Would love to see some more trifted/second hand/revamped furniture on this channel 😊 Not sure how sustainable it is to change out your patio furniture every year like this… As much as I adore Article’s style 🫢
I agree. The degree of consumption of new products could easily be tempered with vintage and reused items to great effect . . . . and this would be great modeling for all of Alexandra's followers!
It's sustainable for the person who gets it for free from the company - not for anyone else. All of my furniture is from the 1930's - passed down through the generations - and it's all very beautiful, and obviously, very well made. It also makes me happy to have the familial connection.
@@kirstenmc68I have reservations - maybe this is silly, but people will want to copy the look. They can, if it's available online. They can't if it's a secondhand item found in one Canadian shop. I honestly feel that would be frustrating for viewers.
As a Southern Lady, let me tell you gardenias not only have the most exquisite white blooms but the have a heavenly scent, like jasmine. Be careful not to touch the blooms or they will bruise and turn yellow/brown. Enjoy your patio.
OMG Graham spreading the water on the patio for cleaning totally made my whole day with a LOL and smiles. Wonderful work! I need to paint my patio floor.
Okay, but Graham’s soapy water dispensing technique made him look like the happiest old man helping out while trying his hardest not to spill any water from the bucket. 😂 y’all always look like you have the best time together and I’m here for it!
Have you considered some sort of umbrella? As much as I enjoy being out on the deck, I have a big umbrella to protect me from direct sunlight. Anyhoo, the deck looks fantastic!
Commenting from "warmer climate" Australia here - yep, we have to clean our patios, too, probably more often than you guys 😅. And sometimes we can't enjoy our patios for long because of mosquitos OR extreme heat
I love your patio renovation for the summer. But as a landscaper, I have to tell you that in orden for the Gardenia to be healthy all summer long you need to repot it from the nursery container into a larger pot. With more compost and proper care, you will have many lovley smelling flowers.
Very nice! You can also place plants all along the window ledge since you get good sun, they will thrive and you will get that being in a garden feeling :) , Cheers!
Honestly, I don't even know how you got anything done with that adorable little kitten present! Patio turned out great, makes me want to give mine a refresh. Also, I've heard that spraying your outdoor furniture with scotchguard can also help protect against the elements.
Man! So glad I live in Southern California where you can leave everything out on your patio. We have a covered patio so when it does rain, not often, everything stays dry. 😋
"Tonic Living?" The owners must be musicians! In music, "tonic" means "home base" or "sense of home." This patio absolutely feels homey. Love it!!! Brava
I love what she did but it definitely needs some bright flowers . And I wish they had shown the patio lights when it was dark . You could barely see them at twilight .
haven't watched the whole thing yet, but...i've had those chairs outside (pink ones). drill one or two holes in the low point of the seat so they drain! you will appreciate this in the fall.
I live in a warm climate and can confirm, we have to clean our patios too. Actually have to clean more cuz we can't leave them buried under snow for half a year :(
This California girl can’t even imagine living in your climate, let alone not having a barbecue handy! But you clearly make the most of your short summer. Nice job on your outdoor space.
And here I was thinking no way would I re-decorate and then un-decorate every time I go out and come in. That's too much work for me. If it can't stay out there all the time, I'm not putting it out there, lol.
😅 I have a deep balcony tray. I put everything I want outside in it & put it on my table. Sometimes we get sudden rain showers and you have to race back in with phone, snacks, drinks, book. Saves trying to scoop everything up in a hurry.
Good day from Greece. Thank you very much for the enjoyable video. I would like to share that gardenia is rather special plant that likes attention ( like a pet), doesn't like to change place once it finds its spot, and when it flowers it smells heavenly. Good day to all❤
Gardenias are a common garden flowering tree/shrub here in Australia and the white flowers have a stunningly beautiful fragrance! You're going to love them!
UGH- warm climates are not fun. Today it was 102 and felt like 112. We have to pressure wash every year to clean up the mildew that grows all winter. We have a few days in the fall and the spring that are nice, but Houston is not heat-friendly! Love your new patio look and all of your designs!
From someone in central TX where it has been over 100 Fahrenheit for the past week - we still have to clean our patios, and I'm so envious of a place where you mention possibly needing a sweater in freaking June 😂 because here, when taking my dog for a walk, the thought does cross my mind if I'll even make it back to my apartment alive or if I will become a charred spot on the sidewalk 😅
Great choice of furniture, even though I would personally add some more greenery to make it less naked. Still loving the sofa. What a beauty. And obviously a favourite cat-hiding-spot. 😊
Love your channel! Love you and the crew! Very friendly reminder to your viewers to be very very careful in a rocking chair if you have cats around. (Their little paws and tail can get easily broken) Thanks for another awesome video! 💗
In warmer climates we have sever thunderstorms all spring and summer long and have to bring in all the nice stuff multiple times a week so it doesn't get destroyed. I wish I could just cover it in the winter. 🤪
I love how you've come alive over the years creating these wonderful videos! It's so nice how you integrate your team into the process. And your design style seems to continue expanding which makes for great content! Excellent job, Alexandra!!!
Ηello there! This is Christine from Athens/Greece. I wouldn't change the view with all this greenery you have from your patio (is it a park?) for a warmer climate. It would be boring, believe me! Here in the suburbs of Athens we are frosted during the winter and burned out during the summer, but the local area is full of trees and I feel such a pleasure every time a get a look out of my window. Lovely to see you refreshing your patio. Well done, as always!
Year round hot weather has its own challenges. I live in Florida and its tough keeping the pool area clean and weed free. Not complaining though. I hate snow
Gardenias are also acid plants so make sure to use that kind of fertilizer. Hard to find in liquid format but get potting mix that says for acid plants. The store may have told you but if you later have issues with it could be that.
so cute! i wosh i had an outdoor space. i would drill a tiny hole or two in the bottom of those plastic chairs where any water might collect so they stay dry in the rain!
I can understand new decor pieces makes you feel refreshed. Just a suggestion though, a good wash with a pressure washer could have easily revamp the rug as good as new. Would love to see you promote reuse/recycle since so many people look upto you for design inspo.
Omg, bring that gardenia in with a grow light for the winter. It smells gorgeous! But it is tropical and will not live in cold, but will need the grow light to thrive inside.
I love your use of pink in your make overs. The patio turned out adorable and multifunctional in spite of its small size. You are a master of making small spaces look sooooo good!
I'm just doing my own balcony makeover and i love having this inspiration. I think my biggest change is going to be sewing new cushion covers for the balcony couch. I have veeeery limited space cause I covered as much as I could with plants and raised vegetable beds.
Space looks great! People usually think of what they can add to make a space look better but, in this episode, removing a bulky item was just thing it needed.
Hi AGT! I live in Pensacola Florida. And yes we have to clean our outside spaces too. Unfortunately sometimes twice a year. Our cleaning consist of full on pressure washing due to the humidity & rain. Love your show and if I ever winn the lottery your on my bucket list!!! Keep the shows coming. Jere Mixson
I love the separate seating areas, particularly as a guest. Rehoming the bbq was a good idea since you had only used it once. A great way to increase the living space of a home!
Patio looks great! Love your new pieces….don’t know how you were in a dress doing the makeover…I would have been in my t-shirt, tennis shoes and porch drawers (old shorts you shouldn’t wear past your porch)😂
I started using Native Shower gel from you and I love it!!!!! I have a Gardenia bush that I now 8 feet tall and blooms twice a year and the smell Devine. Lottie is so precious and of course seeing a video on a Thursday 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️, the refresh looks amazing

Oh my gosh, Gardenias smell amazing.
They can be finicky to keep alive but should get plenty of sun there.

Na mosquitoes suck

You just need to know that this gramma lady (63) on Whidbey Island loves watching your videos.. you're so genuine and chirpy! xoxo
The personality change with the pet 😂 relatable 😂😂❤
I am so excited for the Basement Studio Fix! Studio Fix is my favorite series and what inspired me to make improvements to my small apt.
Gardenias smell so good! I hope you get lots of blooms. Awesome choice!
112 here in West Texas. Post pic of you sitting out there with a sweater on and I will join you mentally. Or cry. Not sure which. Lovely job.
Graham is a precious treasure!

The Gardenia will need at least six hours of direct sun every day to bloom. It will also need some specific plant food for gardenias. Thet are tricky.
We love a Thursday AG surprise!!!
I wish you would have put a live edge shelf on the window next to sofa and put some plants on it, would be so cute! But love your makeover anyways!
I love what she did but it definitely needs some bright flowers . And I wish they had shown the patio lights when it was dark . You could barely see them at twilight .

It sounds like she still has access to it. It just won't be right outside her door.
It cramped up the space, didn't really work. Where would she have put her plant! Seems like she would be able to access the BBQ anyway :)
