The trick for Wattpad is to avoid the books that have millions of reads, go for those books that are more unnoticed. Most of the top-quality books I've read on wattpad are the ones that have 1k - 20k.

Speaking as a long-time writer on Wattpad, don't limit yourself to 20k reads. There are many good books that have a 100k or more. It's not about the number of views, anyways. It's about the content of a story and the quality of its plot and characters. The only way to judge it is by reading it.

I've found some of my favorite books on Wattpad, mostly fanfiction, but it's such a shame that they get so overlooked. I honestly don't get why these cliches are so popular. When I do read cliches, it's by a good author, and with an actual twist. Like instead of Harry Potter's twin sister its, Harry Potter's older brother who is in Hufflepuff who dates Cedric Diggory. Now that's way more interesting than a red haired, hazel eyed Slytherin Potter girl falling for Draco Malfoy. I've seen that way to many times and it's all become the same plot.

Okay that ratalouis part actually had me crying legit tears I was laughing so hard. Why couldn't we have gotten a trilogy of THAT instead of fifty shades??? "He was a fat rat who lived in a dumpster" I'm still dying ohhh my god
But foreal though I feel sites like this are so bad because people have these weird, toxic fantasies that they should rationalize as unhealthy and discard, but then they find people who have the same weird toxic fantasies and then they think "Oh if I'm not the only one then this must be valid!" And instead of improving themselves they write shitty stories for all their weirdo internet friends to read and purchase when they publish it.
Except for ratalouis of course, which is my new favourite novel of all time

It talked some time to realize the good books from the bad on Wattpad. It's usually some key points:
× Check for any cliche words in the title or description
Eg: Bad Boy, Good Girl, Street Fighter etc.
( Please Note: Some books with these words are actually good but in the start seem cliche)
    × Check the ratings
Usually the books on the top spot are good.
× If you find a books description boring. Try reading it's first chapter and if you like the way it's written, keep reading!
× Check the comments. Sometimes rereaders will mention what the book was like for them.
× If you really like a certain book, check for more written by the author. You will probably like them if you prefer the authors writing style
    And lastly,
    × Ask people.
Many commenters usually have really good recommendations.

      4) Is it safe? Well, in general sure. For kids? Not really, since there can be some mature content within the books you read, but kids use it anyway.
      5) Yes, you do have to create a username/profile to read, but you don't necessarily have to decorate it or comment or anything.

Like I've said before, Wattpad has a terrible filtering system. There are a heap of cliche and bad books on Wattpad that will hit you in the face if you are a first time visitor. This is only because the demographics of Wattpad are *mostly* tweens and young adults. Because of this, when you first enter Wattpad, you will be hit in the face with books that have garnered the most popularity or the books that appeal the most to a majority of the target audience.
I'm not saying that all the popular books are bad, I'm just saying that most of them are. For me, the only way to find books that are readable are through reader awards (excluding the Wattys, because that's just a popularity contest), the clubs (You can find thi through clicking Community, then Clubs) or go to wattpadwriters.com , review books, and through Wattpad Picks (which you can find by clicking 'Discover' and looking through the last column which is in blue).
Wattpad is a great site, that allows novice writers to practice their writing and marketing skills . It also gives writers the opputunity to get published for their work. I don't think it's unfair for you to criticize them for vast quantity of books that lack substance, originality, and grammar. I know that to most people it seems like a trashy writing site, but I promise that if you delve a bit deeper you can find hidden gems that genuinely deserve to get published.

What I’ve come to realize criteria for Wattpad books...
    -virgin mousey innocent girl
    -bad boy (fights and/or races)
    -both have underlying issues
-something brings them closer and they fall for each other
-one of them will fight the “love”
-boy will be controlling and borderline abusive
-girl is incredibly insecure and jealous
    And a happy ending‼️

Valeria Velazqueezz I said hate but I really disliked her because she used to exaggerate everything and I notice this now but I don’t think I liked the author’s writing style. Cole was incredibly unrealistic and she didn’t even appreciate him after they started dating (she hated him before which is understandable because he was horrible to her). I honestly can’t pinpoint the exact reason but I think mainly is because the problems she faced over the course of the book, the writer tried making her relatable when she was anything but and she always used her anxiety as an excuse to not do stuff.
I’m sorry this is very ranty 😂 but I read the book years ago and loved it but now it just feels ..... different and I don’t know why

First chapter is out! This is a book for you, who is a hopeless romantic, and maybe also enjoy reading about the hard times and the heartbreaks you go through when being a young adult. This story contains strong language and sexuel scenes, so keep that in mind! :) www.wattpad.com/story/204535470

oh my god, you've finally step foot on the doorway to hell, I'm being hella dramatic bUT I've basically spent years reading fanfiction now and I can assure you that this site is a cringefest no matter what you read. lmao,, I remember reading "I sold myself to the devil.." because so many of my middle school friends shoved it down my throat at that time,, I remember reading like 5 chapters and giving up. I can't imagine how my friend read ..the other book. yeah it's a trilogy apparently. 4 years and i still don't know why there was another book. Skskskjj

I don't remember the names but one that has stuck with me us called "the boy in the woods" it's so freaking good! And I'm so excited bc it's going to be published later this year.... But anyways you should totally read it Also please make more videos like this I love your sense of humor.

The bite is a really good book. It’s a trilogy and is like a decently long novel but I liked it, and it had limited grammatical errors. The plot was really good and had no overwhelming plot holes . 10/10 would recommend
