I've played under some pretty bad GMs. I've had my own bad GM moments. But never in the history of ever have I run across an Iris of this level. I don't understand how Iris even had players return for the second session, let alone THIS many sessions.

I think everyone especially a new DM or player can have bad moments but I think it’s repeated bad behavior or a lack of wanting to be a team player that makes someone a “problem player”

@@lootgoblinmarketplace Definitely. I would have dipped out as soon as Iris was calling while they knew I was at work. If someone can't even give me basic human respect and is actively trying to get me to lose my job...nah. That tells me a LOT about a person.

Trust me when I say this isn’t normal. I find most that horror stories tend to involve someone who would be bad at communication regardless of the hobby of D&D… and more times than not an outright criminal when it comes to some of these nsfw behaviors.

this kind of things are very rare. typically the worst you have to deal with is struggling to get a schedule together and someone who accidentally does something slightly annoying and if you calmly communicate you can solve the problem.

Yeah I really liked Ozo’s work. Iris is using D&D as some kind of power trip. It’s the only thing that makes sense to me

As has been stated many times in this series already they all should have left WAY SOONER that being said no RPG is always better than bad RPG! I've left groups before for much less then all this.
No words can truly express how much I feel bad for these players!

The more horror stories I watch the more I begin to wonder how many of them actually happened. And how much of the ones that are true are exaggerated? It's not like the authors are remotely unbiased in any case.

You’re right and it’s always important to keep in mind that it is always only one side of the story. I like to read them because it allows me to see what can be avoided and a bit of morbid curiosity. These stories make me feel grateful I haven’t ever had it this bad.

I've been playing D&D for roughly 40 years. Original box set in 4th grade from my aunti and uncle was the spring board. I've played with some odd folks, and even a few rather toxic ones. Across the board with these endless horror stories, the theme is people putting up with shit I never would have. Not in a million years. Life is too short to waste time on a D&D group that isnt fun.
I've only actually bailed a group a handful of times when the DM sucked and there was no hope for the campaign. Short fuse on those, 2-3 sessions tops. Mind, I've got lots of patience for new DM's and have always encouraged the players in my campaigns to try it out... but a truly bad DM like the one in this vid? Hard pass. When it comes to obnoxious players, most of the time just having a spine and letting people know I'm not someone who is going to put up with that bullshit does the trick. I have not had to kick anyone out of my campaigns, and have not had to leave a campaign as a player because of another player yet. There have, however, been a couple players so offended by the word "no" they either rage quit or just stopped coming.
Don't be afraid to stick up for yourselves! It's perfectly OK to risk offending someone who is being a jerk by TELLING them they are being a jerk and need to stop. Your gaming group will be SO much more fun when petty bullshit and pointless drama is a no go.

That’s very good advice. All these would be dealbreakers at a table that I’d take a part in, and that’s before we take into account the NSFW stuff from the previous video!

I think not starting if the whole party isn't there is fair
If you make it clear to your players that it's an expectation
With a lot of DND games though there will always be one or two players who cant really make time for the session every week and will likely just not be able to keep going and that's fine imo.

... Ok so freshly rested and from part 1.
Part 1 brought me to the conclusion that something awful happened to Iris in her past. She has a very inappropriate view of sexuality and consent and seems to have normalized SA in her mind and uses DnD to try and express these things, then when the script doesnt go the way she wants she crashes the game and starts over. This to me speaks to something awful having happened in her past and her brain has tried to normalize it, and she seeks control so she can both normalize it and feel safe. She replays it in D and D kinda like a security blanket. Contrary to popular memes, D&D does NOT make for good therapy.
Part 2 General issues: Shows us much more social maladaptation she is very socially needy and kinda clearly is relying on her friends as social crutches and has developed inapropriate relationships (On her end) with them. Variance rules on rests.... thats just a dislike. Most people don't use those rules, but meh. Same with whatever encumbrance rules she was using. She clearly has control issues and this reinforces my belief that something very awful happened to this girl as a child. That's not an excuse for what shes done, but it is a reason to help understand it. The distance issues, the hypoicrisy the near harassment; all speak of someone whose developmental cycles were severely if not violently interrupted.
Part 2: A not so Gentle Repose: Initial impression, 2 shotting the barb.... that just happens sometimes. DMs make a bad call on a monster's appropriateness, then rolls well on the dice. Jersus christ that is the exact opposite of what happened here. Annnd yeah more controlling, torment, and very volatile reactions. At this point I am surprised IRIS stuck around for this.
Iris is clearly an awful DM, but Im also distracted by what I am reading in her behaviours. Iris if you are out there reading this; I do not know what happened to you but you need to talk to someone. Life can be so wonderful even for you even still; you can have amazing friends and relationships but whatever happened seems to have robbed you of the development on how to have those things. But these things rarely get better on their own, please reach out to a therapist or someone to talk to about things. I know theres a lot of negative mental health stigma about therapists but when your car is broke you go to a mechanic, when your physichal body is broke you go to a doctor. When you have mental health or developmental issues you need to see professionals for those situations. If you cant afford a therapist, there are often local counselors at a variety of institutions that can at least help.

Ya OP deserves a DM like Iris. They just double down on all their bad decisions then have the audacity to claim they are victims of Iris. You ignored all the red flags for what seemed like years and then keep creating situations for Iris to creep everyone out. No sympathy for me, OP needs a spine.
