Love that Shawshank Redemption pen inspired by one of my all time favourite movies. I really hope somehow Tim Robbins discovers this pen and makes a purchase. How cool would that be!
It was good; seeing you. My daughter Robin, really enjoyed talking to Scott Jones at last years' Triangle Pen Show. She bought one of his books and he drew in it, and signed it. Robin is in your video; at 2:04; in the gray jacket. Oh! The Pelikan Twist is an amazing little pen; very smooth and dependable writing mini pen.I really like those Artcraft pens; wish I'd seen those..
That Shawshank pen is epic. I grew up near where the movie was filmed at the Mansfield reformatory. It is a beautiful old prison. In the 80s and some even in the 90s they often had prisoner work crews working in the fields were they used to grow their food.
Thanks for the tour of the show, and for your interest in bringing pen innovations to those of us who can't get there. I found myself wondering if there are ever truly innovative journals presented at the pen shows.
That's a mighty nice haul you got. I have been looking at the Nexus recently, not sure about the metal grip, but it is such a innovative mechanism for a reasonable price. Looking forward to that review. That Shawshank pen is very cool too, I love how so many of your pens have such interesting backstories.
As a german pen enthusiast I am looking forward to the Taschenstift (speak: Tushenshtift, with an i like the i in timber). My three favs would be: SSR, Taschenstift and the capless pen.
The individual details on the Shawshank pen are fascinating. Please tell us more. Glad that the lovely folks from Smrutipens were there. Were their children in attendance? I have several Pelikan Twist pens and they are fun to use, easy to clean, come in a range of cool color combinations, and employ an "orthopedic grip" without shoving it down one's throat. Or hand. Designed for young users, but still clever and interesting enough for adults to enjoy!
I am thinking of going to the Orlando show in September. Having never been to a show before, I really don’t know what to expect. Are pens, inks, and paper cheaper at shows - or is it only the “so much in one place” that is the draw? When you consider that everything you could ever want is on Amazon, are things going to be cheaper - or perhaps even more expensive? Any advice from anyone who knows more than me would be very appreciated!
The Atlanta Show was my first pen show. I own the Art Craft Celtic Dragon pen and really enjoy writing with it. The nib is smooth and I appreciate the girth of the pen. I look forward to your review.
Well done. Your enthusiasm is delightful. Would you be willing to do a vid on your fountain pen collection? As it is extensive - possibly the top 20 to 50 pens
Great review of the show. I was wondering if you knew the name of or website for the gentleman in your video at the 2.27 mark with the vintage spencerian grind pens. I got to play around with a few of his pens and had intended to go back and purchase one but got distracted with all the other shiny things, lol.. I am very much looking forward to all of your upcoming reviews.
I have it in my mind that I’d like to go to my first “pen show” later this year in D.C. with the objective of tracking down a vermillion emperor. Is that something typically found for sale at a pen show? Apologies for the random question - thought you might have a perspective on this approach.
Very interesting pen show. I would like to attend one of these someday. You mention Ben Walsh of Gravitas Pens. I have ordered a pen on the Gravitas Pens website over a month ago, they took my money, but I have yet to receive the pen. I have tried contacting them on the web form and by e-mail, but there was no response whatsoever. I don't know why this happens, but it is very disappointing. It is Order 8113, if it matters. Just so you know.
Thanks for the video. I'd love to go to the Atlanta show someday. The Diplomat vac-filler is my choice for review. Diplomat is a brand I am interested in. Trying to decide between the Ecellence A2 or the Esteem fountain pens. I've only seen one review of the Esteem so far there are several on the Ecellence A2. Price may be the deciding factor for me. Shawshank pen review will be great as well. The latest Kaweco ART Sports are so cool. I wanted one in every color(the Mineral Ice is beautiful!) but I chose one in Hickory Brown .
Your custom Shawshank “shiv” is a priceless pen! I wish you many years of leisurely enjoyment on the coast of Mexico!
Zihuatanejo!!

It is a long time ago that I saw this movie and I am looking forward for a refreshment through this pen!
What if Stephen King bought it???
@21tamuril Yes that would be awesome too!
2:04 Thats my booth! Didnt get a chance to talk to you David. Hope to see you at a future show!

Nice seeing you as well.
It was nice to finally meet you and giving some helpful advice as it was my first show! Cheers and happy inking :)
2:39 Thank you for the mention. It was a pleasure to see you again! I’ll looking forward to your review of the new pen acquisitions. 🙇♂️
Loved the details in the Shawshank Redemption pen, love that movie, it's one of my favorite movies of all time
Shawshank pen is fantastic- would love to see that review. Congrats on your nice score :)

My three favs would be:

Thanks for sharing.
Definitely want to see more about the Hooligan pen, and you didn't actually show us Mikayla's pens...
I am so fascinated by that Diplomat sealing mechanism, I'm really glad you're going to review it. The pen's been on my radar for a while.
As a pocket pen lover, I’d love to see the Hinze and the Supra reviewed. But that diplomat looks great too!
Shawshank is one of my top five movies. Don't make me wait too long for the dragon pens. The Celtic one is my fav.

Great to see you as well!

Thanks for the recap. I’m looking forward to seeing more of the Artstudio pens.
Looking forward on your review of the Artcraft pen's Year of the Dragon👍
The Dani trio.
I want to see a Danny Trejo pen!
Wow!! What a great haul!
Well done. Your enthusiasm is delightful. Would you be willing to do a vid on your fountain pen collection? As it is extensive - possibly the top 20 to 50 pens
@@chuckkolb1270 Thanks. If you search my channel, there are many top 10 lists covering a variety of themes and price ranges.

I'm sorry...I do not know his site. You might check the vendor list on the show website.

There are several retailers who would potentially carry those at DC. I witnessed a retailer sell one in Atlanta.
Very interesting pen show. I would like to attend one of these someday.

I didn't even know we HAD a show
My wife is gonna kill me.
viceroy butterfly from Anderillium is one of my favorite, goes on bright out quickly dries into a easier to read brunt orange
I will be interested in your impressions of the Nexus. It is a unique pen that seems to be widely ignored by most, but I find it intriguing.
Thanks for the video. I'd love to go to the Atlanta show someday.

Will you be at the Raleigh show and/or the DC show? Maybe I can see you at one of those!
I will be at both.
Great video as always. Thanks a lot David. Please Last two Pens on the right to review.
One of those were reviewed last week. 😀
The Danitrio is spectacular. Love to see the review for that one. Did you really spend $12K for it?
It is on loan.
Saludos muy cordiales desde Ecuador
Love the Diplomat Nexus though it's NOT a vacuum filler
Will you be at the chicago pen show?
Not this year. My next will be the Triangle show.
Let me put a plug in for Matthew Chen, a fine nib smith (Matthew's Nibworks), who was there.
I thought the Diplomat Nexus was an eyedropper pen.
It is. I recorded this before my full review of the pen, so I hadn't inked it up yet.
Get it,
Re Cap
I thought I saw you but didn’t want to be a groupie lol I’m glad you had fun
Aww...next time make sure to say hi! Hope you had a good show.
Sir… 12 k dollars? What do you work with? What company do you have ? Can I work for you?😂😅
The pen is on loan. 😁
The Supra looks amazing
