Hi Chris! I hope this message finds you well. I had the pleasure of meeting you at restaurant, and even though I was a bit star-struck and didn't remember your name at first, I wanted to let you know that it was truly a highlight of my day. Thank you for being so kind and approachable, it really made a difference. Keep up the great work on your channel, and take care!
Great vid mate!!! One question about the system, let’s say you record at 100fps, when you replay the short one the monitor, does it play at 25fps or can you see the slow mon on replay?
Fun system - but it seems (to me anyway) that the tracking shots not useable with that amount of vibrations. I hope that there is some way på dampen the Z-axis when using the flex system.
Can you do an image quality comparison between the 4d and the S5II? The image quality from the 4D doesn't look very good in all of these videos I've seen about the flex cable which doesn't make sense because it's supposed to be full frame. If the image quality is worse than a $2000 mirrorless camera it's probably not a very viable tool even for indie filmmakers.
This is very interesting. Tell me. Wasn't there an Osmo version of the X5 or X7 camera that you could use on a boom? I saw this once in an event on a 5 Meter monopod to shoot over a crown. I cannot find it. Please help if you know.
Who is your friend Martin Whiteknock? I know I not spelling it correctly but that is how the CC of the video spells it? Does he have videos shared on RUclips also?
The firmware for the flex breaks manual focusing lens autofocus for me. (When it detects a face it backfocuses) Anyone else have the same issue? Dji have been no help
The main advantage of Ronin 4D is the 4th stabilized axis.... which is not available when you detach the gimbal head... doesn't this defeat the purpose?
From one side it looks fantastic, on the other hand - it kinda look like solving problems that DJI has created by itself. With normal camera you could just use a regular gimbal and it would work just fine. Maybe not so sophisticated and but quite good and more universal.
I agree! Modularity is the core basis of all cinema level cameras. I realize not every camera suits everyone's use-case, but you put it perfectly! If DJI gave me a free camera I'd say neutral to nice things about it too.
Hey ... I m 16 years old girl. I m a little sketch artist and a contemporary dancer.. i want to create my own RUclips channel but i don't have any good camera or iphone and i can't afford it. So if u have any old iPhone or old camera tht u don't use nowadays so please help me ❤️🙁🥺
Wow...., DJI must be spending A TON of money to promote this camera system. I see it everywhere now....., to bad its so specialized its useless for most people. This is interesting to me because a casual assessment of the camera is that its a joke so the media barrage and the 'diplomatic' sounding reviews are hilarious. DO you know anyone who describes this thing as an interesting camera. For me this calls into question claims that all these reviewers make that they're opinions are their own. This statement while being admirable doesn't mean you are not going to say nice things to get a free $12,000 camera. Most of us would do it but don't try to convince me its night when it's 10 am. I appreciate your work in creating this video as it confimed my opinion of this camera. Combining the gimbal in the camera body is not only unnecessary but to me is a waste of money if you can only buy one camera body. I just picked up a Ronin S for $ 250 CAD ! Can't beat that for second had as most people (hobbyist) bought gimbals and never used them.
I bought this camera for music video and commercial shoots and it's absolutely amazing. The 4th axis stabilisation is steady cam level stuff if you can use it properly, way better than most other gimbals. You can still use it as a normal cinema camera and turn the gimbals off if that's not your thing, or put it on a tripod, and the image quality is great. 13.7 stops of dynamic range, in built NDs, up to 120fps in 4k, great highlight roll off. It's a lot less specialised than people tend to think. It's really gotten a bad wrap. Trust me, most people who have actually used it are pleasantly suprised. I just love the ease of it and how creamy the footage looks, especially now with the flex and the raw license you can buy.
This camera is literally perfect for everything I regularly shoot. Maybe for some it’s not a great choice, but the best part of this industry is there’s about a 100 different cameras that are also amazing. I will be buying a ronin 4d and am very excited for the amount of time and money it will save me. This camera was built for a specific audience. I am that audience and I am so pumped to get one in my studio
It's specialized, but amazing for those applications. You also don't complain about a Drone not beeing a good all around camera, but we can agree that Drones are amazing at what they do... That doesn't mean you should buy a Drone if you only buy one camera...
I feel the thumbnail is CLICK BAIT. SORRY. YOU DON'T PUT WTF IN A THUMBNAIL THEN LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.. LOL. IMO. WE ALL HAVE THEM.. SORRY... MIKEY
Why does this read like a telegram? 😂 CHRIS I FOUND YOUR THUMBNAIL MISLEADING STOP I WANTED YOU TO HATE IT STOP Great video dude! Loved the practical applications of it
Probably down to the lens, it's got 13.7 stops of dynamic range, really smooth highligh roll off. If you use a cinema lens it will look great. I would personally never use DJIs lenses with the 4d because you're right, it looks digital and non-filmic. It's more about how you use the camera, and normally digital looks come from the lenses! Watch comparison videos between the Komodo and the Ronin, most people actually prefer the footage that comes out of the Ronin image quality wise, and this is even more true now that we can buy the prores raw license and get true raw footage (shame that it isn't compatible with DR though).
Losing the 4th axis stabilization makes the pole the same as other pole mounted gimbals. The 4th axis is what makes the 4D shine
true !

Such a great review!
This thing is so crazy! I can't wait to get mine!

great video again, keep up the good work man💪
" I want to show" change scenes "him". I SEE YOU CHRIS!😄👌
This just looks fun as heck to use
Insane stuff!

Shocked. Wtf ?❤🔥
Hey Chris, great video -- any chance you can share what is the make/model of that monopod?
and the details of your ifootage car mount? Thank you!

Is the long boom arm included? Can we buy this separately?
Can you buy the raw license so we can see what the Pro Res Raw looks like?
Cool!✌️
Great vid!! A buddy of mine says DGI instead of DJI too. LOL. It's easier to say. 🤷♀
Hi Martin 👋
Whats the over under on companies using the Ronin 4D? 100?
nice Hau
I swear this guy lives in LaBrea apartments. My apartment looked just like that
Is it possible to get audio with the flex??
The firmware for the flex breaks manual focusing lens autofocus for me. (When it detects a face it backfocuses)
Anyone else have the same issue?
Dji have been no help

WTF. how much vibration does the gimbal have
none, but the operator seems to have a bit here.

Cannot beat fx3/a7sIII with twice higher rolling shutter results...
Hi bro
DGI or DJI ? 🤭
why DJI don't send it to MKBHD? by the way nice work Chris!😉🙃
I’m sure he’ll get it at some point :)
what is Chris, chopped liver‽

WTF is a pretty ambiguous title. It can go either way. It also means it can be “positive” or “negative”

Image quality sucks on the ronin 4d. Looks so digital
