      I tend to agree, if the pilots knew about the dangerous cargo and lithium batteries (it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to put those fires out in this kind of situation!) I would have expected that I wouldn't make it back to land and would have to ditch ASAP so you still have control of the plane. Sure your chances might be slim but far better than a nose dive uncontrolled crash.

    I'm not surprised at all that the cause was Lithium Ion batteries. The crash was around the time that those batteries were rather unstable. Ware houses were burning down due to Lithium Ion batteries spontaneously combusting. I'm willing to believe the fire was caused by the cell phones that had said batteries in them because that was mainly the thing that was causing these batteries to catch fire at the time even when they were turned off.

  • @browndd

    It seems to me that equipment like Black box's and data recorders and such (I don't know the technical terms). Should be designed or upgraded in such a way as to allow them to be in constant communication with satellites. That way there would be a safe and secure off-site record of events. It seems kind of foolish with today's technology to rely on equipment inside the aircraft that may well be destroyed, damaged or simply lost in the event of a crash.

    • @flipnap2112
      @flipnap2112 5 лет назад +2

      i would think the amount of upgrade and cost to do something like that wouldnt be feasible, especially since these kinds of accidents are relatively rare.

    • @browndd
      @browndd 5 лет назад

      @@flipnap2112 Yeah I know they're pretty rare. But I'm not so sure that the cost would be prohibitive enough to prevent its implementation. If they had to build and launch a network of new satellites then sure it would probably be way too expensive.
      But we don't need to build any new satellites. All that we would need is access to satellites that are capable of receiving and relaying information which is basically all of them.
      And in terms of modifications to aircraft, it would require next to none. Because most aircraft are already equipped with radar systems. And in case you didn't know radar works by transmitting microwaves and then waiting for the microwaves to bounce off of objects and back to the emitter. And it also just so happens that microwaves are the same exact thing that we use to communicate with satellites in orbit.
