The tube is a little weak (the purple hue on everything is an indicator of it getting tired, plus the bleeding of the cyan lettering). Maybe a tiny lowering of the brightness will eliminate the bleeding, as for the color, the green gun is dying, so either a slight adjustment on green (if the darker areas seem purple, if not, it's weak), or a rejuvenation, if you have a CRT tester, or know anyone with one (or get one if you have multiple machines).
man that's awesome! I got a SPS from arcade shops for my Grand Champion, but I'm still having monitor issues. it put a smile on my face and gives me hope I can get my game up and running. Great Video bro
Question for you. I am enjoying my original Galaga cab with the crt and 60-1. The wife loves Frogger, Lady bug and my boys Galaga, Dig Dug and PAC Man. My question is the monitor was re capped, (Phillips monitor and I believe Wells Gardner chassie) minimal burn in and nice colors and focus. Not a big deal but what would cause on the right vertical side of the screen, when cold to have a wave effect? It seems to go away when the crt warms up. Is this correctable and is this a big deal? Thanks
I'm getting an original Galaga cabinet but putting a 60-1 board in it. It has all the original internals would this work with the 60-1 board for power?
Terry68Firebird Thank you for the reply. Update. I went to look at it and good news is that inside someone's has already put a power switcher box. So I will not be needing this connector and for good measure install a new Happ switcher box and new power cord. . It's an original cab with pcb board and a re capped 19" crt. The seller will take out the pcb and exchange for the 60-1. Going to add a 4 way joystick and an extra fire button.
have fun with your cab. - I have seen new control panels that have the extra buttons and trackball (looks like they are made just for galaga type cabs - may be worth it) www.arcadeshop.com/i/520/multicade-upright-panel-complete-trackball.htm
Terry68Firebird Yes I saw that as well. The guy I bought it from is in the industry and going to due some touch ups, new artwork, panel, green T molding etc. I'm excited and was 10 years old when this game came out. Now with a 10 year old boy can't wait to show him some 8-bit awesomeness 😁I know purists don't like to multicade these classics, but this is probably the only one I have space for, so I want a few extra games so the family, neighbors can enjoy. Coin up!!!
Hello again. My Galaga was delivered to my home and looks great. Question, what is the tinted plexiglass cover between the glass bezel and crt for? Mine is kinda scratched up and was wondering is this plexiglass needed??? My game will be in a semi dark room. Thanks for your response 👍🏻👍🏻
some arcade cabs came with tinted plexi or glass (also called smoked - i think). They can make any screen burn much less visible, and (IMO) soften the color. I like the tinted look but it is not needed - colorless plexi is just fine. Perhaps they used it because there was burn in, or more likely they used it because it was in the cab when they got it and did not want to pay for a new piece of plexi. Since you bought this already done up and paid for it- I would ask them about it. You could remove it easy enough but so could they.- good luck ! and have fun :)
Terry68Firebird Thanks!!! Yes I searched the inter web a bit and you are correct. The crt does have a small amount of burn in and it seems best to have it in place due to making the screen colors look better. Not too big of deal with the scratches and I did see on Pac-Man.com they sell new smoked plexiglass for only $25. Not sure if you have gone to they site but they have many parts for Galaga. Did you sell or keep your Galaga? Thanks again, you have been a big help.
Hi. Great video, exactly what I needed. I too need a new power supply for my original 1981 Galaga. Looking at Arcade Shop there are so many choices, under Power Supply Conversion Kits and Power Supplies and Parts Kits. Can you help me choose the correct one. Many thanks. Marcus
While I have you online, I am actually in Hong Kong watching your video. We use 240v here. One of my staff plugged my beloved machine into the mains whilst I had taken the transformer off as I was moving it. Needless to say it is now dead. So I am going through all my options to try and fix it. I thought the power supply would be the best place to start. I see from the description that it can take 230v via a jumper. Do you know what that is and if I can use it? What about the monitor though? Would that still need the step down transformer? If so it may be best to leave it at 110v and use a normal external transformer. What do you think?
Gioco straordinario, hai fatto un buon lavoro, bravo
Kudos for this video, just installed the power supply with adapter kit from Arcadeshop and my cab is working like new again!
Working at a different arcade now and we have a Galaga that keeps rebooting. I’ll used this video to help troubleshoot.

A little late to this, but I see you were missing a fuse at F2 on the power supply PCB. That would definitely cause your voltage drop.

Sadly, the Galaga I got has splices everywhere, with no J2 connector anywhere! I have to systematically tap into the correct wires... :(
Great work! I love Galaga. I'd love to find a Gaplus /Galaga 3.

Cool game- good luck with your monitor- you will get it running
Going to use that same kit on my cocktail galaga i just got.

Does your cabinet have the origina power supply?

Oh I am keeping galaga - a classic! I have over a dozen dedicated cabs...

Marcus Thomson thanks- I put a link to the exact one I used in the description of this video- have fun 👍
Oh yes, sorry missed that. Thx!
