    Excellent Video. The manual says that when checking the level, NOT to screw dipstick in.

      You are correct my friend. Yeah, I realized that after reading the manual, go figure. When I finally checked how much I had put in, it was right at the max line. Still very difficult to determine the oil line my humble opinion. Thanks for the comment btw. Looks like you're into sports cars, I've got an '85 Porsche 928 S Euro, I'm resto-modding.

      @@ocdmoto i can never really tell how much oil is in my 660,its so hard to read properly

    • @kaischwenke
      @kaischwenke 8 месяцев назад +2

      @@geecee4746 same with me... black dipstick drowned in black oil is hard to read. Personally, I lay the "oiled" dipstick cautiously on a white tissue. Hence, you can read the oil level on the tissue. Works quite well with me, however, a lighter dipstick would do but I haven't found anything on the aftermarket yet.

      @@ocdmoto No instruction is needed to read the oil level correctly. When the oil dipstick is screw-on, then it always just rests without screwing and shows the level.
      Second, when the oil filter is unscrewed, then the lower screw should remain unscrewed.
      Third, oil should not be poured into the oil filter. It makes no logical sense. Only pours more oil for that amount!

    Gracias por el video, todo OK, no obstante, en el minuto 4:22 cuando ya está el aceite cambiado y mides si está a nivel en el varilla, da la impresión de que roscas la varilla. El manual para este modelo indica que no se debe roscar la varilla para medir el nivel. Desde el ángulo de la cámara da esa impresión; que roscas para medir el nivel. Un saludo y gracias por tu trabajo.

      Hola Carlos, tienes buen ojo amigo. Me di cuenta del procedimiento adecuado después de leer el manual y estás en lo correcto. Cuando lo verifiqué correctamente, estaba en el límite máximo. Utilicé el traductor de Google para entenderte y responderte, así que pido disculpas si la traducción no es 100% correcta. Gracias por tu comentario, cuídate.

    I've subscribed to your channel as a potential tuareg owner, not many people doing dedicated uploads for this bike...

    • @ocdmoto

      Really? I've actually noticed quite a bit of channels popping up highlighting this bike. However, I agree with you, they may not be 100% dedicated to the aprilia Tuareg 660. It's funny cause I'll watch some of these other videos and wonder if I can offer anything more or different, hell, half the time, I'm like, "wtf, who cares what you're saying or wants to look at your face?" However, they're getting way more views. Regardless, one reason I'm making these videos for the viewer who is in your very situation, which I was in before taking receipt of the bike, basically super excited about the possibility of getting this bike, wondering if I should get the T7 instead, and watching every related RUclips video out there. The other reason I make these videos is because it gives me something to work on and try to perfect, gotta have goals in life, right?

    The owners manual says not to tighten the dipstick when reading the oil level, also that you should warm the bike for ten minutes before taking a reading

    But I have an important question: How do you remove/reset the "service" icon on the dialer?

    • @ocdmoto
      @ocdmoto  Год назад +2

      I think the only way is by having the service department at the dealership do it. I thought my light would bother me, but it doesn’t and I’ve just left it on.

    if you fold some aluminum foil - and place it under the oil filter - upon removal you won't get oil all over everything when removing the filter. Just a cool tip.....just drips right into the pan. Pro Tip : you don't hafta remove the catalytic aluminum shroud for oil changes.

    How did you reset the maintenance lights?

    • @ocdmoto
      @ocdmoto  2 года назад

      I haven't yet. I mentioned in one of my more recent videos how there is a flash update for the dash and and another for the fuel mapping. I might get take the rag in to get those done and ask the dealership to reset that service indicator, but not 100% sure yet. I guess the fuel remap was necessary for those bikes with "that issue" at around 3-4K rpm, which I have never experienced on my bike. Not sure if I want to mess with something that's not broken, plus, I think the dealership will charge me for the update, which I think is horseshit. Oh, and I'm pretty sure that one needs to take it in to the dealership to get the light reset. I have the 400+ page shop manual and couldn't find anything about resetting it without the interface found only at the dealership.

    How much oil did you end up adding in total

    • @ocdmoto
      @ocdmoto  2 года назад +1

      Hey Tim, just under 2.5 quarts. When I finally figured out how to properly check the oil, I was at the max. You're not supposed to screw the cap in when checking, as I incorrectly did on the video.

    Thats total BS that you cannot reset the service light by yourself...I think that says everything about the company trying to squeeze you into having to come into the dealership...inconvenience and cost of travel etc. ...and it's not like these guys have a large number of dealerships...ha no, very few. Thanx Aprilla wankers, I'll pass.
