- In this video I am starting a new series to carve and paint a Wigeon Drake hunting decoy. This video covers band sawing out the head and body and then carving the head of the decoy.
Super video this never gets old just a pleasure watching. Thank you !
Thanks for your encouragement Hunter. I appreciate it.
Hi Chris, I’ve just watched your video, they always make me smile. The way you make everything so easy and simple, the sign of a true craftsman, I just wish I could be so relaxed and comfortable. Please keep them coming, I’m off down to the shed now to try and do some of what I’ve just seen.
Happy times.
Thanks so much! Have fun carving. 👍
These gunning birds are such a good decoy to practice your skills on and build your confidence as you get your anatomy correct. I began to using a carving glove on my left hand while using a grinder and a knife. I just cut myself too many times before I began to wear a glove. Love these videos and thank you.

Thanks Bruce. Good safety tip!
It's always a pleasure to watch you carve Sir. It never gets old. Such a blessing for you to share your knowledge with us. Thanks so much. Cheers from Ontario. I was thinking about making minor mistakes ,let's say on the bill . If I take off too much wood ,I will have to make a repair. A suggestion for a video on how to correct mistakes without having to scrap the whole head. We all make mistakes and wonder if you might make a video on that subject. Not a demand just an idea for a quick video. Thanks,
Thanks for the feedback and suggestion! Will definitely give that some thought.
I always enjoy your videos Tom. This should be a fun project.
Thanks Brian!

Thanks a bunch for starting right from scratch so to speak. I have a couple nice blocks of Tupelo that have been sitting in the shelf for quite a while and your approach helps me get started correctly.
