Christ teaches the actions for us to better emulate him & gain a better appreciation of His love and actions to do likewise. So much love. So many insights this week. Looking at James as a "backstage pass", dispelling the either/or construct of faith and works, reminding me that the epistles are written to those (like us?) living in a pagan world; reminding me that sometimes I am talking before I know what I am talking about; the connection from Jacob to the 12 tribes to Joseph Smith and the gathering of Israel. Thank you. I have been well taught.

When it comes to the horse and the ship I think one of the most important things that Jesus Christ shows us is that we literally just have to choose the lord, and the Lord is good and the Lord is love and literally everything else will follow behind us and we won't have to have fought for tomorrow or what we eat or what we drink we just do what is right, and the rest will follow and that is Faith and it's hard

I enjoyed reading your comment about choosing the Lord. I have horses. Horses can be moved in any direction with a bit, even while standing still, and while moving. That little “bit”, is powerful, especially in experienced & trusted hands, and more so, if the horse is willing.

We are the one that has the reins for our horse or our life through our choices but it is the single I to God the straight and narrow that we should choose the good and choose the right and everything else comes right along without thought besides the thought of choosing the right. It is so simple that it's difficult. That's why we are told basically not to overthink. Becoming one heart and one mind is so simple because it's just a single eye to God which is all that is good and love, but getting rid of the noise in the background is hard, especially in this busy busy world with a million things were supposed to think about, it's hectic and so so easy to get completely distracted from the absolute simplest of the Lord Jesus Christ God and the right way

But I cannot conceive the belief that we will ever be an equal to Christ as it is through His sacrifice we, if repentance, etc., we are offered His Atonement in our efforts. Please give a source or scripture on the “equal”. That is a new concept for me. Thank you. I appreciate your videos.

I have many Evangelical friends (whom I love) that say to me constantly that " The Bible is the end-all and be-all. It is ALL the TRUTH. We need nothing else". But then, when they get to James (who is the brother of Jesus, a formidable leader of the Church and an apostle) they shun James? Why? If they say The Bible is the end-all and be-all, why refuse and shun James which is an integral part of the Bible? Why only pick the Epistles that sound convenient and comfortable to them? Why pick and choose? They also tell me that when James said: "Faith without works is dead" is wrong. (huh? I thought the Bible was ALL truth?). They tell me that what James "meant to say" was: "Dead Faith without works is dead". Ummmm. There is no discussion of "dead faith" in the Bible. Either you have faith or you have not. Hebrews 6 and 9 talked about "dead works" but not about "dead faith". And James repeatedly talked about Faith and Works together in his Epistle, so he did no make a mistake. Paul also talked about WORKS together with FAITH. Paul did NOT talk EXCLUSIVELY ONLY talk about FAITH. There is no such thing as 'dead faith". In fact, Jesus taught about faith as very tiny as a "mustard seed". There is NO "negative faith". But there can be faith as very small as a mustard seed to begin with.

I’ve thought about that too, and remember the scripture, (paraphrased) a prophet isn’t recognized in his own city. It seems when Jesus Christ, was crucified, died, and resurrected, some of his family finally got it. People like musicians and artists can become more famous after they die too. I actually appreciate my parents more, since they have passed away, and find myself quoting them.

Pithy means concise and full of meaning. This is accurate for the book of James. It has a negative connotation right now because some on social media use their intelligence and skill with words as a weapon to tear others down or show off their intelligence. Similar to the way honesty is a good thing, but with bad intention can be used to hurt others.
