Hey ESAM! I'm Squidplumber's coach, and I play Sephiroth vs him a good bit. I'd have to disagree when it comes to ledge because 9/10 Sephiroth can wait and then do jump fair from ledge and it goes through all of his projectiles. Not to mention you don't have to jump when you do fair wall cling, you can drop down and do it again, jump, drop down octaslash, etc He actually has a super rough time ledge trapping me when we play the matchup. The only thing that's ACTUALLY annoying in the mu is that most of the dlc characters (minus my main, Joker, because Joker persona 5 moment) have TERRIBLE ledge jumps, and can't ledge jump vs axe like the base roster. A lot of times, I'll press jump at ledge while the axe has already hit the ledge, and I'll still get hit. This makes throwing axe somewhat of a checkmate if you space it right.
Squidplumber had an amazing run, and it’s nice to see the Belmonts in top 8. Unfortunately, it’s not the first NA major top 8 for the Belmonts, T3 Dom got 4th at MSM 240 (OrionRank category 4) back in 2021
Will you talk about how 2 Little Macs made it pretty far in the bracket, those being Alternis (didn’t solo Mac) and Peanut (placed 13th with solo Mac).
I can't believe he won that last game. He went from getting 3 stocked by just Squirtle things to bringing back an entire stock and a half deficit for the win
I disagree that Ned's missed flare blitz in game 4 wasn't a big deal. Even though he was at 180% before he did it, he still missed and ended up SDing. He paid the price for feeling himself a bit too much and trying to style on Squid by going for a Yeet Smash clip. There were several other moves he could have used to secure the stock without putting himself at risk. Considering how close the game was in the end, this absolutely ultimately cost him the game in my opinion and goes to show you that it doesn't matter how far ahead you think you are, you shouldn't be just throwing stocks away.
@@SpyderBey I know, and it’s not a dig at ultimate’s balance Most of the top tiers are (think: snake, pikachu,joker,pac-man, olimar, etc) are objectively broken but are balanced by the humans that play them due to how mentally taxing/precise they are
I'm pretty sure Noxumbra was the first Belmont to get top 8 in a major, at Ultimate Wanted 3. But yeah, Squidplumber is the second one.
Yeah UW3 was the first Belmont top 8 run. But back then not many people talk about the European scene much at least until before VCA that Peli won
T3 Dom also got 4th at MSM 240 (Summit 3 qualifier) if that counts
@@ry-x msm not a major
Except that was in Europe. Squid is the first Top 8 in North America

He mentioned at the start that Dom is taking a break which is part of why it was so surprising.

Yeah. Squirtle is a minus 1 matchup I believe. Charizard is plus one and ivy is plus .5
It’s honestly kinda insane to me that both Belmonts and mega man are the hypeest I get as spectacular
thanks for another great video.

But what if
9:40 wtf? howd the projectile travel like that?
It has insane horizontal distance of Belmont is grounded and doesn't hit a surface
It always sends at that angle. It just doesn't hit the ground as early if he does it on a platform.
The trajectory changes depending on if the attack is active while the Belmont is grounded or in the air.
Hot take: Rather than lose it instantly, Sephiroth should hold onto his wing until he hits the ground again.
Agreed Ned shouldn’t have died there
11:39 I didn't know that Ivysaur knows Water Gun.
probably just got razor leaf mixed up.

I think glitch is a supermajor
After dq's it wasn't anymore
It was big, but Cosmos and tweek DQing kinda pushed it over the edge of not being "major" levels of stacked.

It was a major on OrionRank but not according to Liquipedia
One of the weirdest names I've seen in a major
You mean one of the best?
I think more highly of Sephiroth than you do, Esam, but yeah he still isn't great. He's mid high tier, high high tier at absolutely best.
Are we sure this guy is bottom tier?
Homie dies so easily off stage
He’s a balanced character in a game where everyone is busted
Very sure. He’s just busted online where nobody can deal with Holy Water at ledge.
