- The Kanden Tunnel Trolleybus (関電トンネルトロリーバス Kanden Tonneru Tororiibasu) is a Japanese trolleybus line between Ōgizawa Station, Ōmachi and Kurobe Dam Station, Tateyama. The line does not have any official name. The 6.1-km line runs almost entirely in a tunnel, except for about 300 metres at Ogizawa station and the approach to it. Opened in 1964, it is one of only two trolleybus lines currently existing in Japan. The line is a part of Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, together with another trolleybus line, Tateyama Tunnel Trolleybus.

Good morning and welcome to the Black Mesa Transit System. This automated BUS is provided for the security and convenience of the Black Mesa Research Facility personnel. The time is 08:47 AM. Current topside temperature is 93 degrees, with an estimated high of one hundred and five. The Black Mesa compound is maintained at a pleasant 68 degrees at all times. This BUS is inbound from Level 3 Dormitories to Sector C Test Labs and Control Facilities. If your intended destination is a high-security area beyond Sector C, you will need to return to the Central Transit Hub in Area 9 and board a high security BUS. If you have not yet submitted your identity to the retinal clearance system, you must report to Black Mesa Personnel for processing before you will be permitted into the high security branch of the transit system. Due to the high toxicity of material routinely handled in the Black Mesa compound, no smoking, eating, or drinking are permitted within the Black Mesa Transit System. Please keep your limbs inside the BUS at all times. Do not attempt to open the doors until the BUS has come to a complete halt at the station platform. In the event of an emergency, passengers are to remain seated and await further instruction. If it is necessary to exit the BUS, disabled personnel should be evacuated first. Please stay away from electrified wires, and proceed to an emergency station until assistance arrives. A reminder that the Black Mesa Hazard Course decathlon will commence this evening at nineteen hundred hours in the Level 3 Facility. The semifinals for high-security personnel will be announced in a separate Secure Access transmission. Remember, more lives than your own may depend on your fitness. Do you have a friend or relative who would make a valuable addition to the Black Mesa team? Immediate openings are available in the areas of Materials Handling and Low-Clearance Security. Please contact Black Mesa Personnel for further information. If you have an associate with a background in the areas of theoretical physics, biotechnology or other high tech disciplines, please contact our Civilian Recruitment Division. This is one OF THE best SNOW CORRIDORS IN THE WORLD. SAW IT IN APRIL OF 2019. Also loved the seven transport options on this corridor. 20 MTR snow mountain was spectacular..
Down one of those side tunnels must lead to secret gundam hangars. Brilliant really,hiding in plain sight.

Like the coolest thing ive ever seen! love how they bow/salute the unit and wave at departure. great respect for a seemingly great system!
They do this for trains as well. The main reason is for safety: it forces the staff to always be aware of moving vehicles. Because it's an action everybody can see, it allows supervisors to check up on their awareness but also creates social pressure, i.e. embarrassment, if they are caught unaware.
I'm glad to hear that it's not just our western languages that seem to have a "speaker enhancement" problem in busses/trains and other ways of transportation.
Interesting. Here in Arnhem they ride these as ordinary city transport. Never seen them as dedicated subway like this.

In Malaysia, we have RapidKL bus which has its own highway made for connecting RapidKL LRT
This is originally DAM warker's transport of Kurobe Dam, one of biggest dam built early 1960's. This route is open for public for sightseeing of the dam and Kurobe mountain of Japanese Alpine.

It is the influence of the fracture zone that the tunnels are wet.
It was illuminated by a blue light in the middle of the tunnel.
A fracture zone is a rock crushed in rock and contains a lot of groundwater in the gap
It is a soft stratum.
In this tunnel excavation work, it made the most difficulties.
It was normally planned to be completed in 10 days, but it took seven months to break through the fracture zone.
The blue coloured section at 7:54 was very trippy - straight out of some dystopian future like Blade Runner. They should do that with the whole tunnel...
This is a spot that represents the difficult part of construction in a place called a crushing zone.
Only the section is blue to identify it.

have to ask this if I may, since these busses run on those Overhead Electricial Wires, what would happen if the power suddenly Cutout, I mean, do these busses have something in the way of Backup generators on them just so that they would still be able to keep Going until the power is restored Or would all of the busses just stop dead in their tracks, and not be able to go again until the power is restored?????
they can run on the auxiliary engines when the power goes out.

bow arrow Trolley buses usually have an accelerator, a brake and a steering wheel. You have to drive near the overhead wires. This is the noisiest trolley bus I've ever heard!

It appears to be Tateyama Tunnel Trolleybus if I am correct, it's in Toyama prefecture, west Tokyo, north side of Japan, google it, I find it on Wikipedia =). And it's seems to be pretty cool to visit and walk to this location. Next time in Japan I think, I'll give it a closer look ;)

これは複数台でワンセット運行が基本なのですか? よく見るとヘッドに付いてるライトも最後尾の色だけ違い、最後尾車両を知らせるライトなのでしょうね。ヘッドライトも先頭車だけが点灯するのですね。 面白いなぁ~ 乗ってみたかったです…

Very cool! The electric motors need better sound insulation but otherwise, this was fun. Another thing to add to my list of things to see in Japan.
Always compared this to the Dual Mode system in Seattle before the LINK LRT was built. The European-built dual mode buses ran in the tunnel to Convention Place station before they had the LRT system go down there. In 2018 or 2019 buses stopped running in the tunnel with LRT completely.

What's with the roof lights some green some yellow
From what I can see, it appears the yellow markers are used on the final vehicle. The rest use green. Visual cue for the operators that no more buses are coming in the other direction I'm guessing.

Bloody hell that's anxiety inducing. The engine sounds like an air raid siren, whilst that girl endlessly calls out spots on the wall (there's nothing else to see, so I am guessing) at a million syllables a second, and you get periodically blinded by the lighting, all the while feeling like you are in Honey I Shrunk the Kids except you're in a bus and progressing along the large intestine of The Terminator.

I'd more interested with those pantographs switching lanes.
They don't use pantographs per say, they are trolley poles like early 20th century trams had. There's a dedicated switching system, although they could be designed to be spring loaded so that when facing the switch, they are set correctly, and when coming from the other side, the trolley pole moves the switch mechanism temporarily to pass through, before the spring returns it to the previous setting (i.e. to route oncoming vehicles correctly). Bastante interessante. Os japoneses são bem cuidadosos e organizados. A umidade no interior dos túneis parece não atingir os cabos de energia.
No começo eu pensei a mesma coisa.
Parece ser a mesma razão que o bonde pode funcionar sem problemas até mesmo em um dia chuvoso pesado.

電気バスなら、架線要らないし。
+長縄卓 +railfan aunz お二方に聞きますけど、関電のトロリーバスにしても、VVVF車両に交換してからそんなに経ってませんよね?だからと言って、老朽化で済ますのはおかしいよ。それと冬場は運休なのに。あと、交換前のトロリーバスは結構、働いてたし。
交換前のトロリーバスに、高校(←定時制ですけど)の修学旅行で乗った経験のある私には何だか複雑です。

This electrical bus has two overhead lines. How is it possible to use the same overhead lines for two directions? One is Plus, the other is Minus. Why is the electrical bus not driving backwards? In one direction the polarity is right, in the other direction the electrical motor should rotate in the other direction because the polarity changes.
One wire is simply a ground.
Are you sure that it's not alternating current?
Would a polarity changing relay switch really be that hard to include in the dashboard?
Think it through...
I'm pretty sure the bus has some sort of controller between the power and the motor, which allows the motor to spin forward regardless of the polarity (and also control the speed).
