Not sure if you’ve updated your gearing since this vid, but I just finished lifting my 04 avalanche a few weeks ago and while I had the axles out (3.73 gears) I swapped in a set of axles that had 4.10s. I’m also on 35”s but with 17” wheels and acceleration feels effortless with the 4.10s. Wish I could have compared to the 3.73s but with timing it made the most sense to swap the axles when I did the lift. I’ve got a channel too, I’m up in western pa. Nice gauge cluster man. Good looking truck. I’ve got a 2011 Sierra with 3.42’s running 33’s. Rear end is starting to make some noise so I’m thinking of changing to 3.73’s. Helpful video thanks

Mine does just fine ACCEPT for overdrive. That’s when it needs a bit lower gear in the axles. It wants to downshift at slightest grade like I’m dragging a trailer behind me. The first 3 gears are fine but OD needs a bit more rpm at 55mph and up. I have 6 inch lift with 35x12.50s 4.8 V8 and 3:73. The 4.8 doesn’t have good low rpm torque and wants to wind up high to make its power ( shorter stroke than 5.3 but same bore size). I’m thinking 4:11 should be plenty but might go 4:56. This truck isn’t for interstate travel anyhow. Oh it’s a 2001 regular cab step side Z71

Honestly I can't give you an accurate answer because my speedometer isn't right. Still need a programmer and custom tune. Yes it feels very close to stock. It does tack a little higher on the interstate. About 2300 at 75mph

4:10 for 35 for these trucks and 4:56 for 37. My buddy has 37 4:56 and roast like nothing. My old Tahoe had 4:10 and 35s and it was best for it.

Nice video man. My 04 with 6" and 33s is due for some gearing. My fuel mileage is crap, average is 12mpg. Would like 14mpg average with the little 33"s. I would love 35s to finish the look off. I think 4.56 is what will deliver that.

Watching this reminded me of my 04 1500 4or 5.3 373 with gbomb. After pcm tune ,I thought it was fast then swapped a lq9 tuned and thought it was fast too. Current 15 Silverado 5.3 is having lifters and camshaft replaced thanks to AFM . been driving a rental 2019 Expidetion Mac 3.5 4x4 373 gears. This school bus easily gaps all 3 of my experiences with the Silverado/Sierra platform. Only way to make them turds roll.out is to boost and or nitrous. Then upgrade to 4l80 and hope the hubs stay in lol. I'm sold on Ford. Watched a tuned 2.7 f150 walk a Denali 6.2 373 gears.....I'm also getting around 20mpg hand calculated

My old mid eighties chevy shortened had 3.73 and 35' s and lifted with a hopped up carburated 350v8 and I got 14mpg. My newer chevy with stock wheels and 3.08 only gets 12.6 mpg. Would going with 3.73 change my fuel economy making it better? I occasionally tow a small 12' trailer and I'd thought maybe a gear swap would help.

3.73s on a 08 with a 4l80e and 35s, like 1600 ish at 60, but a straight pig 0-40. Thats a decked set of 243 heads, ss2 cam, flat top pistons, long tube headers, 3" duals with x pipe. Motor has less than 700 miles on fresh built 5.3. Have 4.56s on the way, this truck is a monster rolling 40mph pull, but that 0-40 is like a herd of turtles in peanut butter!
