It has been the butt of many jokes, and dare we say, may even have been a catalyst for the proliferation of the Islamic faith, as we have come to learn while filming this documentary that many connoisseurs of this delectable confection have been introduced to Islam and have developed deep affections toward the Muslim community.

I'm a straight up white boy metalhead from the Baltimore hood, and I've carried a taste for this wonderful pie all my life. Now I live in Seattle and am looking for a proper place to buy some. Bean pie is also a complete testament to the power of food to bring cultures together and erase social boundaries.
It's really quite magical.
I tell you what...these pies sustained me so many days in my life while I was in NYC.They saved my life many times, and I always thank Allah for the Nation of Islam for offering them too whomever came up white or black and wanted a few (YOU HAD TO HAVE AT LEAST TWO BECAUSE THEY WERE SO GOOD)!

After service at the masjiff is when I first ate bean pie my father took me once my parents were divorced at the time. As a family we never attended church 1 time the entire family. The first time I went with mom I was in my 20's. I attended service with my friends for a time that is when I was baptized and a friend named tucker.
I am a non muslim american white woman but I saw some bean pies and had no idea what the heck it was but I think I will try it now.

Man I lived in Harlem back in early 80s and always bought them from the brothers. I love the bean pie. Its a great dessert and healthy or more healthy than typical garbage we usually eat.

It's been years since I've eaten bean pie, and it's surprising that the store where I'm from that sells groceries consumed by people from the Middle East doesn't carry it. Is the Bean Pie not popular in places like Jordan or Palestine?

If you live in the Washington, DC area, Masjid Muhammad usually has venders that sell them, or where ever you are, try to find a local Mosque (particularly in the African American community) that sells them. Good luck and thanks for your feedback.

I used to see these young colored boys wearing a blazer,white shirt and bow tie. Always selling bean pies at traffic lights.I dunno bout their cause,but those bean were good ! Gave me gas,though.
