I know i'm just screaming into the void but I literally have a spotify playlist titled "modern jazz but its good" because there's not as much contemporary stuff that slaps out there. anyway hell yeah
@@alexread4543 same check immanuel wilkins, micah thomas, and jon elbaz some younger cats that are creating some genius music.. the uk stuff is cool but I like the americans because it has the swing sensibility where as the european stuff lacks that type of thing.. nothing wrong with that just preference.. although a lot of the stuff coming put of the uk is heavily influenced by African jazz fusion so its not even really European by origin in sound
@@newjazzunderground Thanks for the recs! US def has some dope stuff that I love but I tend to prefer the afrobeat influenced jazz of sons of kemet, maisha etc. That said the uk has some cats coming thru with more classic jazz vibes. Xhosa cole, emma rawizc come to mind
its good to play "out" but? stay "in"! everyone is listening to each other and putting out something special here! good players sticking to the essentials of this music and keeping it alive! I just did a collage with ornette on tenor
It's not what ya got, it's how you use it. Three dudes, a simple kit, and mindblowing sounds. You guys are a new favorite for sure. Unreal. Amazing stuff.
Paying it forward book recommendation - I just saw Wynton Marsalis at the Massey Hall in Toronto…and someone I met there recommended a book that describes the Jazz vibration as an altered state: “Man Being Volume 2: Go to the Light”. It covers everything from Jazz/Music, dreams, death, the afterlife, time travel, reincarnation, extraterrestrials, Ancient civilizations, Atlantis, Egyptians and the Pyramids. Blew my mind. Highly recommend it. Excerpt: “Jazz is not an accidental art form. There are frequencies in jazz composition that are directing you toward the time travel experience”. - Chapter 9, Man Being Volume 2
Jazz has been my religion since I was born... I really know ab it.. And I can tell you really have talent kids, you really burn the house! Please keep going and light our fires! ..
not sure if its intentional, but have you looked into stabilising the camera? when the bass gets ripping and it lines up juuuuust right with the bass drum especially, it shakes the camera.
@@yesthisisdonut that's why I'm not sure if it's intentional or if they're even aware; and when the fix is as simple as a rubberised, suspended camera mount it couldn't hurt to bring it up
I'm not a regular listener of jazz. But your titles and thumbnails drew me in. Now I'm addicted to your work. I just really wanted to commend you on your presentation in particular. Without it, I would have never given a listen. So happy that I did. Keep up the great stuff.

How can anyone contact you if they have queries regarding a soundtrack or a score?
@@muhuhuhuhuhu yes check out our contacts on our website newjazzunderground.com
Not gonna lie yall are lowkey inspiring as someone who can’t play in a trio bc there’s no other jazz players at my hs
seek out other likeminded young people around you! there are out there .. internet is a great resource
I’m in the same boat dude
The struggle doesn't change. I'm 50 and can't find enough local friends to do music too
I’ll play jazz with you
I love how the camera vibrates from the bass
Crazy trio, Abdias playing with his eyes closed the whole time shows how into it you all are
1:09 the bassist looks at both of them and they all share a smile. Its incredible how in emotionally in tune they are with each other
Reddick has such a simple kit but he knows how to use it so well, i can’t get enough of it!
Agreed but also can someone please buy this man a floor tom?
see, that's called creativity - making the most out of almost nothing! :)
❤
Such a full sound for a "chordless" trio!! Really glad I find your work, keep it up lads :))

You ever listen to jazz coming out of London/the uk? Personally I think theres a lot of really dope and innovative jazz coming out right now

Jamming this full blast at work rn, y'all killin it.
Every time hits plucks the upright with some strength, the camera rumbles. that shit tight asl

"But it's good" is only because folks don't go searching hard enough for the good stuff (like this). It's out there.
exactly
Amazing what the brother can do with such a simple kit 🔥🔥🔥
The 'COOL' is in the groove. ...And , you guys put it there. ...Solid! ...I love it!!!
Brilliant composition. You guys are next level, please keep it up! How is TJ so chill but so great? Binging subtlety back to the groove! Love it!
Underrated, under mic’d, dampen the walls😭
I like the camera shakes when kick hits

I listened to some modern jazz after watching this, and I have to agree with the title.
30 seconds in and im hooked. the three of you play so wonderfully together, thank you for posting these wonderful works ♥️
TJ jumps into the pocket and he don't come out, so expressive with just a ride and hats.
Indeed. Best tenor trio I've heard in years !!

Superb. All three of you demonstrate extreme taste in your choices

This once again proves my theory that bassists write the bassists write the best tunes!
0:56 Something tells me he wanted to play the lick there but reconsidered idk
I'm a listener of big band, but I'm trying to branch out and listen to more smaller combos. I'm really liking your stuff.

Abdias is ridiculous man. What’s your setup
lol video title got me...
и вправду
yes it is GOOD!
not sure if its intentional, but have you looked into stabilising the camera? when the bass gets ripping and it lines up juuuuust right with the bass drum especially, it shakes the camera.
yeah but thats pretty cool, i mean a bass shaking the room is the only legit reason for shaky shots

How many sounds can that drummer get out of that ride cymbal!?

Interesting that you guys changed the video titles, can I ask why?
i change my mind every 2 seconds lol
@@newjazzunderground and again! You guys are too funny :')
2:42 some panning glitch or intentional?
our sound equipment glitched for a sec and had to switch to iphone sound and back
Glad to see the day some of that bebop coming back strong with the younger generation. You guys are murdering it, amazing talent.
can i use it as a sample? i do rap shit bro poland greetings
!
👌😎☝🤓👍
I just realized that if the jazz legends from back in the day had youtube they'd be jamming out there for sure like you guys
The little syncopated fill at 1:48 is so punchy and clean, I replayed it like 20 times

super happy to hear it.. that is exactly what we are trying to do .. thanks so much for listening
Lol same
It’s dope seeing young black men doing actual jazz in 2022, I’m glad someone’s keeping it alive
Good is an understatement. I've only recently heard your guys's stuff, but it is fantastic. Keep it up!
Youre not only underrated but on a different level of greatness!! I could only hope to once play on your level
glad the bass seems a bit louder in the mix this time! love your work.
I'm like wanting to jump through the screen to put more mic on the basssssssssssssss.
I get chills every time Sebastian hits the open low string
TJ and Sebastian are on an astral plane together. All killin
Oh nah this one was super smooth. Fantastic job guys!
Coltrane would be proud
These guys are legendary, that was a magnificent piece
Stylistically these guys are on point, no corny synths or gimmicks
Synth are cool tho 😥😥😥
You guys simple can't upload a bad tune. This one was another masterpiece!
I like the drumming kit, less is more like in the old days. 🙏🥁
