I am greatfull for these documentaries. Although the footage is old, it was aquired with unbelievable effort and dedication and truly documents wildlife. Most recent documentaries are just edited and directed, human point of view.
So true ! I’ve noticed lots will take clips from entirely separate events as well. They don’t make documentaries like they used to

I cried when I heard some bastard shot the Alpha Female #540... The White Princess (my personal name for her). She led with love and yet a somewhat brutal approach....R.I.P MY SWEET PRINCESS!!
I absolutely cant stand the more recent documentaries, they are lazy and just pieced together clips from entirely different events with completly different animals. Some are so lazy with it even a child couldn't be fooled. I saw one where they were "following" a cheetah family and in one clip the kittens were all small enough to still have silver fur on their backs then in the next clip they all were twice the size and fully spotted then in the next clip they are back to being tiny with silver fur. Makes me not even want to watch documentaries anymore they just seem stupid now.

Well, that was about the most depressing way to end such a touching documentary, but that black wolf went on to become a legend in Yellowstone.

The look of defeat as the white wolf just sat there in her own pool of blood, her mate dead, and the rest of her pack either dead or left to fend for themselves. She very well knew that she wouldn’t be alive long, so she just puts her head down and closes her eyes.
It’s crazy as humans to see wolves live everyday very well knowing that it could be there last with wars like these possibly being just around the corner. Nature is insane!

This documentary is so entertaining. I have loved wolves since I was 4, and I'm 19 now and that love is still growing strong. I truly believe they are my spirit animal. Wolves are the most majestic and intelligent creature in my opinion. Their inner pack-work is so fascinating to watch as they create and grow bonds with their members. The way the alpha pair displays hierarchy is also another really interesting thing about them. The pups have to learn this at a young age. because it will come in handy later on. I'm glad I found this. Thank you, Real Wild!
There's a short video here on YT called "How Wolves Change Rivers". If you haven't seen it, (it's not very long), check it out. Really fascinating. I haven't even watched the video above yet, but I'm planning on it in a few minutes. Although I may have seen it before, I watch nature/wildlife docs over again. I just enjoy them so much if they're done well.

@@RosieyAlexus One swipe of a bear paw is the end of a wolf, and wolves have a very tough time getting through bear fur to do any damage. They may be able to kill him with lots of luck but not after losing most members of the pack.

O Hipopótamo nome q provêm do Grego Antigo, e Significa "Cavalo do Rio" gosto muito dos Hipopótamos e Não pela beleza, pois NÃO são tão bonitos assim. Mas Admiro MUITO os Hipopótamos por serem Animais que impõe respeito, até os animais que estão no topo da Cadeia alimentar como os Leões e os Crocodilos respeitam os Hipopótamos, os Leões só atacam à um Hipopótamo Adulto, se estiverem em Bando e Geralmente o Bando Completo para abater um Hipopótamo Adulto e MESMO assim com GRANDES riscos de um dos leões serem gravemente ferido e até morto como inclusive já aconteceu muitas vezes. Portanto um único Leão por mais Forte e Grande que seja, Não se atreve a atacar sozinho, a um Hipopótamo Adulto. e a mesma coisa os Crocodilos, até os Maiores da espécie Não se atrevem a atacar sozinho, à um Hipopótamo Adulto. Já foi filmado Hipopótamos colocando até os Grandes e temidos Tubarões das espécies Tigre e Touro para "correr" ou melhor dizendo para Nadar fugindo rs Estes Tubarões tem a Capacidade de Viver MUITO tempo em Rios de água doce, eles entram pelos grandes e médios rios que deságuam no mar. O Hipopótamo vive em média entre 40 à 50 anos. O Período de Gestação é de 243 dias, tendo apenas um filhote. Mas em casos raros em que a mãe Hipopótamo tem DOIS filhotes, ela abandona um. O Macho dominante agrupa entre 07 a 30 fêmeas e jovens crias. tanto o acasalamento como o parto ocorrem na água. Só o Macho Dominante tem o direito de Acasalar com as fêmeas, mas vez ou outra o Macho Dominante é Desafiado em um Luta q muitas vezes É até a morte, por um macho que vive no grupo dos Machos, e quando o Macho Dominante é Derrotado, o Macho Vencedor mata todos os filhotes. a Mesma coisa acontece com os Leões, quando um "Novo Rei" assumi o Bando ele mata todos os filhotes. O reino animal as vezes é cruel e em muitos casos dentro da própria espécie, e quase sempre são os filhotes que pagam o preço. O Hipopótamo Macho tem em média o Peso: entre 1.650 à 1.800 Kg. Adulto, e a Fêmea entre 1.340 à 1.550 Kg. Adulto, a Altura de ambos Macho e Fêmea chega em média entre 1,5 m, até ao ombro. O comprimento, É em média, de 3,5 m, Sua velocidade em (terra) é entre 42 à 48 Km/h. O Hipopótamo não esta nem entre os 12 animais mais Velozes do Mundo, Claro. Mas esta Velocidade É considerada pelos Pesquisadores Altíssima levando em Consideração o Tamanho e Principalmente o Grande Peso do Animal, e eles conseguem manter esta incrível velocidade em terra mais Tempo q uma pessoa consegue manter sua velocidade máxima, q É em média 12 à 17 Km/h. Os Hipopótamos embora se alimentem PRINCIPALMENTE de capim, ervas, e algumas plantas aquáticas, mas DIFERENTE do q MUITOS pensam eles tbm comem algumas VEZES durante o Ano Carne. OBS: embora eles façam isso APENAS em casos de Necessidade como por Ex: na época q tem pouco capim. ou em casos AINDA MAIS extremos, como numa Seca onde o Capim e etc.. diminuem Ainda mais. Então os Hipopótamos precisam complementar o restante do alimento necessário com carne de qualquer animal q eles tem a oportunidade de matar inclusive Crocodilos. Então os Hipopótamos não são Herbívoros e sim (Omnívoro) ou Seja comem tanto Alimentos de Origem vegetal, como de origem animal. Os Hipopótamos podem ficar até 5 minutos submersos de baixo d,água sem respirar. já houve registros de Grandes Machos ficando até 7 minutos Submersos de baixo d,água. e eles correm dentro d'água no fundo dos rios e são extremamente rápidos podendo chegar a uma Velocidade entre 9 à 11 Km/h. e NÃO é por acaso q os Hipopótamos são Animais temidos até por Predadores, pois além de ter muita Força física por causa de seu Peso e Tamanho tbm tem Presas enormes com até 40 cm, de comprimento, e afiadíssimas como Espadas. e uma das Mordidas mais Poderosas e Fortes do Reino Animal na (4°) Posição, Apenas TRÊS espécies de animais tem a Mordida MAIS FORTE q a do Hipopótamo, e as três são espécies de Crocodilos. porém o Hipopótamo é o animal com a Mordida MAIS FORTE entre os Mamíferos, com uma mordida em média entre ( 803 à 816 ) kg de Força. OBS: o único Animal que o Hipopótamo respeita e de certa forma até os teme, É o Elefante por causa de sua Grande Força e Tamanho. Os Elefantes são Simplesmente os Maiores e mais Pesados animais terrestres. Os Hipopótamos são MUITO Perigosos até para os seres humanos, nenhum outro Animal, mata tantas pessoas quanto os Hipopótamos, com cerca de 240 à 260 mortes por ano causadas por Ataques de Hipopótamos. em SEGUNDO LUGAR vem os Crocodilos q causam a morte de cerca de 215 à 225 pessoas por ano. e em TERCEIRO LUGAR vem os Leões q causam a morte de cerca de 110 à 120 pessoas por ano. OBS: estes números Sempre estão sendo Atualizados anualmente, as vezes para mais MORTES de pessoas por Ano do que a média, e as vezes com menos MORTES por Ano do que a média em consequência dos Ataques destes animais, mas os Hipopótamos Sempre aparecem no topo da lista dos animais q mais matam humanos, e estão um Bom tempo em "PRIMEIRO LUGAR ". Portanto se alguém um dia for na África pense duas vezes antes de chegar perto demais de um Hipopótamo, ainda que estejam dentro d'água pois eles podem sair rapidinho. Agora o meu 2° Animal Preferido o Cachorro Selvagem Africano tbm Conhecido como "Mabeco " é da Família dos Canídeos. um fato Curioso sobre o Cachorro Selvagem Africano, é que o nome Científico dá espécie: (Lycaon pictus) Significa "Lobo Pintado" ou Seja o Mabeco ou Cachorro Selvagem Africano tem um nome diferente do nome Científico. Gosto muito dos Mabecos pois Além de serem Lindos, São Muito inteligentes, trabalham em equipe nas Caçadas com cada membro da matilha "jogando bem na sua posição" Eles caçam em grupo e começam assustando manadas para separar um indivíduo mais debilitado, Caçam desde de animais pequenos como as Gazelas a animais de médio e Grande porte Como Gnus, Zebras, e até em casos não muito comuns Búfalos. Mas as presas Preferidas dos Mabecos São os Empalas. eles tem Estratégias diferentes Nas Caçadas mudam de acordo com a necessidade e tbm de acordo com o tipo de presa q estão Caçando. as duas estratégias de Caça mais usadas pelos mabecos são a Embosca, mas Principalmente a perseguição Implacável a Presa. nesta Estratégia eles se dividem em pequenos Grupos que se revezam, com cada grupo longe um do outro; a medida que um dos grupo se Cansam, os outros grupos que estão posicionados bem mais a frente, assumem a PERSEGUIÇÃO e assim Sucessivamente, eles mordem a parte traseira da presa até que ela fique exausta e desista. OBS: este tipo de Estratégia de Caça que é Considerada pelos Pesquisadores como uma das MAIS inteligentes e eficazes entre Predadores, Só é vista entre os Mabecos. e Com CERTEZA esta estratégia específica de caça aliada a União e ao trabalho coordenado em equipe é o Principal motivo do GRANDE Sucesso DOS Mabecos nas Caçadas. eles são os Predadores com MAIOR taxa de Sucesso com Cerca de 88% à 90% nenhum outro Predador é tão bem Sucedido nas Caçadas quanto eles. O 2° É o Lobo com 76%. e 3° o Chita cm 68%. Os Mabecos tbm tem Costumes e hábitos q não vemos em nenhuma outra espécie de Predador. Como Ex: antes das Caçadas eles fazem um tipo de "cerimônia " de Cumprimento uns com os outros, através do (tato e voz) para animar e aumentar a empolgação na Caçada 🙂 É mais ou menos como uma equipe Esportiva faz antes de um Jogo Importante e decisivo. Os Mabecos são muito amáveis uns com os outros os mais Jovens e os mais experientes das Caçadas Alimentam não apenas os filhotes regogitando Carne, mas alimentam tbm os membros da Matilha q estão machucados e impossibilitados de caçar por algum motivo; e alimentam tbm aos membros mais velhos da matilha q NÃO conseguem mais caçar. OBS: este tipo de Comportamento NÃO é Visto em nenhuma outra espécie de Predador mesmo aqueles q vivem em grupos, Bandos, clãs, Alcatéias, matilhas e etc.. e os Mabecos NUNCA ou quase nunca brigam entre si, Só é Comum brigarem COM matilhas rivais da mesma espécie, q Geralmente é por território de Caça. Mas membros da mesma Matilha difícilmente brigam, nem mesmo por alimento. E na hora de escolher o novo Casal Chefes da Matilha quando os atuais já são Velhos, que Sempre são dois o Macho e a Fêmea alfa, eles escolhem o Novo Casal líder, através de uma espécie de "votação" ou "Assembleia" mas uma vez esse tipo de Comportamento na hora de escolher os Novos Chefes sem Violência e Brigas sangrentas, só é vista nos Cães Selvagens Africanos. diferente de TODOS os outros Predadores que é através de Violentas e sangrentas brigas à disputa pela liderança, e muitas vezes até a morte. Como vemos em Todos os Predadores que Vivem em Grupos, Bandos, Clãs, matilhas etc.. e de acordo com os Pesquisadores Os Mabecos tbm DECIDEM no " voto " a hora de sair para Caçar, a estratégia q será usada na Caça, e qual presa vão Caçar. Isso É Simplesmente Incrível 🙂 Os Cães Selvagens Africanos são formidáveis amo eles♥️ o Mabeco É o Predador Africano com Maior risco de extinção. Hoje vivem d 5 a 7 mil na África.
Great comment however wolves are still predators and though they may not hunt larger prey more than they need to they’ll still opportunistically kill smaller animals and do have a biological to do so, hence why one of the reasons they don’t make good pets for most people (even when well fed they may make a cat or small dog disappear).

@@Lucifer934 they have the ability to do so but majority of lone wolves would likely avoid hunting larger breeds as there is a legitimate risk involved.

There's a documentary about arctic wolves. Great one. There's an amazing series of six short documentaries about a wolf named Storm. Only bad thing is that it's too short.

This is literally the best wolf documentary I’ve ever watched. So sad that wolves were eliminated in Yellowstone back in the 1920s. Makes no sense other than for their fur. But at least we are trying to make amends by introducing Canadian wolves.
It's a good documentary. However, it's annoying how they cut out scenes. I wanted to see what happened to the bear cubs and the wolf being chased by the two coyotes.

@@toptwitchclipz7928 After wolves were eliminated from Yellowstone there was an explosion in Elk population that ruined the vegetation. Predators are an important part of maintaining a balance of everything.
Personally I’m grateful that I can let my children and pets play in the back yard without worrying about a pack of wolves killing them and eating their corpses, but that’s just me.

i find it so impressive how well wolves can move thru their environment.. they're perfectly evolved to conquer the territory given..
it's incredible how smart/confident bears are to realize, wolves understand b'c they're in a pack finding or achieving a kill, is much easier to do rather than fighting off a bear from a kill. but the bear also knows he'd be in the fight of his/ or her life if they were to invade one of the wolves dens...
in the wild it would seem; the time to fight against a powerful opponent has to out weigh the alternative of not defending their territory/den.. there's a deadly song and dance animals play in the wild, depending upon how desperate things have gotten will determine the animals risk taking mitigation & evaluation..
the wild animal kingdom must be a fascinating/scary place to grow up in..

The most mind-blowing thing about the wolves being reintroduced to Yellowstone was that they literally changed the geography. The deer and elk populations were out of control and the wolves began to cull these herds which led to an explosion of more grasslands, which in turn led to more vegetation that brought things like berries and flowers which in turn brought more critters that feed on and live in that type of habitat. Because of the increase in vegetation the rivers stop eroding so much because the grass strengthened the shorelines thus a deepening and strengthening of the rivers happened. The entire habitat exploded in new wildlife drawn by the fresh streams and new vegetation to make homes and feed on literally dozens of species that hadn't been seen in that area returned and began driving all because they reintroduced a few dozen wolves. It's amazing, nature.

Watching this again a year later and it still depressed me for losing the white wolf and her mate. If humans are not careful we will lose wolves again and everyone knows what happens then. Just recently walked down to Yellowstone river right off of grand loop road on our vacation this past September. Not sure why I stopped at this spot, I got out and sat on a log by the river. All of the sudden two wolves stroll right in front of me on the other side of the bank. They hang out for about 10 minutes and continue on. A local saw them after about 5 minutes and joined me on the river bank. He says, man you were extremely lucky to see these 2 up close for this long. I still have goosebumps thinking about how fortunate and lucky I was that day.

Good documentary and great photography/video. Even the narrator/voice-over is clear and smooth. Wolves are one of my top favorite animals. They are wonderful creatures of nature and with fascinating social structure. When I see a wolf (and I have seen one) all I want is to come and pet him, hug him and be with him, but let us not forget that behind this cute face and amazing eyes dwells a killing machine, and a top predator, as been designed by nature. They kill pray, they kill coyotes they deem as competitors, and I guess they kill one another. It was a sad ending to this documentary, as we kind of got acquainted with White Wolf and her mate, and we got to like them. But I guess this is nature, the strong wins. And life continues.

The wolf is one of my favorite animals. A lot of people look at them as blood thirsty creatures. They are just trying to survive like everyone else. You don't hear a whole lot of stories about wolves attacking humans. Now bears that's a different story. Not only do they attack humans but they've been know to eat them as well. Wolves live in a pack as a family. They take care of their young first and also take care of the old and hurt. I wish more people would educate themselves about wolves instead of just killing them. They are beautiful animals. I love them. Especially the pups. ❤

A wolf can watch you and follow you in the wild for two days or more without you not knowing..

Great documentary!! The ending was harsh but that is nature, and shows a great example of wolves limiting their own numbers and why wolf hunting is not needed!
I dont think theres another animal in history which has been more demonized than the wolf, they are amazing apex predators and im glad theyre making a comeback around the US, even tho many states still insist on hunting them.

I know they had to let the course of nature happen itself, but it stuns me that the people recording this did not immediately rush over to White Wolf to help her! It really broke me watching her close her eyes and submit to death, what an intense documentary!
They are trained with the Golden rule of not interfering with nature. As professionals they must hold no matter how badly they want to help.
I would have found that so difficult, it really shattered me watching the poor thing suffer like that!
They can't interfere with nature no matter how much suffering the animal is going through.
That's the problem, they can't interfere no matter how much they want to help, it would be very unfair to the other wolves because as you know, in nature there are no good or bad.
Why would they go help. Then the wolf may attack them
This was a wonderful video except was it necessary to tell us all about this pack for nearly an hour only to show it torn apart at the end? That was heartwrenching.
@@YNP_Wolf_Lover yes but it wasn't necessary to produce the story in such a way that the viewer becomes invested in the pack that loses the fight. It could have as easily been written about the pack that won.

Damn that black pup definitely turned out to be one beast of a wolf when full grown, at 5 months it looked almost as big as the full grown females! Wolves have always been the most impressive animals and predators in the world in my opinion.
