    There's a reason why Belichick is so stoic on the sidelines. He's not wasting valuable energy jumping up and down after every score. Think of a certain frantic someone in Seattle making bad decisions in the final two minutes of the game. Or a team with a 28-3 lead choking. It's all about fatigue. Not just physical fatigue but mental fatigue. If you want to beat the Pats you've got to be able to run a full 4 quarter marathon. SOOOO many teams, all fired up to beat the champs, expend 55%-70% of their energy in the first half. When the 4th Quarter rolls around they, including the coaches, have nothing left in the tank for the final minutes. It's the reason why the Pats have a lousy record in the first QTR of these big games but are just ridiculous in the 4th.

      It has little to do with sideline personality, in my opinion. Belichick plays poker face all game because it works for him and adds an extra level of intimidation, but mimicking him is not going to win the game. In fact, Seattle beat New England the year prior. There are effectively two reasons that Seattle didn't win 49. The first, most obvious one is _that_ play. That's not a Pete Carroll call. I've seen what a Pete Carroll call looks like in that situation, and he handed the keys to LenDale White, and if not for Vince Young being a literal god that night, USC walks out of there with back-to-back national titles to their name. That was a Darrell Bevell call. Seahawks fans have been leery of Bevell for years, because he likes to get cute. His playcalling style often runs counter to the Seahawks' identity as a football team, and he fell into Belichick's trap of foregoing your strength to avoid a mistake. Theoretically, a slant pattern is a good call in that situation, but it's also a) what Belichick is expecting and b) not Marshawn Lynch. Ricardo Lockette was a fantastic special teams player, but his best attribute as a receiver is as a deep threat, so that wasn't even the right wrong call. Belichick must have been busting up internally when he saw Seattle's alignment.
      The second reason which lead to the Patriots' comeback mostly had to do with injuries. Every single member of Seattle's secondary was hurt that day. Every single one; Sherman with arm and heel injuries, Chancellor with a shoulder, Thomas had a leg, I believe, Maxwell was out entirely, Lane broke his leg in the first quarter, Shead was already out, Burley wasn't even dressed for the game for some reason, and Simon had some sort of foot or knee issue, in addition to just being clumsy for a cornerback in general. He was the one who ended up opposite Sherman all game, which, of course, means that Belichick, wisely avoiding Sherman's ball skills and ability to diagnose even the most complex offenses, matches banged-up Tharold Simon up with Julian Edelman. They exploited that matchup all game long, most notably with a pivot route that made Simon look absolutely ridiculous time and time again.
      It was never about Seattle being able to go the distance; even in their best form, they're just as much a 4th quarter team as New England, though for different reasons. The Patriots had a plan of attack, and not only did they get Darrell Bevell to play right into it, but they also got the necessary breaks (lol xd) they needed to exploit their offensive matchups, because Jeremy Lane isn't getting corkscrewed into the ground like that until 2016 when he can't pass a physical anymore.

      @@tripleoo0 ever notice by the forth quarter teams that play Patriots are gassed, nothing left in tanks, that's why they continually win late games, conditioning and studying films are the reasons Patriots win. some teams want it more and will put in more time too achieve that goal, belichick gets that focus by shedding trouble makers and punks then beats them into shape with a superior coaching staff, you ever compare coaching staffs of teams? it's the little behind the seams extras the Patriots do well and they want it more and if somebody wants it just as bad well they have too out work and coach them and I'm sorry but that ain't gonna happen too often

    • @blazekilla5553
      @blazekilla5553 5 лет назад +8

      It also helps that New England loves to start off with long drives that consist of running and short passes. Their goal is to gas the opposing defense while keeping their own well rested. This is why the Pats offense looks unstoppable in the 4th quarter. Also why they're so hard to score on late.

    A great example of pressure with 4-5 and man was Denver's defeat of the Pats. I have always said "get pressure with 4 maybe 5 and play man forcing throws into smaller windows."

    This video is so true, i have lived in New England as a Bears fans and started watching football conveniently since 2001 (not really) and the one thing ive noticed since around the time of their third Super Bowl win is people play so scared against this team. I will say i dont think the Falcons played scared last year. I truly believe they got beat, but this last Jaguars game is a classic example of teams being ultra conservative on offense and defense against New England in the second half of games.
    I am not shocked by either half of last weeks game, the Jaguars have no real experience in the playoffs. Who knows how good the Jags would be with a solid QB and some real coaching. Maybe i am going to hard on them, they had a great first season and i am sure they will be back for blood next season, in fact i doubt we will have to wait till the playoffs to see a rematch. You know the NFL will throw this game onto prime time next season.

    For everyone saying the game was rigged, the Titans got blown out by the Pats and we swept the Jags in the regular season. In the post season, you need coaching. You can ride talent in the regular season like the Steelers did, but in the playoffs, coaching matters. We got blown out because of personnel and coaching and we immediately started fixing it the Monday after losing by firing Murlarkey and quickly finding his replacement. Has the Patriots cheated before? Yes. But so did the Saints by intentionally injuring players. And other teams who have either cheated, or did horrible acts for an advantage. Every NFL team has cheated to some degree, so don't just ride the Patriots ass like they are the only imperfect franchise. And again, I'm a Titans fan.

    This was about to be one of the best videos I have ever watched, but it came crashing down at the end when he tells the Eagles how to beat the Pats. As we know now, the Eagles won - and actually in the style suggested by the narrator. Thankfully they won their 6th ring the next year later to make the Eagles loss less painful. But still this is a great great video and well done. Go Pats

    I'd love to see a video breaking down how stupid punting can be in the NFL, especially when teams punt in the 4th quarter and they are down 3 scores.

    You should do a Aaron Rodgers vs Brett Hundley video. I kinda want to see and understand why exactly Hundley was soo bad, and why Aaron Rodgers is somehow able to carry the whole damn team

      I don't think a video is necessary. One QB has supreme talent (arguably the best ever talent) and the other was a 5th round pick, who was outplayed in preseason by a QB who was later cut by the team.

    Great video as always. It’s a shame that way more sports “fans” watch chumps like Colin Cowherd, when there’s analysts such as yourself that go into the details of each game, picking out the nuances and coming up with conclusions that took actual effort to make.

    I'm a diehard eagles fan it scares me that the patriots' strengths are rub routes because that is the Eagles weakness. Bret has showed this weakness in the Falcons game in the divisional round. However, all year Peterson has proved he does not coach scared. He does not kneel with 30 seconds left in the half. Also, Swartz has blitz more and adjusted when needed. I think we have a shot to win and if we play how we have all season, it will come down to the end.

    • @AB-he8of

      brian092393 He coaches scared against the Seahawks. I’m not a patriots fan but I think Belicheck takes Pederson to school

    • @brian092393
      @brian092393 6 лет назад +2

      bam bam If my memory serves correctly, I don't believe he coached scared but rather, the Seahawks exposed the Eagles weakness which was the rub routes and double moves. He could have coached more aggressively, sure. However, that was the first game the Eagles really got outplayed in over 10 weeks. It's better to look at the entire season and overall, Peterson is not afraid to go for it on fourth downs and call pass plays with 40 second left in the half at their own 25 yard line.

    • @wisemantle8885
      @wisemantle8885 6 лет назад

      We won't do rub routes on all plays though. We will refuse to be predictable. Might even see a heavy dose of run.

      Dan Hawk There's no doubt that the Patriots will be unpredictable. However, I hope the Patriots run the ball a lot. The Eagles have the best run defense in the league.

      We won't run it that much lol. Brady will probably throw 50 times if we're still in it at the end. But you can never second guess BB.

    I've said this for 2 weeks now. The only thing stopping this defense from being a top 5 all time defense is the lack of a Great defensive coach that actually believes in them. Strictly From a talent perspective, they are easily better than many of the all-time great defenses. tying the record for most lineman with 8+ sacks. Having 3 defensive player of the year candidates. a corner that may be the most physically gifted corner (for his size) in decades. Only thing stopping them is that they don't have a buddy Ryan, Mike ditka, Mike zimmer or hell, even a Rex Ryan. It's really sad seeing a team so talented with a coach that doesn't truly believe in them

      JR The Hunter I agree. I mean Ramsey is the best DB I've seen come out of college since Sean Taylor. Taylor was a freak of nature and hit fear in to people. Ramsey can't do that so he just makes it damn near impossible to make a catch.

    I can hardly believe how much I learned from this video. Thank you. I don't have the analysis skills that you have so I have to look for those obvious plays or play which either lost or won the game. I think this game was lost by the Jags due to that delay of game penalty in the first half. Remember, the Jags had taken a decent lead, had the Pats on their heels, and were going to score more points after completing a nice pass to one of their receivers. But a delay was called on Bortles, the pass play was negated and the Jags ended up punting. Of course you can never tell what might have happened, but that penalty seemed to be the pin that punctured the balloon and the Jags never recovered.

    Tremendous breakdown. This is why I hate tv football. Why can't the tv crew producing the games show the defensive back coverages, instead of the tight 7 aligning close to the QB? It would increase audience football IQ dramatically.

    • @Bomberfootball24
      @Bomberfootball24 6 лет назад +1

      David Duez they show all 22 for the national championship and CFB playoff games on espn but it was hard to watch live. But you could go rewatch on Watch espn and study the games

      George Daugherty that's a very arrogant statement

    • @redstar40
      @redstar40 6 лет назад +1

      Kiran Shanker yeah, I am not sure that 100% all-22 would work, but at least giving the viewer the opportunity to see if it is man or zone would be helpful. That's one way Romo (which really surprised me) was bringing good pre-snap analysis, he was reading the defense and explaining what the offense would do. These predictions would be ones a faithful fan could also make if they were able to really do that same read. I also love the end zone look at the 22. You see alignments of defensive line and offensive line splits, something the normal tv view is terrible at showing. I just wished they switched it up more often. Obvious passing situations, that camera ought to pan out at least.

    • @Bomberfootball24
      @Bomberfootball24 6 лет назад

      David Duez for one prime time game, I think it was Titans Steelers, NBC did a solid job with the end zone camera angle and it was really intriguing and entertaining to watch. Some people, even people that know the game weren't as fond of it, but having a sky cam option for every game like that could be in the future
