this cleared up so much for me, my first sponsor threw me into checking jobs and i had no idea what i was looking for or how to work the lensmeter. thank you so much.
Love the part where you mention driving 65 miles to do the exam. ACCURATE! Love your videos and I am currently studying to get certified and they have been amazing! I will be signing up for your site soon! Thank you thank you!
Certainly nothing wrong with having a lensmeter of your own but it is not required. If you have access to one at work you'll learn there. There is the lensmeter on paper on the website. The kits are no longer available and were not needed.
Downtown, Call Janet at the lab this afternoon. 800-525-1274 I have a few here. They are $75. She will take payment and then I'll get one out to you. The loaner program was shut down because of abuse. John
3:40 "PCD" = ? Perfused Capillary Density? Peripapillary Capillary Density? PCD. Primary Chronic Dacryocystitis? None of those seem to fit. Apparently it's something to do with the sphere axis. Maybe "Perfect Center.... something"?
Watch the rest of the series and start with How To Use the Lensmeter. Prism Compensation Device. Pet Cat Detector. Peripheral Centration Dial. People Cause Damage. Power Creation Device.
????? The lensmeter kit program was cancelled years ago because of theft and damage. Also just seems like people don't need it. If you asking the price of a lensmeter they run around $600.
Liza, Unless you plan to go into business for yourself I'm not sure it would be worth it? But if you want one the Marco 101 is still the way to go. You might find one used (be careful) for around $400 maybe. If it is practice you are looking for I'd offer to volunteer or shadow an optician someplace and ask them to show you. That way you might also have access to a wide range of lenses. A lensmeter without lenses is just an ugly paperweight. And you do have the LENSMETER ON PAPER exercises on the OpticianWorks website. John

Thank you, I'm trying to learn optics for my Ophthalmology exams and some of your videos have helped me with the concepts!
You are welcome. Funny - I know for a fact that many optometry students use them, but won't admit it... their instructors are the ones that tell me.
