the extra spaces in my house that I might not *need* empty now, but am trying to preemptively clear out so there’s even more margin when the baby comes and baby stuff along with it! (:
Always great to watch your videos Elin! Thank you. I have a couple clutter nests that are mostly filled with "just in case" items. (When I saw your extra blankets in this it reminded me : ) Some of it needs to go to our local shelter; for someone who will USE it!! Thks~
❤ Really valuable lessons. Frequently going through a clutter zone helps to get on top of it. Plus learning lessons from previous clutter. I hope to identify and deal with clutter before it happens. Prevention is better than cure. I will be gracious & kind to myself in all of this. You & I are ongoing learning. And something gained is better than nothing. Have a great day. x

Smart!
Decluttering a closet definitely gives you a huge sense of accomplishment
Congratulations!💞
Good luck with your pregnancy.
I got a vacuum for Mother’s Day and it was my favorite! I love to vacuum! Instant clean YAY!
I used to have many of these hidden spaces. I have learned through decluttering to "deal with it now" so it never happens again.
Nice job, Elin! We have a “ cubby” under our stairs as well, and we store our suitcases under ours and that’s it- nothing else. Works well for us. 😊
Smart spot for those!
Thanks for motivation
Maybe add some lighting?
Congratulations on your baby news. So happy for you.
Woohoo! Congrats on baby! You'll be an amazing mom :)
I just enjoy watching all your videos.
Pregnant? Congratulations! 💞
Congrats 🙏🏼 missed the announcement video will need to go back and catch up 🥳
Such a satisfying before and after! You’re going to need that space once the baby comes for sure. Great job! ❤

Loved this video, I would love to see more declutters
I’ve been sorting through photos, declutterring and organising them, it actually is good to take a walk down memory lane! 😊
Congratulations on your upcoming blessed event!
Great video. ❤
Hi Elin! Thanks so much for all of your great videos on minimalism. And for sharing your secret clutter today.
