It's important to remember that although we have been blessed with a living Prophet whose personal character is beyond human measure...
we should not tare down the reputation of the past Prophets. Although many had reputations that are less than becoming from the perspective of the members of the church. Its important to remember not to judge. Many things are hidden. Only God knows the truth of all things.
These are meant to be lessons for the generations. And make no mistake, hard times are coming. The Church may 'steady the ark', but the storms are coming. I look forward to hearing this next general conference. It's absolutely my favorite time of the year. Each talk is spot on, and is 100% inspired by the Holy Spirit of God.

The Family Proclamation was 30 years ago, but I'd dare say it is a quintessential prophesy and forewarning, pretty obviously a warning and strength for many of the issues being argued today. It was given at a time when people shrugged it off because saying things like "marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children." and "Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose."
      Pretty prophetic words imo

      Thank you for your reply.
Yes, 20 years ago many people including myself saw societal changes coming, and warned about possible consequences,( as this church president did), and have unfortunately seen way too many come to pass.
I ask again can you please give a list of unmistakable and specific prophesies by LDS prophets, and their specific fulfilment in the last ( for instance) 20 years.
How many prophets does the church have at any one time, is it 12?
Do you have a you tube video listing all of Joseph Smith's specific prophesies and their fulfilment, l know the church also calls him a prophet of God, so l assume it has the evidence.
Thank you for helping me and I'm sure others who are interested obtaining credible evidence that these are God's prophets.
      Kind regards.

@@geoffnoyes520 Before one came up with 'a list', one would have to define what one considered a 'prophecy' - how specific does one have to be? Who decides when it is fulfilled? What are the criteria for labeling something one way or the other? When do you put it in the 'inspired by God' category, and when do you say (like you just did) 'anyone could have seen that coming'?
Then when it comes to historic prophecies, one has to do the same thing in addition to determining the veracity of which accounts to believe, as 10 accounts of the same words said will differ from a very little to significant amount.
So if you want to put together concrete definitions and said list, by all means. But I would dare say most disagreements would happen on the individual details of each individual claim, and no group of any size would ever come to an exact agreement on what constitutes 'the definitive list'.

If the Mormon church believes that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God, (and they do of course), they really should have solid indesputable evidence to show to the world, and be eager to convince sceptics.
The Mormon church bases it claims to authenticity and Godly authority primarily on their claims that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God.
Biblicaly, a prophet of God is someone who says they are one of God's anointed prophets, and prophesies specific future events, with "thus saith the Lord" ( Joseph Smith did numerous times), and achieve 100% accuracy, that is the biblical standard.
Joseph Smith claimed the mantle of prophet, his prophesies were recorded by his devoted followers, expecting them to come to pass.
I have his (almost all) failed prophesies in print and they are publicly available on line.
How do you expect people to trust and follow the prophet when you refuse or are unable to give written sources authenticating your churche's claims for him?.
If you have nothing verifiable on Joseph Smith can you please give examples of specific prophesies and their verified fulfilment given by LDS prophets in the last 20 years.
The holy Bible is characterized by prolific and specific prophesies, these are the seal of God on his word, how many specific prophesies are found in Joseph Smith's BOM.?
      Thank you for your help.
      Kind regards.

Actually... Whole civilizations were destroyed THROUGHOUT all scriptures every time societies fell into great sin and DISBELIEF..
Moses, Noah and his ark, etc...
Joseph Smith was slandered as well by unbelievers and even murdered by people who had the SAME evil spirit as those who murdered Jesus Christ (who ALSO had committed no crime but to tell the TRUTH).
WO unto them that fight against Zion...
      Isaiah 29:7
All Joseph Smith DID was what Jesus Christ told him to do after he read James 1:5.
Joseph Smith READ THE BIBLE, and DID GOD'S WILL (obeyed his commandments), yet that just makes people even MORE angry...
Just like the angry mob who rather let a MURDERER go free and then brutally crucify the Son of God!
THAT makes as much sense as all of you naysayers and how you treat today's faithful servants of God!

Why is priesthood necessary to make a promise with God?

    • @holliewilliams4881
      @holliewilliams4881 Год назад +4

The Priesthood is the authority to act in God’s name. If we are making promises with God through covenants, it is through and only through the power of the priesthood. If you are making promises with God as a personal growth or in following the commandments, you are under the priesthood because of baptism and or temple covenants. I think this is a great question. Sometimes I wish that we had situations that were under the same simplicity of the priesthood, such as setting a budget or making a decision on what car to buy. If our vehicles never broke down because we had the priesthood promises, we’d never have to worry about a car breaking down. Obviously this isn’t the same as making promises to God. In the scriptures, God establishes covenants with his people, in order to bless them. The rainbow is a covenantal promise that God will not flood the earth again. It can be viewed as just a simple act of science that we see a rainbow when it rains, or we can see through the covenantal eyes and have peace and comfort knowing that rainbows have been a witness and covenant, through the priesthood, since the time of Noah. That promise is very powerful and is very special to me.

    • @geoffnoyes520

      Hello Jason.
According to the Bible there is a Royal priesthood of all believers in Christ Jesus.!
There is also the priesthood of the order of Melchizedek, this is the personal priesthood of Jesus Christ himself, only he can hold it, and it is his eternally according to the holy Bible, see
      Heb 4:14, Heb 5: 9-10. Heb 7:24-25, Heb 8:-1-2,
      1Tim 2:5
It is impossible for Mormons ( or anyone else) to hold that position, only Jesus Christ himself.
The Arronic priesthood was a Jewish old testament priesthood concerned with carrying out God's requirements under the old covenant in the temple at Jerusalem, Mormons believe that they possess this priesthood, but they can't and don't, biblicaly it's impossible.
You, or anyone else can make promises to God, you do it in
Prayer, no one needs a churche's authority to pray.
But remember, we humans make and break promises,
but it is only the promises of the lord that are steadfast and sure !.
      Kind regards to you.

When you seek answers from the Book of Mormon instead of the Bible, God can't help you because you have turned your back on Him. Therefore this leaves the door open for Satan (II Corinthians 11:14-15) to step into your life with a false christ or prophet showing you signs and wonders to lead you away from the real Jesus of the Bible who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity. God Himself warns us about this in MATTHEW 24:23-24 "Then if anyone says to you, Look, here is the Christ! or There! do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect..."
Mormons teach and believe that their jesus is the brother of Satan, which contradicts what God says in His Bible that Jesus is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity.
So Mormons, which Jesus do you believe in?
    A. Your jesus of the Book of Mormon, who is the brother of Satan.
    OR
    B. The Jesus of the Bible, who is God the Son 2nd person of the Trinity.

Matthew is a great book! To continue quoting from the book of Mathew in chapter 7, we have:
15 ¶ Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth devil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
So, I would invite you to 'come and see' - see what the fruits of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are - see what the fruits of an open study of the Book of Mormon are.
And speaking of which, the Trinity is never named within the Bible, it is only in the Creeds hundreds of years after Christ and His Apostles do we get talk of the Trinity. Now if you want to interpret that theology into the Bible, you are welcome to, but by that same standard one could easily read the Bible and find a different interpretation.
The good news is I also believe that Jesus is the Christ, who is God the Son, the Son of God, our Savior and Redeemer.

Example what do these scripture mean
A voice will come forth out of the dust ?
Or The spirit of Elijah will turn the hearts of the father's and the father's to the sons if it weren't so the whole earth would be destroyed?

      @MRRANDOMZ11
Well, you need to read the following Bible verse that the Mormon church has hidden from you regarding this subject of discussion.
God gives us all the right to question anyone/church claiming to be of God. Let's hear what God Himself says about this in:
      I JOHN 4:1
"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world..."
      I THESSALONIANS 5:21
"Test all things; hold fast what is good..."
The Mormon church doesn't like to be tested because there is no evidence to support anything in the Book of Mormon.
So throw away the Book of Mormon, find a good Bible base church and read the Bible instead. If you do this, God promises this to you:
      JOHN 8:32
And you shall KNOW the truth, and the truth shall make you free..."

@@AlbertJLouie If only there were religious leaders at some sort of world wide conference who encouraged daily scripture study, and sent out missionaries to the four corners of the earth with an invitation to read the Book of Mormon and test it's validity by asking God. That would for sure be a Church that was all about 'testing'.
And you know, if someone wanted to like do an in depth study on the Bible looking for Temple Themes or something, that would be pretty convincing evidence that enitre books of scripture weren't being 'hidden'.

You shall have no other gods before you. Jesus, Lord and Jesus is all you need. Joseph Smith was just a man and not a martyr. Joseph Smith was shot and fell out the window in a jail cell. Jesus went to the slaughter. That's why he's called the Lamb of God because he went willingly, but Joseph Smith was snuck in a revolver into his jail cell. He fought his way because he did not want to die.

      martyr /mär′tər/
      noun
One who chooses to suffer death rather than renounce religious principles.
It would seem by your very assertion that Joseph Smith was indeed a martyr. And the good news is that we agree that "Joseph Smith was just a man" and that while he (like all prophets) are a type of Christ, that he wasn't a perfect shadow/type - there is only One Who is perfect. But much like Christ asked "Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.", I think that lines up perfectly with a prophet of God being willing to give his life, but not necessarily wanting to in the moment.
