I bought a BluGuitar amp 1 a few years ago and loved it, I e-mailed them at the time suggesting the sell the power stage as a stand alone unit for those of us who like stereo.
i loved everything about this. thank you to everyone involved, for this kind of resource is so, so important, given the overwhelming amount of choice available for studio gear. An amazing track, an amazing video cut, and solid information. there's tons of dialogue in this episode that i'd really like to sample, edit, effect, and put into my own music- all of it in a wide, defined stereo field. gratitude.
Editing in: Thank you for another wonderful music video as intro. Tons of effort, very impressive. Needs more eyeballs on. And you noodling/improvising is great. The enjoyment is on your face. Best explanation of a logo EVER! 🤣 I think pedal makers need to hire CIOKS for some power supply design tricks. I think class D stereo amp, with a nice analog front section would be cool. Or perhaps I'll just put a tube pre-amp pedal on a stereo D class amp pedal ? That could work. XLR out would rock.
I agree with u entirely about the stereo experience. I tried it out years ago and never went back to mono. My first rig was a JC40 and an Ampeg SVT3 with the Ampeg classic 4x10 cab and I completely fell in love with that tone. Long story short, i lost all my gear and started over, now im running an Egnator Tweaker 40 combo and a JC40. (Yes i re-bought the JC40 since i love that clean tone soooo much. Lol) the JC40 adds so much clarity and the Egnator blends in those warm tube tones for the best of both worlds. Eventually i plan on getting a 3rd amp and trying out wet/dry/wet. Thinking about getting something cheap like one of the Joyo Bantamps, and using the JC40 as my center dry.
Absolutely, brother. The best stereo field comes from two DIFFERENT amps and/or cabs that process the signal differently. I've found that a tube amp on one side and a solid state on the other makes for a quick 'sure thing' in a diverse stereo field. By JC40, I assume you mean Jazz Chorus, which is solid state, so it looks like you and I both stumbled upon the same key ingredients! Have you made your guitars stereo yet? Oooooo doggy, now that's cooking. You could run your neck pup into the JC40 and your bridge into your Egnator, and it'll sound like two guys playing the same riffs. Super phat!
Well said, Henning! Stereo all the way!! That's why I don't have more combos or heads (just one of each), and I prefer rack preamps and stereo poweramps instead. If my tone is good, why not make it twice as good?
To your comment about being paid from the company, a big reason I have been a subscriber for years is your no holding back tell it like you see it reviews and your lack of an “inside voice”. Keep um coming!!
VERY true, it's a different level altogether. Was about to give my old SS amp away but used it for Wet/Dry Playing through a stereo or Wet/Dry rig is the best experience.. more than a nice guitar/amp/pedal.. it's physics. You can do it cheap as well.. I built an ABY pedal to run 2 SS amps.. And one can run their effects much deeper and fill the room with ambience without getting washed away. Cabs and speakers give the most return for one's money.

First time runing my guitars and basses into a boss delay with a stereo out and leading into two amp rigs has opened the world to space guitar, ambient... that time even postrock was not a thing. That was 20 years ago and I played in shabby punk band. That time I knew stereo delay in two amps is the best to get taken away by sound. It is pure biofeedback on guitars 🤣

How would a solution like this compare with say a pair of Quilter Interblock45s? Advantages/Dis advantages? I don't like the fact that you can't turn off their cab modeling. The 2x Quilter option seems more flexible in that you can do a stereo setup for studio and non-PA gigs, and a mono setup for many clubs (where they may not have enough channels for you to run stereo, depending on the size of your band), but this certainly seems more convenient... Hopefully they will make the cab modeling bypassable in a v2.
What if u used a load box like the two notes torpedo to work around the cab sim out on the amp and just used the output for a real cabinet? I do wish they had an on/off switch for the cab sim, but that should work as a get around
the D20 is a cool form factor, but the onboard Two Notes stuff is going to make it obsolete at some point. Kind of like some of the weird onboard guitar effects and synth stuff over the years. In the long view, get a good amp and outboard the effects/DI/Sim things which are getting smaller and cheaper very rapidly. We will probably have a bluetooth app based thing we're using within 5 years and skipping the pedal form factor completely

What does stereo really mean related to a guitar? In the Hi Fi (home stereo) world stereo means the source was recorded with a left and right mic so you get the time delay ( sounds from the far left take longer to reach the right ear and vice versa). This give you brain the info it need to hear sounds as if the are more to your right and left but i suspect this is not really what a stereo effect is for the single out put of one instrument...

No need to double-track in the studio since you're capturing two distinct tones at the very same time. So even THIS Thermion won't satisfy my needs, because I need two inputs, two sets of controls, and two outs on a stereo amp to handle both my signals. One of the reasons running stereo sounds good is because I'm running two different amps that delay and process the sound differently. The small difference in delay and EQ and compression, and drive totally adds to the stereo field. Do you get good sounds with that? I just had weird phasey low cut tones, sold the Mimiq within 3 days.
@@DIYguitarGuy It is a bit phasey of course because of the effect, but it needs to be stereo. Mono-everything sound bad in that pedal.
It sounds best when you don't try to overdo the effect. Think of it as a reverb-kind-of-effect, where you use it as a spreader in the background and not as a "full 100% wet"-rig
Absolutely. For example, John Petrucci plays in stereo.
@@einjarjar Mine changed the tone way too much, tried it pre or post gain, different amps, subtle or big: nothing worked, especially with chugging. Good for you that it works well, maybe mine was a bust
I play metal. Stereo is an absolute for me.
Powerstage 700 is about the same size and is stereo.
yes, but it’s only a power amp
@@EytschPi42 Which allows you to use tube preamp pedals.
Waw, this is good.
*laughs in rackmount* I’ve had no issue with stereo gear
Hahaha. Nice!
"if you play metal stereo is not necessary" *laughs in ambient black metal*
*Laugh morphs into entire album*

Good song.
Sounds like fuzz through a katana. Solid state sucks for dirt
F***, now I want a stereo rig.
Rafael Cano!?
could I get your merch without that huuuuuge 90's green and pink logo? just make it small and put it in the corner. 😏 that's not what she said.
Spanish product means "built like a tank"
Yah bull shit. Roland has the JC 40 now with L/R input but a mono FX send to a stereo return. I communicated with Roland if they would fix this I would by the amp. I asked if it could be modified & they said yes but there goes the warranty.
No Stereo is like guitar players stopped in the '60s. You wouldn't want to listen to to any music in mono is you don't have to. Keyboards sounds 33% worse in mono. Probably guitar could sound much better in stereo. Maybe guitar playes lost hearing on the amp side war that it doesn't make a difference 🥳
Thats what we use the Roland JC 40 for ...
Like the boss katana 2x12 100w.
Why the f k is that not running in stereo 🤣🤣
Such novice design from a big player in the industry 😑😑
Ibanez and it always fucked up clean tone.
Agreed... Bullshit... Give me stereo.
Also, nice to see the boss pedals getting a showing... Strymon seems to be all anyone talks about any more... Boss is the sound I grew up with and love... Not saying they are the best, but a solid choice and always deliver what you expect.
Yeah - it's got 2 big problems imo a) it's too big/heavy for a pedal board b) it's digital and therefore not analog/tube amp quality clean or reverb tones. But plenty good enough for a church or home practice probably
it isn’t digital
Everything always a sale. That what it’s about I suppose.
First?
yes
