10 years ago I was die hard Glock. Carried a gen 4 19 with me everywhere I went. One day I got a first gen M&p 9 and I was immediately impressed (hinged trigger aside) and then started to explore some more. Glocks are superb firearms, but personally, just shooting the M&P instantly made me a more accurate shooter. I now have multiple M&p series pistols and they’re fantastic. Crazy reliability also.
Same here, the M&P 2.0 is the only pistol i trust as much as Glocks. For me its the ergos and grip texture of the M&P 2.0. I changed the trigger for a Apex Flat faced forward set trigger. Only other thing ive changed was the sights for a Night Fision front night sight and a blacked out rear. My M&P 2.0 just runs ALWAYS. I have been flirting w the idea of trying out a PDP or a P10 just for something different. Smith & Wesson has some new offerings id like to try but they are approaching $1k or slightly over
My 2.0 4.25" is my favorite centerfire range toy. I actually prefer the hinged trigger slightly over my flat Shield Plus trigger. I love both guns though.
Good on you, man. I’m still rocking Glocks, myself, but I could definitely see CZ being in my future. S&W didn’t end up fitting my hands, but they’re great guns.
Few months ago I pulled my Glock 19 out of my bag for the first time in over 2 years to shoot at the range so I could cycle new ammo in. Went bang on first trigger pull, slide locked back on the last. It was caked in lint and dust and dry as a bone. As a tool that sits completely neglected in a pouch in my backpack for years on end potentially waiting for a life and death situation I honestly can’t think of a better alternative. It’s simple, it’s reliable and it’s effective. How comfy it is in my hand as I defend my life or how many different gadgets it’s got hanging off it aren’t really that important to me. Honestly when it comes to a handgun as a tool less is more for me personally.
I would expect as much from any quality auto, or properly maintained revolver. I say "properly maintained" because i've seen both fail from dried CLP, Hoppes, etc.
Going back to Glock. Picking up my first Glock 19 Gen 5 MOS tomorrow. Shoot the 17 for years so not much difference other then slide and grip a little shorter. I never had a Glock fail on me and I trust the gun for my EDC and duty weapon. Glock is as USA as you can get! Love them or hate them. I can say I love them for their durability and reliability in the field when needed no matter the environment.
I have owned and carried a lot of the big names out there but always go back to my Glock about 95% of the time. Just a great tool for edc. I love my Staccato and my Canik, my FN and CZ, but to me the Glock has been my main tool for so long, that it’s just my go to for carry.
Dude. It's good to see The Honest Outlaw back in action. With all the tornadoes another midwestern dude was concerned about you and Mrs. Outlaw. Glad to see you are doing well.
I’ve used Glocks for duty, competition, and defense for over 15 years and they’ve always run for me. That being said, the competition has definitely caught up. There are a ton of good striker fired polymers out there these days.
Same here. I was always put off by the blocky feel. However when I got a Gen 5 19 I found that I shot it better than my other pistols. Glocks are like an orthopedic device in that they are not especially nice feeling but the position my grip in such a way that I have better control. I also actually happen to like the Gen 5 trigger, nice smooth rolling break, good for controlled rapid fire.
I refused just because everybody thought they were the sheet but then I found a 43X on sale and now Glock is my favorite even over my Canik, S&W, and Taurus. I really figured I could have been more accurate with the Canik but it didn't play out that way.
I consider owning other guns (CZ, FN, Staccato) but I’m so familiar with Glock. They just work, not fancy or exciting, just plain and reliable. Great video Chris.
I've been a Glock fan for 25 yrs and still am. It's my main and most carried pistol. I love the feel, the reliability, and the simplicity. Great video man. You're one of my favorite guntubers, hands down.
Love my Glocks, but I’m definitely not one of those guys that thinks all other guns/pistols are inferior. If you like it and it’s reliable, that’s all that matters 🔫
I had a Glock 48. Loved the ergonomics but the trigger chewed my finger up. Wasn't just me . Others who shot it had the same complaint. Sadly I got rid of it.
@Charles Hill same here. I wanted to like the Glock but the ergos drove my trigger finger into the trigger guard causing some pain and making an already “meh” trigger pull awful.
@@charleshill9236 the G48 has a terrible serrated trigger. I still have the stock trigger on mine, but an aftermarket trigger would fix that. The G17, G19, G19x, G26, G34, G47 have way better triggers out of the box compared to the G43, G43x and G48
My first proper pistol was a Glock 19. It taught me the fundamentals, made me unafraid to dip my toe into basic gun smithing, and it never had a malfunction. To me it was my gateway into firearms. I’ve since moved to da/sa pistols (my daily is a CZ p-01 or a Walter pdp. I still have my Glock 43x though because it’s super light and comfortable to conceal and it has the shield arms 15 round mags. For me that fills out my Glock needs . Still hate the trigger though, action is fine, it just cuts into my finger. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
I was walking my 18 pound dog one evening and we were attacked by a 85 lbs pit pill mix. It was dark and we were not near a street light. I fought the dog off as long as I could. He continued going after my dog and bit me in the process. I drew my Gen 5 Glock 19 and fired 3 times ending the attack instantly. My magazine was loaded with 127 grain +P Ammo and I was shooting one handed. Landed 2/3 shots on target. My wife and entire family are glad I had a reliable tool (Glock pistol) to protect my life and my dogs life. We’ve walked that same path for 4 years and that night was almost life changing until I decided to not be a victim and be my own first responder. Always rely on yourself and train, train, train. Gen 5 glock triggers are easy to use and it will work when you need it to most. Love the channel. I live at the beach so it’s nice to see the wide open spaces in all your videos. God bless and keep it loaded
My first pistol was a Glock for many of the reasons you stated. Reliable, easy to use, tons of resources on how to strip, clean, and maintain them, and tons of accessories.
Just got a glock19 Gen 5 last year. Best gun I've ever shot imo. Fits great in my hand, trigger is good out the box, I can put rounds on target 99% of the time. Have 0 complaints.
@@jd9119 haven't shot a ton of guns like this guy. But I've rented most of its competitors and I like this the best. The M&P I didn't like at all, springfield armory and sig are ok but I still like this better.
Being a 1911 guy from the cradle, I hated Glock until the aftermarket fixed my gripes. My 43 was built from a bare frame with better trigger, sights, barrel, slide, extended mag and slide release and a MagGutz +2 kits for 8+1 capacity. After 3 years of daily carry it's proven as reliable as stock andmore accurate. FWIW, none of my double stack 1911s (ParaOrdnance) are stock either.
After carrying a couple different Glocks for the past 10 years, I finally tried the M&P. This thing points SO much more naturally, and my tendency to shoot low was instantly corrected. I respect Glock, but I'm a Smith man now.
I was a glock guy for years since very early 90's (former LE), but switched to the Smith 2.0 about 5 years ago or so. I really like the grip inserts and the texture vs the glock. The 2.0 just does everything the glock does but better if only slightly
Good video. I’ve never been a Glock hater and in fact think they make a great product. So when I was searching for a polymer framed striker fired pistol, Glock was part of the mix. But when I tried out the 19 and 17 and then compared to several others, my favorites were the M&P 2.0 and Beretta APX A1. Went with the Beretta and I’m happy I did.
Not all of those mods make them less reliable. Besides, most people I know don't keep their competition guns in their nightstands anyways. I look at competition guns as toys (albeit dangerous ones) and home-defense guns as tools.
People are fools. Usually. Gun owners are no exception. Just because a mod may make you .05 sec faster during a USPSA match doesn't mean that'll translate during a genuine life or death situation. Train what you shoot with, shoot with what you train on. If you don't train, you're just a hazard.
Great informative video sir, I was a 1911 guy for most of my life and finally bought a Glock 19 and have own many Glocks since, they are simple, reliable and the availability of aftermarket accessories are second to none. The very reason they are the best selling pistol in the USA.
Got the Glock 19m gen 5 for 500$ came with ameriglo HD night sights, ambi extended slide release, I threw my TLR1 HL light on it and then got a optic plate from C&H precision and then got a holosun eps carry on there last week almost have the same setup for my 43x mos absolutely love my Glocks never ever had any issues with them but I’ve had issues with CZ, FN and smith reason why I went back to my Glocks
Yep, 9mm for cheap trainings, 40 for availability, and 357Sig for real world. Oh, and if you buy a .22 conversion kit (Advantage Arms) you have even a cheaper training option for holster work.
Same. Glock may not be the best handgun, but it's the best handgun carry system/platform. For people like me who don't want to change carry guns every time a new hot product comes out, that's fantastic.
@@paulfaggart3423 yea they’re hard to beat for sure. I’ve had plenty of other pistols but more times than not I’ll end up parting with them. But I always keep the Glocks. Though when I bring out the Glock 17L to the range I get some weird looks at the public range lol
Own many of pistols, all have there pros and cons. I will say, my M&P is the easiest to hit steel with open sights, but my favorite to shoot is my 43x with red dot. It just feels the best in my hand. Like a glove fit, awesome video!
My first was a virtually new used Gen 1 shortly after they hit the US market. Total reliability with every ammo I fed it. Today I have four 9mm models in my collection and occasionally carry the 43X. Every collector should own at least one Glock!
When I'm not at the range shooting my Walther or H&K, I EDC and TRAIN with my Glock 43X, and my nightstand gun is a Glock 17. My bathroom gun is a Glock 43. If I ever comp shoot, I may use a G34 just because I am so familiar with Glocks and they all essentially use the same parts too. So easy to maintain and fix compared to my Walthers and H&Ks.
I started collecting Glocks a few years ago when the used market was full of them . I never got a custom to the grip angle it felt like I was holding a 2by4 so I slowly traded or sold them.then this past Christmas my son surprised me with a Glock 48 . I love that gun and it refired the drive to start slowly try other models . The one thing about Glock it's the Honda Civic of handguns simple design but just runs..
I became a pistol instructor in 2020. I trained almost 150 people in the following 2 years, mostly newbies. They always asked me the same question..."what gun should I get". My answer was always the same..."I'm a Glock guy, but you need to decide what you carry based on 3 topics; what is reliable, what has stopping power and what feels good in your hands". Even after saying that, 90% of my students bought Glock. It's a "no-frills" firearm. The bad guy doesn't care about your custom trigger or custom sights.
No one can argue against the capacity of the full size models for their size. They were the pioneers into heavy capacity for their size with overall light weight
Yeah... and I always thought that was funny (or even ridiculous), because they have such thick walled polymer mags, making then significantly wider than they need to be in the 2 dimensions. (front to back, side to side).
I am a glock guy, simple, they awlays work, the compatability of mags, holsters etc is fantastic, I have guns based on a system and I don't collect almost all of the spart parts for an emergency repair I might need (springs, firing pins etc) are interchangable between my 45,19 and 26. If I need a holster I can get a good one in a lot of sporting good stores or gun shops . For me they just work.
I have a few different Glocks and I love them. They are never a bad choice. But there definitely are a few other Brands and models out there now that people can trust and enjoy. Thanks for always having some of the best videos on YT
Excellent perspective. My department issues Glocks like many, many departments across the country, but everyone that can carry something different does carry something different.
the extractor is one of the most common failpoints on semi auto pistols. the fact that you can remove the firing pin assembly and extractor with a bic pen makes it so easy to keep clean and worry free. thats the best part about a glock for me
Just shot my CZ 75 SP-01 back to back with multiple Glocks, Glocks aren’t bad they are easier to mess with the slide but not really close at all in feel of everything, ergonomics, recoil, sights, etc.
Just recently got a Glock. Have fired a few never liked them until I started dealing with much more advanced systems and maintenance procedures. Picked up one before I decided to get one and felt great in the hand. I got it for my EDC due to the simplicity of the Glock the much lower maintenance scheduling and the weight. My previous edc's with a full mag and one in the chamber weigh the same as a g17 with two full mags one in the chamber and a good holster. With a little range time I think my dislike for shooting a Glock will change as I become much more familiar with them.
A Glock 19X with Wilson/Vickers Sights is fantasticly consistent at ranges out to 100 yds or more. Amazing. AND. . . the Gen 5 Glock 21 in 45 ACP (that I just got and shot :-) is one of the smoothest shooting 45's out there. They really worked on recoil mitigation and the "bulk and bounce" reduction on these large calibers and it payed off (IMHO).
I’ve come full circle on pistols. Everyone talked about Glocks being the best 10 years ago, so I decided to go against the grain and try HK first. VP9 and USP45. Then went to a S&W, PPQ, etc. All were fine, but as I got more into firearms I came to realize how important cross compatibility of parts and magazines was to me. I carry a G26 with a backup 17 round magazine. When I get home, I can take that magazine and load it into my G17 for my nightstand gun. Same thing with my G19. It just makes self defense easy when you have one system. Plus all of the other pros you outlined.
Love my HK. Walther PDP probably my next purchase. Last I checked I was only shooting one gun at a time. Then again, I'm not running a police department, security company or protection agency like you probably are which would require "cross compatibility". Does it take a Glock mag....right?
I still use them for most of my carry options. I shoot my 19 as well as my 1911s. Like the magazine compatibility and think they make for a comfortable carry gun especially for their size. They don’t have the best triggers though but if you practice and shoot them I think you get used to them and they wear in a bit. I do have other pistols and revolvers that are not Glocks, including Ruger, Remington 1911s and Smith. At least I did have them before my boating accident. I also think too much is made of the grip angle. It’s a little different but I can shoot a Glock and then pick up a 1911 and still shoot that well back to back. It’s not that difficult to switch.
I was a glock hater for long time loved M&P had 5 of them , including shield , my buddy needed money so I bought his G43 , ended up being my carry. Now I have a G19 G26 G43 and I love them.
Way back when, I was testing the first Glock model (Gen 1) 17 for a magazine article. One of the things I did was to see how many rounds I could put through one without cleaning before it hung up. I used my own handloads using cast LEAD bullets. Total round count before a hangup was 3600, without cleaning or adding a drop of oil other than initial lubing. The reason for the hangup was that the chamber had shaved enough material from the cast bullets to form a ring around the chamber mouth, keeping the gun a small distance out of battery. I field stripped it at the range, flicked the metal from the chamber mouth with a pocket knife, and continued shooting . Other than that one instance, no fault of the gun, it ran flawlessly. After 4500 rounds total, I gave up. Cleaning, as you can guess, took a lot of scrubbing.
I tried a Glock 45, and it was good, reasonably comfortable and it shot well. A while later I tried a 19, which is more the size I'm interested in, and could not stand it. It was uncomfortable in my hand and I had a hard time keeping the rounds in the target zone on the paper.
Surprising that the slight change in grip size would effect you so much. But I have that issue when I don't practice for a while and switch between my g45 and 43x.
@@GyudeJohnson I can switch between my TH9C and G2C with ease, and while the grip angles are the same, the width, breadth, and height (even with the same magazines, one sits higher than the other) are different.
Very glad you mentioned "reliable under adverse conditions." It is one thing for a well-maintained firearm to be reliable on a nice sunny day on a flat-range. It is another to go out into the real world and abuse it as a duty weapon in Alaska or similar places. You'll see Glocks on the hip of every LEO in any reputable agency up here. 48er folks couldn't imagine what we expect of our duty sidearms up here. The worst winter day in Iowa is a "hmm, maybe I'll put on a coat today" day up here in the Interior.
I’ve avoided glocks for a long time but I gotta say, if the grip angle feels natural to you (which it does for me) they’re hard to beat. Especially since they also have a fairly low bore axis; combine the two and other guns feel top heavy and cumbersome by comparison. I personally love glocks now as the two factors I just mentioned are high in my list of priorities
Agreed. Also the fact I have so many mags and parts as spare if need be and you don’t have to be a gunsmith to take it apart and change parts. A lot of even new striker guns are tougher than a 226 or Beretta 92 to work on.
Ive been carryin the same gen 3 glock 23 for 12 yrs. Lol the only things ive done to it, converted it to a 9mm, install tfo sights, a tungsten guide rod, ghost disconnect, titanium plunger, maritime cups,& a apex trigger....it still runs like a champ.
I have a CZ P10c and sig 320 xcompact and recently got Glock 19 gen 5 mos. I felt so underwhelmed when I got it that it makes me appreciate my other ones more.
lol. Then why you get it? I only buy guns I'm excited to get. (At the very least, you know it will save your life in a self defense situation... and if someone you care about is in any danger, you have a gun you won't be too sad to lose. That's a big bonus too, because you also Know that it'll work 100% if they need it.
@@tonyrogo227 Im guessing because liking and being useful can be two different things. The glock may be lackluster in the ergonomics and trigger department (and sights), but they shoot well and are reliable.
Chris, I devour your content like crazy. This is a GREAT vid, and honestly, you'd probably be the best person to turn this concept into a full series: pro/cons 1911s, pro/cons hammer-fired CZs, pro/cons M&P, pro/cons revolvers, pro/cons Ruger Security/LCP line, pro/con P365/micro-9s. I'm not going to leave my CZs for anything else any time soon, but when people ask me what they should get, I tell them to try EVERYTHING and pick what fits their hands best. But if you had a whole set of pro/con vids on what someone can expect for each of the various subcategories of defensive choices, I could just say, "watch this playlist from Honest Outlaw."
One con you didn’t mentioned is the light mount/rail…. Shot G for a long time, but as you mentioned with limited range time a number of different platforms, I chose M&P for carry to maximize my limited training opportunities. No hate at all though, this vid was spot on.
Several years ago I bought mod 19 and it came apart and this was during a training session. We had a Glock Armorer on site and called Glock right away. Needless to say I received a new one in 4 days. I had the Armorer go completely through it and the sell it. I went to another make and after 2 yrs I decided to try another and 3 mod the recoil spring broke while on a call. I have no use for them and a few others have had same problem.
From my experiences selling firearms, people only trade them in simply because they don’t like them. I get hear complaints about the grip angle the most. Other than that, probably just the blockiness and ergonomics. Great pistols, if it feels good in your hand, theres a great chance you’ll like them.
I kept having malfunctions shooting my nephews g19 and kept being told "you are limp wristing" and I'm like I should not have to completely change my grip that works with EVERY OTHER PISTOL I SHOOT just to accommodate this piece of shit
@@edackley8595 Theres nothing below $500 that is remotely better. Enough with the Copium. Anyone who is serious about personal defense is going to buy a Glock, M&P, CZ, etc.
Good video! I'm just comfortable with Glocks (35, 19, 45, 26, 43x, 17). I know it's gonna work dirty, dry etc and great customer service. Personal preference.
For me, it’s the customizable aspect. You can take the stock Glock and basically make it look however you want because of all the customizable options out there. I had my gen 5 grip stippled by Danger Close Armament and made it two tone (black/FDE). Kept the internals stock. It has the custom gun look, but since the internals are all stock it’s equally safe to carry as a stock Glock.
It's a catch 22 though. You have so many available upgrades for the Glock that once you're done making a Gucci Glock you might as well have thrown down on a nicer gun to begin with.
That's the answer most Glock stans have... So basically, their favorite thing about a Glock is the ability to make it as little like an actual Glock as possible 😂
Great video as usual! I’m a Glock guy, and I’m not afraid of saying it. I own 5 and plan on buy a few more. You are absolutely correct about keeping thing OEM. Maybe a performance trigger, tungsten rod, or a Johnny Glock trigger shoe. But that’s about it. I also only run OEM Glock mags. Never have any problems with my Glocks.
I just started carrying a 43x mos with eps carry and tlr-7sub. I’ve carried a glock 19, 1911, m9. 43x is my pick at the moment, has 15 round capacity and means to mount a red dot and a descent light in a small package.
I have 3 variations of Glocks, Gen 3's. They are stock. I just did the $.25 trigger polish job and put custom back plates and stainless steel pins. I think they are fantastic guns. Are they the best? Not even close. For beginners, I always tell them to look at other options. But if there was a SHTF event a Glock will be in my top 5 guns. As always, excellent video and KEEP ON ROCKING!
For my first pistol ever, I had my mind set on a G43, G26, or G19. Salesmen introduced me to the CZ p10c. I immediately fell in love with it. And from there, CZ has been my # 1 platform. I didn't say only. That being said, glock just didn't didn't do it for me. Shot them and all. The dexterity just wasn't singing to my hand like CZ. But, not knocking glock, reputable and trustworthy.
I honestly love glocks, the reliability it has gives me so much comfort when I am carrying, whenever I carry my other handguns I just simply don’t feel as confident
I just went to a gun store and tried the triggers on several p365s, including the legion model and the stock glock trigger was much better than any of the sigs.
I bought a few back in the early 90s and never really cared for them. But I bought a Gen 5 G17 recently, and it is terrific. Glock is my go-to now. One of the best things about them is you can get a holster for them that will take a light, and the Holosun SCS is a great optic setup for the MOS.... no adapter plates and can still use OEM sights.
Glock 32 and 29, had H&K P2000v3 40 S&W but reliability issues and Springfield XD-357 had issues as well. Added the Sig Sauer P365 before the pandemic.
Great information! I love Glocks but I'm looking for something new and maybe a replacement for my EDC. Your 1000, 2000 rounds and more follow-up content is a great help to me that hopefully will help me make the change. I'll always use and keep my Glock's but it's time for me to have something new and at the same time I can add to my toys... I'm not a collector of firearms but I am one that seems to accumulate them. Thanks again for all you and your Boss do for us...
Germany or bust! Walther PDP Compact is probably going to be my next purchase since no need for permits to conceal carry in Florida has passed. HK for full sized and Walther for compact. Life is good.
The reliability, durability and simplicity of the GLOCK platform are big selling points for me. I have hundreds of thousands of rounds through GLOCKs and have been shooting them for a couple of decades, which has earned my loyalty to the brand. It may not be the best at any one thing, but it’s good at a lot of things which I like. I also like knowing I can fix everything on the gun if need be. I’ve become accustomed to the GLOCK grip angle, but the issues regarding the ergos, particularly undercutting the trigger guard are valid. Frankly, GLOCK could offer backstraps that change the grip angle, it’s not that difficult. I’d also like more aggressive texturing, at least on the front strap and backstrap. I prefer a lighter trigger and usually change the connector to a minus connector. When I run a gun fast I notice the weight of the trigger and how quickly I can reset it. The trigger pull weight matters to me because the heavier the trigger the greater the likelihood there is to disturbing the sight alignment. The finer nuances of the trigger that people debate when dry firing the gun are lost on me when I’m competing or running my gun hard. I’ve been impressed by how many rounds I’ve put on some of my guns with no noticeable degradation in accuracy. I happen to like that GLOCK puts cheap sights on the gun. It keeps the cost down and saves me money toward sights that I actually want on my gun. I loathe night sights and hate when companies make them the stock offering. I run a fiber optic front and black serrated rear sight on all of my handguns, so unless GLOCK were to make that a standard offering, I’m content to get the cheap sights and change them. I’ve been downsizing my gun collection over the last couple of years. I kept my GLOCKs, some 1911s, and I CZ I couldn’t part with. Thanks for the video.
I thought the same thing too. However, I started carrying a Canik, CZ, and Walthers. For me, ergonomics and amazing stock triggers are mandatory. The blocky feel just doesn’t do it for me anymore (except the Gen 5 G20). The only exception.
@@debbieamper6888 I've done the Walther, CZ, SIG, Canik thing, sold 'em and have no desire for another. Keep coming back to Glock. With a Canik, you buy a pistol (of dubious quality, I might add). With a Glock, you buy into an ecosystem of pistols.
The trigger and the ergonomic are completely fine. Anyone who complains about them is a little girl. If the angle on a Glock bothers u I better not hear u talk about how much u love 1911’s then 😂
@@offendineveryway9411 yes I have and honestly I see very little difference. A Glock is much more usual e than a P01. Parts are everywhere, it’s cheaper, more reliable, much more customizable if u choose too, the mags are used with many other firearms, and the list just goes on and on. As for the trigger, the stock one is more than fine but now Glock released the “performance” trigger which solves any and all complaints ppl had about the stock one.
@GBMAIN Cool. I don't scoff at Glock owners. Just pointing out the ONLY cons I see with the brand/model. It feels like a brick in my hand out the box. Yes, mods are out there to conform to personal feels. But the stock striker fire trigger is simply not good compared to other models.
I own a g23 gen 3 and a g19 gen 5 and I love them both, very reliable as long as kept mostly stock which both mine are and they are the best pistols I have ever owned.
For me I got into them because it was what I saw police officers use in real life, I thought it was cool because of all the movies, tv shows, and games I saw these in (kind of like my version of the Beretta 92, Sig P226, and famous revolvers of the older movies/tv shows that older people grew up with), and it’s carried at every gun store out there. It’s very simple and you can memorize every part and how things work in a few hours, very easy to customize (for example changing sights is much simpler on a Glock than a M&P), almost every holster and accessory maker makes something for Glock, and there are many custom things that people only do for Glock (like having the backplate move back with the striker as a form of “external” safety that mimics the hammer of fired pistols). I don’t think Glock is the best (I prefer a Sig, Walther, or CZ), but I still think they are great and will fit anybody.
They fit nobody naturally. Garbage ergonomics. Still a good pistol but same thing for past 40 years now. I’d put about 5 gun manufacturers ahead of Glock. Including Taurus, which tells you everything you need to know. I hardly clean my pistols. My CZ pcr has about 8k rounds and has never received a single deep clean. I’ll slap some oil in clean the barrel. That’s it. My custom hellcat has 3k rounds through it without a single cleaning or lubing. Neither has ever had a malfunction. Shoot we have an old Taurus pt92 with a heel mag release and it probably has 15k plus through it without a single malfunction. Been cleaned probably twice in 30ish years. Was my grandpas now my dads, but I shoot it a lot. Reliability for most of these big manufacturers is an even playing field now. The only thing I give to Glock is accessories and access to parts.
Yeah, simplicity is an important feature... and especially being easily serviced by anyone is one of the things that make Glocks a better option than so many others. I don't think they're the best guns in the world or anything... but that one feature really brings them to the top of the list (for so many people).
@@thorshammer5134 hahahahaha. Hard criticism from a guy who names himself after a cartoon prop, admits to shooting both a Taurus and an HS Produkt, and admits to not maintaining his weapons. @@JD-tn5lz military and service firearms are way over maintained. That’s a well known fact. Also I shoot every firearm. I’m not a biased shill. I maintain my firearms in working and 100% reliable order. Some need more than others. I’d point you to the 20k round review on the hellcat in a single day. I’ve done full internals jobs on everything from decocker CZs to any striker firearm yo can think off.
I have owned two Glocks a 19 and a 22 and now I own a Glock 17 gen 3 my S&W M&P 9mm have owned since 2009 still works great my fun pistols are my CZ75B OMEGA and my CANIK TP9SF that has the best trigger I ever pulled on a striker fired pistol.
Glocks are crazy valuable ( and expensive, around 2kUSD ) down here in Brazil. We've had so much bad experiences with dogshit unreliable Taurus handguns in the past, and heavy import restrictions over foreign firearms, that Glock reliability and durability have risen to a almost legendary level. Every US citizen should be proud and feel lucky to be able to have the second amendment, and such a wonderful open market where they can pick and choose between manufacturers, models and calibers as much as their hearts desire. Nowadays, as a Brazilian LEO, I own a CZ P10F for duty and a Glock 19 for CCW, sure I would love to afford buying several handguns, but the price here is prohibitive ( borderline criminal)
Can you give us a current price? In the US, the avg. retail price is $500. If you qualify for Blue Label, price drops to $425.00 or less. California Glocks I think are $650+.
First: I really enjoyed the review as it seemed to talk about the gun more then your preferences. Second: I just got a G47 as my first Glock and I am very happy. I only have 100 rounds through it. I have shot s&w and berettas and found I could not hit the targets very well, either consistently or accurately even with multiple range trips with little to no improvement. I was vastly better with the Glock. Consistent grouping and follow up shots. Ranges of 8-15-35 with continued hits on targets. My only gripe would be the grip texture. I feel if my hands were slick it would be hard to keep purchase on the pistol. Best feature for me is the grip angle. Maybe I have goofy hands or something but it fits and points so well.
perfect. i got a g17.5 mos before they discontinued it. turns out im kicking ass with it at matches. im starting to wonder if I should just sell my M18 and M9A3. I used to prefer hammer fired guns and more old fashioned high-bore-axis pistols but the cheap accessories and good performance is making me truly reconsider- as my skills increase I find it harder to justify other guns
Fair. I love my Glocks, but that being said aside from the recoil spring, I replace the guts to make the trigger not suck. We live in an age where there’s so many good handguns out there. It’s hard to fault anyone for not wanting one, but I love my Glocks and they just work.
@@edackley8595 there are certainly better options as far as ergonomics, aesthetics, nicer triggers, etc, but there is no better option than a glock when you take everything into consideration. Glocks are the most popular, therefore the easiest to find, easiest to find parts and magazines also. They have the most aftermarket support as well so you can change anything you may decide to change, although a stock glock works just fine. There is no other pistol manufacturer that comes close to glock as far as the totality of factors is concerned. Glocks are accurate, durable, reliable, decently priced, easy to use and work on, easy to find parts and magazines, and on and on. You can walk in nearly any gun store and buy a glock, and that's not the case with many other guns. I do agree that there are newer options that are better in some aspects, but not when you take everything in to consideration. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions though, so buy and use whatever you please, but just remember there's more to making a "great gun" than just the looks a d ergonomics or what have you. ✌️
For me personally I didn't care for the grip or trigger of the Glock. Felt the M&P had a crisper, cleaner trigger and more comfortable grip. But that is the advantage of living in this age, we can get what works best for us. We don't all have to have the same gun. As long as they go bang reliably and send the projectile accurately.. shooters preference! Thank you Outlaw for keeping it real and making content for the viewers instead of the industry. All the best to you and the Missus!
Glocks for my EDC because of the mag in my G26 also fits my PCC and I can hide a 33 round mag around for extra. Also keep a bunch of G19s around. But for any precision shooting it’s a CZ or some other metal gun.
I only own a glock 42, so I'm no glock expert, but their product lineup is massive. They offer far more calibers in multiple configuration than any other company.
Carried Glocks for 30 years and I recently changed platforms to the Smith and MP 2.0. Added the Overwatch Precision trigger to it and this thing is amazing. Before deciding on the Overwatch I shot the Apex Tactical Flatty and I liked the Overwatch better. I hope in the future you make a video comparing the two triggers and I thing you will be impressed with the Overwatch.
pdp is simply the best out there. and just to add. my range has a ton of p10c-s. They are great guns yes. but i have seen more trouble with them than expected. my instructor had a broken slide (although at around 30-40 thousand rounds ) many new guns have problem with the slide locking back after some time (not user induced) because of the spring not being goood. PDP has one weakness i found. Dirty feedramp. FTF will appear. Keep that one thing shiny and your are goood to go without cleaning or lubing.
Hell I love Glocks, I have a couple. You are 100% dead on about all aspects you mentioned. I love them, respect them and their history. I'm just not a Glock fanboy. I love Smith and Wesson, Staccato, CZ and many more. I just like the fact that there are several great, reliable brands. Some can be very pricey and some cheap, but you could trust your own life or the life of a loved one with a few of the not so expensive brands. It is a beautiful time to be alive with the many great options out there.
I'm new to the Glock party. Recently bought a G19 gen 5 after years of being a naysayer, and I'm very impressed. S&W Shield plus is my main carry, due to size, but I shoot both equally well, along with my 92fs. In terms of practical use, I don't notice two cents worth of difference in the grip angle or triggers of the 19 vs the Shield plus. Maybe I'm just weird, but I think Glock got it right.
I love the 43x I own two of em great carry gun they’re the only Glock pistols I own and I got a lot more than 2 guns. What I like in a carry gun is definitely different than what like to have fun with or leave in my nightstand
My first gun I got a few months ago a 19 gen 5 I love it i knew nothing about guns so simple I carry it alot best for a first time buyer honestly I love mine
For me, I've never liked the feel of them ever, but just because I don't like them doesn't mean that they're bad.
Agreed. Smith and wesson fits better in my hand. I also have a shadow system that's glockish but still quite different.
I feel the same way and I own a 19x 😂 great guns and highly customizable. But there are way better guns out of the box SIG,CZ,CANIK,S&W ect
Glocks are a good jack of all trades handgun, but there's a lot more options with lots more features nowadays.
I shoot my PDP faster and more accurately than any other handgun I own but I CC a 43x but I’m about to switch to a Canik.
I've shot a lot of Glocks, but never owned one. I never really got along with the grip angle.
Smith & Wesson has some new offerings id like to try but they are approaching $1k or slightly over
I was the same way , till I got issued m&p 2.0 trigger is amazing compared to glock.
I carried G19 G3 and then G4 from 2006 to 2021 . Then I switched to Shadow Systems MR920L and XR920 .
Honestly when it comes to a handgun as a tool less is more for me personally.
agreed... still carry my gen2 G19

OK. And other guns will perform similarly. Glock is like nike. There are other good shoes out there. Glock is only so popular because of rap.
I have owned and carried a lot of the big names out there but always go back to my Glock about 95% of the time. Just a great tool for edc. I love my Staccato and my Canik, my FN and CZ, but to me the Glock has been my main tool for so long, that it’s just my go to for carry.

The M&P is a great pistol. I bought a Shield a few years ago but I didn’t like it like the smaller grip. I will buy another full size again soon.
I was a glock guy for years since very early 90's (former LE), but switched to the Smith 2.0 about 5 years ago or so. I really like the grip inserts and the texture vs the glock. The 2.0 just does everything the glock does but better if only slightly

Just too many other options out there. 20 years ago, different story. Price point has crept up making them not the value they used to be.
You are spot on with the aftermarket add ons that make the Glock less reliable and than it becomes a dedicated competition gun and not a defense gun.

@Jason Nortwich good question lol. Glocks are super easy to clean and it only takes a few minutes. I clean mine almost every time I shoot
People hate shooting the 48, it damages their trigger finger.
Someone who gets it! Just focus on your aim and draw speed, range etc and you’ll be a good shooter, they’re guns not Honda civics.
@Deuce Deuce If Glock was willing to upset the boat by producing metal mags they would probably gain a good bit of capacity.

Couldn’t agree more. The first time I shot my Glock 21 I was shocked by how smooth it was. It has less recoil than any 1911 that’s for sure.
oh please...the FNX 45 and HK USP .45 are far smoother than the block lol
@@edackley8595 Calm down, Edward. I didn’t mean to get you all worked up.

Awesome
Very glad you mentioned "reliable under adverse conditions."
It is one thing for a well-maintained firearm to be reliable on a nice sunny day on a flat-range.
I enjoy the glock. All the aftermarket support and I enjoy changing things around.
@@deucedeuce1572 You don't know until you try, but that's also why I rent guns before I buy them typically unless they're rare or discontinued.
You bought a gun you you didn't care for?
That makes no sense

@@jlogan2228 Thats unfortunate, but it’s definitely the exception and not the rule.
@@jlogan2228 dawg i have loosely held a Glock with my weak hand and it cycled.
Point is that at the Block price point there are many other guns that feel much better. If Block were a $350 gun, different story.
Hard to improve on perfect. Copying it is a compliment.

My first handgun was a g19. Bought it on my 21st birthday and is still my daily carry to this day.
Nothing wrong with having options. Hope you find something you like. Anything specific you're looking for?
Germany or bust! Walther PDP Compact is probably going to be my next purchase since no need for permits to conceal carry in Florida has passed. HK for full sized and Walther for compact. Life is good.
I have glocks, my first handgun was a 19x, and I think glock is still at the top of the gun food chain!...🔥🎯💯 I'm a glock fanboy haha
Don't shoot a Walther then. Or a canik
I have tried damn near every decent concealed carry gun under $800 and I ended up back at the Glock 19. Just something about it.
LULZ, who needs an "ecosystem"? Dollar for dollar, Block has been beaten pretty soundly by more than one.
I have one Glock in my collection. It has no heart, no soul and no personality. But I still love it for some reason.
The trigger and brick ergonomics are the only Cons to Glocks.
The trigger and the ergonomic are completely fine. Anyone who complains about them is a little girl. If the angle on a Glock bothers u I better not hear u talk about how much u love 1911’s then 😂
@GBMAIN Just my opinion, Dude. Have you ever held and shot a CZ P01? Compared to a Glock.
t. Glock 19 owner
I especially like that the Glock 9mm slide stayed thin compared to the competition's thick slides made to handle .40 & 9mm.
Except the frame is thick.

@@Xenophon1 to the slide…. Ya the slide is thin but the frame is thicker so it kinda defeats having a thinner slide.
Had a glock 20 with tritium truglow sights and a ravenguard concealment holster.

If you can only get one gun and it’s under 700 bucks it’s a Glock 19 hands down
Nah, better options for sure. Walther much better.

I've had 4 Glocks , a 19 ,17,34 , and 22. I don't miss any of them
Carried Glocks for 30 years and I recently changed platforms to the Smith and MP 2.0.
