    That's a great tutorial. Just wanted to add one thing: you can even get away without splitters - simply use the 1x jack stereo (TRS) -> 2x mono (TS) cable(s). Stereo jack goes into the module, and mono jacks go into pads and cymbals. Since you have to buy additional cable for your extra cymbal it may also be slightly cheaper option. Obviously you need to figure out which one is the head and which one is the rim, but there aren't too many combinations you need to check. This was actually easier for me as I couldn't find those splitters anywhere near my location.

      Hi, hope you see this...you mention: " 1x jack stereo (TRS) -> 2x mono (TS) cable(s)." but I can't find any online...do you have a link? that would be most helpful....amazon preferably. Thank you.

    Same set here. I used some headphone splitters and mirrored one of the crash cymbals, the ride (I like to ride with both right and left hands) and the HH, which is fully controlled with the left foot. I stole the floor tom rim and added a 9" splash with a full splitter. Best thing is all my rims but one are active. It's a beast.

    The reason they are marked is because it is splitting a TRS into TS. There as two inputs to the module (TIP and RING). If you used a standard Y adapter, the two single zone (TS/TIP ONLY) inputs send a signal to the same TIP connection on the (TRS) module connection.
    When they separate them for eDrum use, they wire the tip and ring connection from the module side, to separate pins on the Y-cable, one drum sends a signal to the Tip, the other drum sends a signal to the Ring. They don't actually NEED to be labeled, one will be head and one rim, pretty straight forward, but if you have tricky access to ports on your kit, labeling means you get it right every time the first time.

      Me too. But I actually even prefer the guitar center brand more. As the plug is shorter that goes into the module. I don't even think drum splitters makes their splitters. I think they buy them in bulk from china and then put labels on them. And the labels are very susceptible to sweat. I would honestly rather just buy the cheaper ones and label them myself.

    Great topic. Thanks for taking the time to post another tech video. Alright! So I'm trying to figure out your cymbal collection here. It seems to change every few videos. That or I'm just losing it. Either/or! But this is what I'm guessing you're running:
    - Roland Vh-11 hi-hat top and controller with the Alesis 12" hi-hat bottom underneath?
    - Are you using the ATV AD-C18 ride from the review video?
    - If so, then I guess you've just rearranged the remaining stock Alesis Strike Pro kit cymbal pads (4) around your kit.
    - Looks like there's still one more pad that I can't account for. Is that the Alesis 12" hi-hat top? Or some other pad?
    I would very much like to see a video run down of "why" you use this selection of pads compared to your past videos, what you're splitting (you kinda noted that in this video though), and maybe the direction of where you would like to have your cymbal setup if you're still building on it as it is now. Yeah, no idea why this keeps me up at night as I don't even have this kit yet, but it's great to see in advance what works and doesn't. Looking forward to following the path you've laid our here once I start though. I always dig the technical topics you've put out on this kit, so keep it up!

      james shuler sounds good! The cy8s make a great HiHat and they're super durable. I would only recommend to split off one of the high toms first because you're more likely to keep time on the floor tom and hit a splash with your left hand than keeping time on a high tom but either way should be alright.

    Hey, hope you see this. Can you split the triggers for the toms and cymbals I’m the TD17, or is it solely able to split the crash3 and aux input? Also, is it best to use a male input splitter with two female ends, or split out from the drums and into a female connecting to the original drum cable?

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  5 лет назад

      You can only split the toms and "I think" the aux input but I can't guarantee that.
      The splitters you can get whichever one you like. I like the male end into two female but the other one is just female into two female like if you wanted to use it in the middle somewhere but I think going directly from the module is usually a little cleaner that's why I use those. Both work fine though (from www.drumsplitters.com)

    I just bought the alesis dm10 mkii pro kit. I used a Y splitter on tom 4 to add a cymbal. I assigned the cymbal sound i wanted from the tom 4 rim. The cymbal works perfect except when i strike tom 4 i get both the cymbal and the tom sound. Can anyone help me!?

      @@GhostofGenX I just bought 2 splashes and 2 splitters, I’m kinda worried because I don’t understand how the drum brain will recognize the cymbal as the tom rim. I understand setting up the kit and changing the rim tone to a splash tone but I don’t see how it will know the “rim” is being hit and not the drum. Unless there’s something I’m not grasping lol

      Not really, when you assaign the rim part to another pad.
      But don't forget, both zones can't sound at the same time, they exclude each other.

    Hey dude. I have got Hosa splitters, but cannot get it to work for some reason. I split it off of Tom 1 and the additional cymbal I bought, but it just shows up as "Tom Head" and never comes up as "Tom Rim" (when I put note chase on). Any suggestions? It's like its duplicating it rather than splitting...

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios  5 лет назад +1

      Damn. Well that is why I don't recommend those splitters. You're not the first person to have trouble with them. They're not made for e drums and don't have that capacitor thing in there. Sorry but I think it's just the splitter.

    Does anybody know if Ride 2 input cable works as a further cymbal or pad?

    • @HamsteroidOver
      @HamsteroidOver 2 года назад +1

      Probably not. Cymbals mostly work in a different way even if cables look the same as for toms. Dual zone toms have 2 triggers for 2 sounds, dual zone cymbals on the other hand have 1 trigger for 1 sound and 1 switch for the choke. Depending on brand/module it varies but in most cases it doesn't work.
