The real issue with sapphire is that it reflects much more light than glass, and this is why it hasn't made its way to smartphones yet. The image look less crisp/bright through saphire, which is exacerbated outdoors, under sunlight. There are plenty of fitness watches using sapphire glass and you can see the difference for yourself

In the heating test the "glass" just melts which glass does not, glass explodes at high temperature, that's why in car crashes there isn't melted glass everywhere cause glass explodes and does not melt. Also, in the mohs scratch test, sapphire is a 7 - 8 in a hardness test which means it would have been scratched by that pick or material.

sapphire is very brittle however. that's where sapphire fails in comparison to Gorilla glass. its impact resistance isn't as strong and is why although it's a lot more scratch proof. It isn't used in phones as the screen is much more prone to breaking

When you did the heat resistant I can’t help but notice you reduced the flame for the sapphire glass which doesn’t make it a fair test when the glass has more feathering from the heat then the sapphire did
Fire Away not necessarily, the more blue the flame indicates more oxygen which means the flame is hotter so technically the flame was hotter in the test insuring most protection. Also the glass may of reacted differently to the flame with not a smooth burn and caused the yellow flame

You have to think of sapphire crystal as transparent steel. I always buy a watch with a sapphire crystal, it's worth paying the extra price.

Glass bends to 2.769mm, saphire only to 2.591mm in the test. So it's NOT more flexible. But it takes more force before breaking.
