Asteroids Deluxe was always a favourite machine of mine, I do love your fix vids. My experience with my Atari Star Wars put me off vectors for life though. Keep up the great vids dude!
My Asteroids was also in a flood and its power supply looked exactly the same. It was covered in a thin film of mud (silt) on the top, and looked pretty clean underneath, just like yours. Mine also worked after I cleaned it up.
Hey Joe! I just picked one of these up today from a local collector and he gave me what I consider to be a very great deal. Just watching to get you some views and learn a little about how the power supplies work in these games! (I know your name isn't Joe.) :)
It’s a great game and the Atari’s have great schematics. Keep in mind asteroids electronically are almost identical to deluxe so if you run into problems asteroid repair logs are very similar to deluxe repair logs.
That pattern of "silt" looks kinda like something I've seen that was sitting for years in a place that regularly swings between humid enough to experience condensation sweating and dry enough for dust to fly. No flood required, and the base still takes water damage.
Yeah it was very peculiar, it wasn't really cut and dry to tell what was going on there... and I think inside the power brick looked fine so you'd think in a flood the silt would still get in there....
I 1000000% love old arcade machines!!! im gonna start mowing lawns soon so I can start buying them from you! (I'm only 14 so I gotta lot of work to do haha) but hopefully u keep some good games for sale :-)
That sounds good Kaedino, I started out mowing lawns when I was 14 too, that's how I can afford all these games :) Save a little bit of each time you get paid and you'll never run out of money. Good luck!
Joe's Classic Video Games I've been saving for a long time and doing a bunch of yard work for my neighbors and I was able to buy a working mrs pacman vintage machine for $400 😀
You could throw some shrink tube on those radial leads, just saying hehe. I thought flow at first but I think maybe just heavy dust with some moisture maybe. Love these uploads nice work!!
Thanks for showing folks about arcade games and thanks for using CRT tubes instead of LCD which kinda ruin's traditional arcade machines...And the goofy voice is funny makes watching videos better
They made a bunch of them actually, but not as many as the mighty Asteroids :) If you look down below there's a guy commenting that was the designer of Asteroids Deluxe!
Regarding the AD power brick. I get good voltages on pins 1-9, but the monitor voltages are quite lower than expected (40V for pins 10-14; 13V for pins 11-13). Any ideas on where to look for this problem? Thx
The way I read the schematics, if you put your ground on pin 11, you should have 60 volts AC on 10 and 12... and if you put your ground on pin 14, you should have 60 volts AC on pins 13 and 15.
Joe's Classic Video Games just took another look, you’re right...goes to show, always look at the schematic. Will check tomorrow with crossed fingers, thanks.
I have a Galaxian which needs a new monitor :( and I would like to put a k7000 in there instead of the awful k4500 that exists (and doesn’t work) would you do a video on something like a swap like that? I saw your Galaxian in the background :)
They were using a 25" color monitor on Seawolf II, and had extras, so when they made Galaxian the first 2000 of them or whatever had that same monitor in it, they made the glass bezel a little more wide to accomodate it and kind of made the image smaller (it doesn't fill up the whole screen). I'll have a video up about it next week.

I fully appreciated the little nod to Mr. Mackey. ...'it's baaad M'Kay' great video i LOVE the PCB and power supply troubleshooting videos.
In My Head we just shot a whole series on Asteroids (the original one) that will be up soon, until then I'm watching your KISS videos, lol

That kind of confirms it then! Glad we saved a couple of flood games!

Hey! We said no comments about the goofy voice!!!!!! :)
Until seeing this video I didn't know there were Asteroids Deluxe Arcade machines. Unless I just forgot about them.

How did you clean it?
hello greetings.

Going to buy you a roll of heatshrink for Christmas
I've got some... I never thought about that, lol.

We've got a video of that one coming up soon, it had the original G02 monitor in it (huge 25")...
Joe's Classic Video Games really! How on earth did that fit? Cool, I’ll keep my eye out on that one then :) it’s a tough cab to work on

Joe's Classic Video Games awesome, well I look forward to watching it!
Can you repair my Asteroids Deluxe PCB? Some yahoo decided to plug it in Backwards and now nothing works :(
