That's why he can't return to the future. Anyhow, given how time is fluid so it adapts i.e his comment to the waiter may be what spurs him into starting a band. Both he and the lady may have been mostly insignificant for the timeline. I would imagine theý would have laws and protocols governing such things...

@Black Knight - Or maybe she find someone before, but she lost him and she never could forget him... Women can love someone forever.
A little missed opportunity I just thought about - it would have been a nice bit of foreshadowing if, at the very beginning when the camera is looking through the window at them (and pans past the name of the restaurant), if they had included something like "Established in 2017" implying the place recently opened, but then a few minutes later the guy comments about "coming here for years"
He couldn't actually have been coming there for years, since he told her he arrived in her time period two weeks ago. And he couldn't have traveled back in time to visit the restaurant multiple times because he says it's a one-way trip, due to the "whole disrupting the fabric of time thing." Unless, of course, the restaurant still exists in his time period.
@@chapelgrovefilms I was under the impression that his comment about going there for years was BEFORE he time-traveled - that the restaurant had been around for years (in his timeline) and that's why he'd been coming there for a long while. Maybe he'd been there as a boy or a young adult.
I guess the one thing that I didn't understand was all of his "quirks" treating her like she was still the elderly lady he knew from the future. I mean, I get that he knew her from the nursing home, but any normal person knows how to adjust their behavior given different scenarios. He knew the woman he was dating wasn't elderly or senile, why would he treat her that way. It just made it seem like he'd never been with any woman ever before in life. Yep, thought the same. Last exchange was his concern for her dental hygiene. He needs to change gears fast given they’re headed to her apartment for a “sleep over” haha. But, given it’s a short film, the writers deserve a little leeway.
I didn't think of that until you said it. But like yea, and it feels a lot like he loves the old her, and the younger version of her. It's like dating a thirty year old but still treating them like their 10 cause maybe u met them at that age. That just undermines a persons actual self, and it rlly doesn't feel good
Oh thank the gods, its a non depressing 'not set in an apocalyptic wasteland' sci fi time travel without a mind numbing 'heres why THIS time travel worked' exposition . . . . .its a very lovely and sweet love story to be with a surprise cameo . . . . . . I give this 5 stars for not having Aliens or wide screen shots of post nuclear devastation and no layered or hidden subtext messages that bludgeon you with their ries of "ITS SYMBOLIC MAN!! DID YOU GET THE SYMBOLISM MAN!!!". THOROUGHLY entertaining and a satisfying ending.
This certainly is a first. A movie about the future where the time traveler is not AI, a cyborg, a criminal or , or a disease carrier, Or some kind of savior. He's an ordinary kindhearted person of the type that would seem to be impossible to cultivate in the future based on other movies.
Really needed a sweet time travel romance right now.... took me out of the darkness for 10:25 minutes~ thought it was gonna suck to be honest, but, nice work and thank you creators!
A perfect short film, beautifully produced. the direction, blocking, cutting, cinematography were excellent....and the actors were great, both convincing, the Holy Grail of acting. A model film all would-be filmers should see. The actors are Emily Bell and Ron Morehouse....good chemistry!
The person who conceived of this idea must have had some nursing home experience seeing how many lives ended with old age, and wanting to go back in time to help make their lives end better. Great stuff!
Unrelated and quite personal, but seeing someone being so loved and adored despite being a hotel worker made me tear up a bit. I grew up internalizing a message “you don’t deserve love unless you have a high-rank office job” from my parents. This kinda gives me hope, even if it’s just fictional story.
Anyone can be loved, but it is true that career and money matters too. It’s just that all the variables have to be balanced, women need support so naturally they subconsciously look for a man who is financially able to support them. They’re not trying to be mean, it’s just a basic survival instinct.
So what? He's still helping an alternate version of the woman he loves, with equal worth and value, while leaving his home timeline untouched and unharmed by potential timeline meddling.
Mark Ramos also because 1- she likes him (she was ready to sleep with him and she accepted a date) and 2 - he proved his feelings by doing something incredibly dangerous only to spend one evening with her. I would lake a chance with that kind of man too.

It would have to, otherwise she wouldn't be in the nursing home for her to meet Stuart and cause him to go back in time. That would also explain why they get along so well because despite her dementia, a part of her knows who he is, but not enough to make the connection.
Excellent premise. Straightforward and believable. He became smitten with his elderly patient. Despite their age difference he believed she was his soulmate. Some may find this strange, inappropriate or even perverse. But, I feel that she was the love of his life, just born at the wrong time. He traveled back in time to give her a brighter future and a better life... That's true love.
I'm just saying, technically, she doesn't need him to change her future, now that she knows the outcomes, she could make different decisions to avoid them.
Would like to say, this was excellently written, acted and filmed. A lot better than the previous short I just watched, which had the last two elements. Having a coherent plot and idea is an important first step, the next step is the ability to quickly get over one or two concepts in such a short time. You guys nailed it and need to help educate your fellow producers, both new and the big producers in Hollywood. Very well done.
What a beautiful short film. Thank you so much for this. 10 minutes filled with mixed emotions, wonderful job by the actors both main and supportings, great photography, awesome color warmth, simple yet wholesome storyline. Just the contemporary fairytale many have craved for. Kudos!
This. This is the Hallmark Channel version of science fiction. That's going to be a big genre in the days to come. It became the biggest in the 2050s, you know.
I thought that was French Stuart. Ron actually looks like a younger version of him. I really liked this a lot. the small mannerisms the timing, everything worked so well. A great video.
Imagine meeting someone from the future, and being like "ewww, I end up an old, retired hotel worker without children?" instead of asking how they stopped global warming, or what happened with wars in the Middle East? or maybe they're not allowed to talk about stuff that could alter the course of history? It's really cute how he fawns over her tho :P
Great film. One helluva twist would be that the boyfriend from the future was actually a pickup artist that uses the app to hook up with women from the past. What a minute.....I might be on to something :)
Brilliant innovative movie. She's gorgeous and doesnt waste a second, doing fascinating facial and voice expressions. He's a good actor too, and it's a good original story. Why don't you guys make a full length movie ? You can't do worse than "Sharknado" or thousands of Hollywood and Netflix slop.

How can this be a DUST video? There must have been a mistake! Somebody at DUST is going to be fired for this...
Not to be repeated until next February? So we can face another year of Zombies, government and corporate storm-troopers, post-apocalyptic deserts, mass death, blown-up planets -- all of them entirely without coherent plots? Guys -- Chill out. Take meds, perhaps multiple anti-depressants. Even with The Donald in the White House, and North Korea building rockets and bombs, not everything is crazy or doom-and-gloom.
"You are a creep and I´ll see you in 50 years" My life story.
Spoilers are awesome.
Dont look in the comments then, why are you doing it to YOURSELF?
@@sanjafilipovic8584 lol
Word brotha.....word
Brian Walendy why are you in the comments section before watching the video then you dumb fuck?
This certainly is a first. A movie about the future where the time traveler is not AI, a cyborg, a criminal or , or a disease carrier, Or some kind of savior. He's an ordinary kindhearted person of the type that would seem to be impossible to cultivate in the future based on other movies.
Yeah, simply creative
LOVED IT! "I just really want you to take better care of your teeth this time around." "Stuart, no! Not okay! Not okay!" Great comic actors!!!
Bradley Dilling Do you really think that she will be able to put up with his relentless care-taker mode? I don’t think so :/
Really needed a sweet time travel romance right now.... took me out of the darkness for 10:25 minutes~ thought it was gonna suck to be honest, but, nice work and thank you creators!
Yes, nice to have a scifi short with a happy ending--well, quirky and not dark anyway.
Check out the film About Time.
hannah4042 that shit made me cry
A perfect short film, beautifully produced. the direction, blocking, cutting, cinematography were excellent....and the actors were great, both convincing, the Holy Grail of acting. A model film all would-be filmers should see.
The actors are Emily Bell and Ron Morehouse....good chemistry!
May this become a series please! Great actors, love the plot - nice job!
This is actually one of the best short Sci-Fi films out there.
The person who conceived of this idea must have had some nursing home experience seeing how many lives ended with old age, and wanting to go back in time to help make their lives end better. Great stuff!
Creativity and Budget are two different roads ..... I see a Proof right in front of me
Unrelated and quite personal, but seeing someone being so loved and adored despite being a hotel worker made me tear up a bit.
@DARK APPARITION Yes, but love is not enough when it comes to finding a spouse.
@DARK APPARITION thank you for the kind words, it lifted my spirits :)
That is terrible advice.
Ignore them.
Hey buddy, you deserve to be loved despite of your career and stufff... 🖤keep going...
3rd Rock was one of my favourite shows! French Stewart’s character was the best! Interesting short story!
I thought the twist was that she would go out with the waiter when she found out he was going to be successful.
Certainly more logical, ....but then he did look a bit gay!
I thought the twist would be that he shacked up with the waiter after getting rejected by the girl XD
@@ulyssesbutterfly6697 Exactly!!
@@ulyssesbutterfly6697 same LoL
I thought the twist was that he was gay and had slept with the waiter before
the future is not changed, they created alternate future now, the one where the man marries her and the one doesn't...
Bingo!
So what? He's still helping an alternate version of the woman he loves, with equal worth and value, while leaving his home timeline untouched and unharmed by potential timeline meddling.
Yeah you could morally justify killing someone in an alternate timeline with this logic.
@@chrisdawson1776 No, because that alternate timeline person is just like the person in the original and should thus have the same rights.
'I think you're an amazing old woman.' XD
The acting here is amazing. I've seen this one before, but it sure is worth a re-watch.
4:17 minutes in and all his weird quirks are explained, I love it
So happy, because I thought he was going to say that he's bisexual or she's the first woman he's tried to be with...
This short film portrayed the concept very nicely, and with emotion so it was relatable. Keep it up!
One of the BEST Dust shorts, EVER!
she only went with him because it would change the future :(
Mark Ramos also because 1- she likes him (she was ready to sleep with him and she accepted a date) and 2 - he proved his feelings by doing something incredibly dangerous only to spend one evening with her. I would lake a chance with that kind of man too.
@@carinecampier - He left behind everything in his life for her literally, that's the most romantic thing someone can do. This guy have an stoneheart if he can see it. XD hahaha. One of my favorite movies is "Somewhere in Time" with Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeves, so i love this short =)
Why does anybody do anything except to change the future?
Well she actually like him already even before the big reveal
if they change the future, he would not have met her in 2075, and hence would not be here now to change the future with her.
I was expecting a plot twist where her final choice of dating him actually leads to the future she is trying to change.
It would have to, otherwise she wouldn't be in the nursing home for her to meet Stuart and cause him to go back in time. That would also explain why they get along so well because despite her dementia, a part of her knows who he is, but not enough to make the connection.
Still no children after being married for 15yrs, because he didn't realise that time-travel fries your testicles!
There's no dark happening here
I thought that too..
@@stevie-ray2020 Damn, I wish they'd told me that BEFORE!
I used to be a carer in a nursing home. This premise really gave me the feels, but also creeped me out so much.
I'm just saying, technically, she doesn't need him to change her future, now that she knows the outcomes, she could make different decisions to avoid them.
She did!
She did.
And she did. She gave him a chance. If it will change anything, it's another matter.
It is the concept of a guy who is so dedicated and would make sacrifices and would not want her for superficial things.
@@davethepak It's oneitis concept. Very damaging.

Kudos!
Amazing. Interesting story line. Very good acting. The 11 thumbs down people recorded as of today must be competitors.
Very refreshing, sweet little story. Science Fiction but without the seemingly requisite death/destruction/evil/misery. Thank you!
without "you have to save the world theme."
This. This is the Hallmark Channel version of science fiction. That's going to be a big genre in the days to come. It became the biggest in the 2050s, you know.
Don't forget the future is always a dystopia.
Y'all just see bad sci-fi/ huh? Well that's your problem that you can't find some normal movies/series cause they EXIST
“Aw poodle-doo, aw poodle-baby Stuart” got a good chuckle out of me 😂😭
I thought that was French Stuart. Ron actually looks like a younger version of him.
I really liked this a lot. the small mannerisms the timing, everything worked so well.
A great video.
Oni Raptor That was French Stewart-the app robot guy? Yes, that was him.
That was him!! He's one of my favorite actors.
I could watch a series of them. Cute concept
Absolutely!!!
Omg, me too!
Nice actors
Well maybe a couple...but any more ....nah
Well you can watch dark
Imagine meeting someone from the future, and being like "ewww, I end up an old, retired hotel worker without children?" instead of asking how they stopped global warming, or what happened with wars in the Middle East? or maybe they're not allowed to talk about stuff that could alter the course of history?
It's really cute how he fawns over her tho :P
This is not just good, its great!
Great film. One helluva twist would be that the boyfriend from the future was actually a pickup artist that uses the app to hook up with women from the past. What a minute.....I might be on to something :)
This is absolutely one of my favorites, well written, very well acted. This one's awesome. Thanks for this one. Wished it was longer
I so would have been eating both of those spaghetti and meat ball servings when she walked back in! :)

LOL
Do you know that in italy there's not a real recipe for spaghetti and meatballs? Spaghetti and meatballs don't mix in italian restaurants....but if you are a sicilian (like me) who likes meatball with tomato souce (sugo) you can sometime put them toghether with spaghetti...yes we in our family do that! Ah...and don't eat pasta with beans with cheese on top...not an Italian thing neither!
LOL!!!

He does that everytime so that she remembers. Because she kept forgetting it, even when she was older.
He’s used to her being hard of hearing 😂
And she forgot it again even when she is young.

Oh my gosh! This was so very cute & cleverly done with such a surprisingly happy ending! You need to make this into a SERIES because it would be so much fun! Great job DUST!
That is so much better than the average DUST script. My compliments to Warich especially. Male lead (Morehouse?) was also very good.

I love it. This could be a series. That being said it was both sweet and unsettling, but I was moved. Well done.
I think this is the first Dust offering that hit the spot for me.
I though he was gonna say "Katie, I'm a robot!"
Me too
How can this be a DUST video? It had a coherent and beautifully written story, the characters were likable, the ending paid off -- and there were no Zombies, no government or corporate storm-troopers, no post-apocalyptic desert, and no mass death!
There must have been a mistake! Somebody at DUST is going to be fired for this...
Think of it as a Valentine's treat from DUST.
Offer a prize for the best comedy Science Fiction.
(By the way, stop calling it "Sci Fi" -- that term was invented by Hollywood B-movie producers in the 1950s to describe the genre of "The Blob" or "The Rabbit That Ate Cleveland" or "Don't Touch That Ugly Plant!".
Or, somebody could do a B-movie parody, like "Brain Dead."
As I said, chill out!
Scott Adler, it's still sci fi. 😃
I've only seen one dust video that had an incoherent plot. They tend to not be so obvious as this though to get you to think about the situations.
@@rhinovirus2225 Totally agree. They are coherent, just takes some thinking. Though I do wish more had happy endings like this one. The "Hope" short was in particular rather misnamed. Well done though, as many are.
This is a once in a blue moon kind of sci-fi short film that has a good ending. Good film. If the comment made by Meilo is true then surely this will go away from my best sci-fi short films list
