I worked at a glass bottle factory which was built in the mid 60s and those machines were there then. The blobs of molten glass were known as 'gobs'... the clip of the paddle feeding the raw materials into the furnace, that part was known as 'the doghouse' great memories were brought back watching this 😊👍🏻
In witch place...??

Its Friday night and I'm watching a glass making video. This is the life I always dreamed about.

Wow 😝😝 me too, it's friday night 😆😆😆😆😆
I'm so happy to find this video. Watching the process without a voice over explaining each step was a refreshing way to learn. Great job on this.
I worked as a contractor in one of them places back in the 70`s,,,That place was filthy and noisey,, and we were there to clean the place up "WHILE" it was in operation

That is messed up. Is it possible to do it safely?

Very fantastic and high industrial machinized process
Outstanding fabulous
You can find a similar video how glass bottles were made in the 1930s, the process is similar but far more mechanical duo to lack of robotics back then but holy shit, they really did invent almost all the manufacturing processes back in the early 20th century.

I collect, dig and sell antique bottles from before the machine made era, which is about 1915 or so. Antique bottles are incredibly more beautiful than machine made crap bottles. But, the fucking engineering that went into making these machines is just as beautiful and incredible as handmade antique bottles.

Could someone explain something? How does it go from a solid billet to a hollowed bottle, without a core in the mold?
At 1:14 to 1:20 you will see that the red hot glass is very quickly lifted out of one mould, travels through an arc (half moon) where it is inverted and placed into a second mould. It is in the first mould that it is hollowed out, not sure whether by a spike or compressed air.
So, in the first mould, the bottle is upside down, and in the second right way up.
Hope this helps... I saw the process twice in the late 1970's and it was fascinating to watch.
A plunger comes up from beneath into the blank mold and shoots air in to make a blank. It is transfered to the mold side where it is again blown with air from the blowhead above to create final bottle form.
Thanks to brains behind this robotic process. The human minds can do wonders.👍
Fascinating! Thanks for the vid! Can't imagine how loud and hot that factory is.
Nice modern tech!😃
I always find the actual manufacturing process to be so much more intriguing than the actual product itself
Thinking about the engineering behind this scares me and makes me happy I chose finance. This is crazy efficient.
