@7:05 lowering/raising the car most definitely affects its performance. Cars are designed with specific suspension geometries and handling characteristics. Once you lower or raise you start messing with them. Things like roll center are impacted, suspension arms can't effectively move through their full range of motion, shocks lose their travel and bottom out, alignment specs can no longer be achieved etc etc That's why adjustable arms and things like RCA bushings exist :)
Good points. While lowering a car infers lower clearance and thus potentially less drag, messing with high performance exotics can be a recipe for disaster. They are set up at optimal height and stance for the best possible performance. Someone commented on a prior video from this poster about people lowering R8's for a performance increase... People that are tracking exotics don't mess with this kind of stuff. Changing the aerodynamics of a super car without extensive testing is never a good idea. youtuber's love to mod car's to get views (Daily Driven Exotics....) but they really don't have a clue what they are doing nor do they care.
Yet another entertaining & informative video 🙌 *** another thing overlooked when upsizing or downsizing is the impact on ABS, traction control, stability control, and your differential *** if not offset by a change in tire size, a mere 5% change in overall wheel diameter can trick those systems and cause premature wear on your differential too !! ask me how I know 🥴
I know you say it's mostly opinion, but you make a lot of very factual points. Another thing to be careful of when upsizing wheels is making sure you get the right tires to maintain the correct rolling diameter. AWD Lamborghinis in particular can be sensitive to the total wheel/tire diameter changing with the way their center diff and traction control systems are set up. I know one of the first things I did to my Gallardo was to pull off the previous owner's aftermarket boat-anchor wheels and put some smaller-diameter factory option wheels on it just to avoid those problems.
I actually talked about that when I was recording this video, but ended up cutting it out because I thought it was too technical for me to properly explain. You're 100% right though, if the car is AWD, bigger wheels and staggered setups aren't ideal. I'm also not sure if that can do any long term damage to the car?
@@carproblems8547 Lol, I could see that turning into a mouthful on a casual video. Guilty of going there myself. I've heard from some pretty reputable sources (Ed Bolian among other dealer insiders that see stuff come through for service) that you can end up damaging the center diffs and exacerbating the already bad clutch wear on at least the old e-gear cars. I'm not sure about the newer iterations and dual clutch boxes on the Huracans.
You also slightly change the gearing as a larger wheel will slightly dull acceleration depending on how much bigger you go, and put a little more strain on your gearbox.
Don’t go big if you’re all about performance, there’s a reason all these race cars use small wheels GT3 race cars: 18 inch WRC: 18 inch F1: 13 inch(changing to 18 next year)
You have a 10 cylinder in the Huracan with an exhaust that makes more power and is lighter than an LFA. If I upgraded wheels on one of these supercars I'd go wider(if possible), lighter and stronger. Forgeline is one of the best wheel manufacturers out there. I saw a cracked aftermarket wheel on a McLaren at a track day in the hands of an advanced driver. If anything, smaller diameter and higher profile on the back of a rear drive car. Track video!!!!
My car came originally with 15's and I Upped them to 17's. But these are my Summer Tires and in the Winter i just go back to the 15's. I do notice and have noticed that it drives better on 17's of course Living in Alaska i can only have fun with it in the Summer and I also have the Car lowered so it drives Much better in the corners which i LOVE..LOL.
Weird that engineers with degrees and masters and even a phd, would know better on how a car that they designed would work best with specific wheels. I love how guys add on so much garbage on a car thinking their making it better, yet have no background in engineering.
Yeah I never really understood why people buy supercars and then modify them heavily. These manufacturers invest millions of dollars and years of research into engineering the perfect formula. Very rarely will you even come close to matching factory quality. I understand the appeal of making something your own, but most manufacturers offer extensive spec customisation, and if you can afford a brand new supercar, im sure you can afford to utilise the factory spec options. But hey, its their cars and their money so each to their own.
Josh’s neighbors prolly think hes a drug dealer
Who's Josh?
Shrek Official Oh Shrek
2:56 “Totally empty road, what do you expect me to do”. That right there is a mood 😂
Again one of the most informative videos on yt 😂 I’ve binged watched your channel twice
Glad to know im not the only one😂😂

I see Car Problems uploaded a video, I stop what I'm doing.
Three LFA’s ❤️. Love the content!!!!!
Oh yes, more good content , keep it coming !
The wheels must have acc!
Haha stole my comment but when I read it from someone else made me laugh

cheapish car + big wheels = nice car
expensive car + small wheels = meh.
No. That's just how ricers think.
honestly i love how relaxing his voice is but it also makes me want to pay waaayyy more attention
"Totally empty road what you expect me to do".... That killed me
Love Your Vids ❤❤

totally empty road, what do you expect me to do? (My Hero!) * hits subscribe*
You are absolutely correct. Don't mess with their R&D....making the car perform worse is foolish IMHO.

Track video!!!!
0:52 spittin straight facts
I think changing the height of a car changes the aerodynamics as well. Has there ever been a case were a lighter rim made the performance worse?
Great video. I think a lot of people aren’t aware of these issues.

What do you think about the Borla ATAK vs S Type for a Camaro? Do you know if there's a big difference?
I love the content but the sounds!!! :'( AMAZING!
Hey big fan of this channel!
I know it's out of the context of the vid but, where did you get that Pirelli hoodie?
Mauricio Ceara I’ve been wondering that for the last couple videos
16's on that 488 actually look kinda good tbh
Can you make a video on good first cars because I'm 17 in the UK looking into that subject. Also, maybe talk about your first car.
I actually go over my entire car history in this video ruclips.net/video/bgJKm51sKk4/видео.html
BRo do some modification video. it will look awesome on exotic car
jabulani do a video on your opinion on drifting cars

When are you gonna make a video of GTR skyline r34???????
Will wider wheels look good on supercars?

do you track your cars?
Yes.
@@carproblems8547 some track videos will be great :)
Big rims are like modern Audis. People are going to think about you in a certain way......
Awesome content, but I have to say even though it may be just the area you joyride in, the area your driving in makes me want to puke
Jacoby, we may be the same person
