The Cordless Carpenter Howdy- the flowers are the Lady’s project. She has a “green thumb “ for sure. Thank you so much for coming by and watching the videos. God bless you
Pople BackyardFarm Howdy y’all- thank you for watching the video. Building has always been a part of me, but building with logs is the ultimate for me. God bless y’all
Nice cabin build and good teaching. You never said what or why your building it. Great craftsmanship and I like the hoist you built. Lots of work done in 6 months.
Richard Bohling Sr Howdy Richard- we originally were just going to build a smaller cabin just to show on RUclips but decided to build something a bit bigger and use it for a small wood working shop and a place to store my old tools I have collected over the years. That hoist is sure a back saver and it’s pretty easy to move around even with a heavy log on it. I do appreciate you watching the videos. God bless you
@@TheBeardedCarpenter Thanks for your reply. You are the first person I have come across that has explained the dovetail geometry in building log walls. You did a good job and I think most folks have a better understanding of why you rotate logs and don't cut them into rectangular slabs to save the calculations. I did enjoy watching all of your videos to date and look forward to future ones.
Howdy Harold- thank you so much for the kind words. We would love to do some work shops but haven’t figured out the logistics of doing that. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Take care and God bless you
karen4you Howdy Karen- yes, things are a mess but I’m thankful for the hope that lives in me. I sure do appreciate your kind words and support. God bless you
Russ Howdy Russ- a person can do a lot by themselves if they put their mind to it and excercise caution. Thank you for watching and God’s blessings to y’all
Chris Kythreotis Howdy Chris- Thank you so much for watching. One video a week is about all we can do. The Lady spends many hours getting them ready to post. God bless you
jeff carpenter Howdy Brother Jeff- Thank y’all very much! We’re doing well well here- hope y’all are too. Been getting a lot more rain-11 1/2” the last week. Kinda slowed me down. How’s your project coming along? God bless y’all
Sydney McConnaughhay Howdy Sydney- l may have a few years on me but I still got some energy hehe. No plans for ever stopping for me. Lol. God bless you
Lucas Richard Stephens Howdy Lucas- thank you so much for watching. I am very happy to get to meet you. Have been watching some of your videos and I have to say you are a man of great skill and craftsmanship. Love what you do! God bless and keep you safe
That cabin is shaping up real nice Paul👌 Building the doorway as your going along sure makes things easier working around the project. You be safe out there and I’ll see you on the next one👍
Open Air Outdoors *LeRichebliss* Howdy brother- by cutting the openings as I go helps save on logs by being able to use the shorter pieces in a different round. I sure appreciate you watching the videos and for your support. God bless y’all
It is amazing to see how perfect your work is. You are making a lot of progress. I love to see your rhythm, it is slow but without rest and very precise. Thanks for your video. God bless you

Having them old tools in my hands is very therapeutic for me, but then, you would certainly understand that. Love how you can explain the history about the tools you show, it’s very interesting. Take care and God bless you
I've watched you spend hours making logs flat, never thought I'd see you round one off. Looking real good Paul. Won't be long till I can move in next door.

Virginia Reid Howdy Virginia- comin up slowly but surely. Can only work when it ain’t raining. Yeah, these logs have some weight to them but I don’t have to do a lot of lifting. God bless you
Howdy David- I have videos on laying out the dove tail notch. Go to the video playlists and watch these videos- Complete Log Latout Pt.2, Complete Log Layout Pt.2, Complete Log Layout Pt.3. In these videos I explain how I lay out a wall log. Hope it helps you. Take care and God bless you
The cabin is looking great. i thought cabins were built with full length logs then the windows were cut later. Seems like you have to be way more precise to pre-cut the openings.
William FromKy Howdy William- Thank you for the nice compliment. A lot of the old cabins were built and they cut the openings out after the walls were up. I like to cut them as I build because I can save on material using up what would have been cut out for shorter pieces. I put the shorter pieces that go between openings up after the header logs are up. I don’t have to worry about keeping them in place until they have something over them so they can be held in there place. God bless you
J F Howdy JF - you’re welcome to contact me by email and maybe we can go over it together. Thank you for watching, you’re much appreciated. God bless you
Cruze's Louisiana Outdoors Howdy brother, thank you so much for watching. I don’t get to work every day because of the enormous amount of rain we’ve had ever since I started. An average of maybe three days a week. I have some other things I do, also. Hey buddy, we got a squirrel hangin around hehehe. Just sayin....... Love your videos! God bless y’all
Wellllll...my first thought is for ya to build a super squirrel catapult and launch em into another county...something like this ruclips.net/video/p8sNQAz8TMw/видео.html. Hahaha! Hope you enjoy :-)
Paul, that's beautiful! Your workmanship, how they fit so nicely, and the wood is gorgeous! Funny thing is, I read in Hebrews 3 about the builder having more honor than the house this morning. I know I'm kinda late to the party, but do you have sills, sleepers, and floor lats? I've been reading in the Foxfire book about how they built wood cabins and have been fascinated! Have a good day brother Edit: I need not ask, only look. I'm going to enjoy watching your videos!
Austin Presley Howdy Austin- thank you so much for your kind words. I sure do appreciate it. Scripture has a lot to say about building. Pretty interesting.... Thanks for watching the videos. God bless you
Austin Presley Thought l would add a bit about the Foxfire books. I have several of them and they are full of mountain people knowledge. They are a treasure of information for anyone wanting to learn about the old ways. If you haven’t already you can go back and watch the videos from the beginning of the build to see how l did it. It basically is the old way of building but it has been refined quite a bit. Log building can be taken to a different level of precision. Blessings
@@TheBeardedCarpenter Thanks Paul, I've got to give honor where it's due. I've got the first 4 from my library at school, the library has 1 through 8. Funny thing is, while hunting, I began thinking about building a cabin to not give into fleshly thinking and it helped pass time when we weren't seeing much. I've got it down to dimensions, rooms, etc. I watched your first video right after this one earlier today, plan to watch them all, and reference if/when I'm able to make this dream a reality. @@TheBeardedCarpenter Thanks Paul, but I think it will be some time bc I'm 16 (almost 17, June 4), plan on college, and other things I can't see from here. I know that it is trivial and that everyone has their take on it, but could you show us your method of sharpening your chain saw? I can tell by the chips flying that you maintain a well sharpened blade.
virgil fisher Howdy Virgil- I have been sharpening my saws every since I have been using one. There are some really good videos on RUclips channels that may be able to explain that better than l can. I do need to do a video showing how l sharpen my tools. With my chainsaws I don’t file the drags, or rakers, too much because I like to have good control on how fast it cuts. I guess there is a happy medium with it. God bless you
Thanks for sharing, look forward to watching you work the wood. How long have you had the hand tools? You buy them new or used, don’t seem to see anything in the box stores.
