- In this episode, we'll install the essential GTA SA mods which make the game much more playable on modern systems.
So, we'll be installing an ASI Loader, CLEO, ModLoader, SilentPatch and more in this part of the guide, as well as learning about most of them in-depth.

NOTES/UPDATES:
- At 11:00 - I mentioned modders prefer to use ASI plugins to alter memory over CLEO scripts, I should've used better wording here as I make it sound like CLEO is never used to alter game memory. In fact, a lot of CLEO scripts are used to alter game memory, however ASI plugins are USUALLY preferred when doing more complex stuff.
- CLEO 4 has been updated to CLEO 5, however CLEO 5 is still in early access. So for now, I've changed the link to the latest version of CLEO 4. Simply click on "assets" and then "CLEO4.zip" on the Github page to download CLEO 4.
- At 33:26 - I recommend changing streaming memory to 512MB. Unfortunately this seems to be too low for some people, so my new recommendation is 1024MB (1GB).

There is a new version of ultimate Asi loader do we now use it over 4.68?
@@BygoneT Sorry I should've specified in the video. It doesn't really matter, when Ultimate ASI Loader gets an update, it's usually just for additional game support as far as I know.
Just download whatever the latest version is and forget about it once installed.
@@TJGM Hm, ok, just as a note I followed every other step perfectly, the only difference being I used the 5.0 version now available and the rest of the mods simply didn't work.
I could do a quick test by replacing only the asi loader tomorrow and let you know how it goes, I'm out of juice for the day 🤣, It took me a while to figure put the problem and it made my stream a bit problematic, but the guide itself is so good even my 12 year old self couldn't have misunderstood. Love the work you put in, I even joined the discord. The attention to detail and explanation, even showing the page as you download is what sells it to a noob like me. Thank you again.

A thing which a lot of tutorials miss and I'm really happy you show is you actually showing what to click for downloads rather than just saying "download this from the link." Helps to make sure you download the correct file while also avoiding malware. Thanks man!!

Appreciate this series. Ive been wanting to mod GTA SA since i was a kid and seen fast and furious cars and all kind of things in the pc modded version of the game. Very simple and not overwhelming guide.

I myslef never modded SA because it was way too complicated and the game by itlsef is still the best game ever, but with your help I can finally do it.
Also: I checked the torrent site we have in my country since like 2004 (edit:2005) and still today the number one downloaded game is SA, of course :)
and a personal anecdote: when SA came out and my friend gave it to me to try I was like "meh" while installing because I thought new games at that time were improving so much and thought this will be just an average game for some unknown reason. Well, biggest and best surprise in my life.
I cannot wait to get this working hopefully tomorrow, and I am excited like a child again :D thank you so much again!

I've been thinking about more guides. I think I'll do III/VC in the future, kinda similar to this, but not as in-depth.
The SA guide can be used as a base and people can watch this first as it is the most complicated, then work down to the III/VC guides.
As for IV/V, I'm not too sure. IV is getting some exciting new mods in the future though and it will change how we install mods in that game, so I might cover that with a guide.
@@TJGM I'd love a guide for GTA IV/V as I've always found installing mods for the RAGE games to be particularly way more difficult than the Renderware games.

I think my previous modding adventures of Elder scrolls Skyrim has made this process a lot easier since my game folder is outside programs
A lot has changed since I played SA-MP in 2009-12. As I used a pirated copy at that time I never had any issue with the mouse or other glitches with downgrading to 1.0. Maybe the cracked version was fixed in some way or another.

This guide doesn't cover controller support because people ALWAYS mess up their controllers with third party software and not everyone has a controller to follow along.
If you follow this guide completely, at the end search for a mod called GInput. This adds full controller support to the game, install it the way the mod tells you too. :)

I was about to start complaining about the asi loader not functioning till I reinstalled it, turns out my copy of the game (pirated) replaced the modded vorbisFile with the one from 2003, requiring me to reinstall it. When I did all of the essential mods you've recommended began functioning. Thanks for such an informative video!

If people are having trouble with ASI Loader "Unable to load CLEO.asi Error:5", I wold recommend downloading and using Cleo 4.4 and not v5 since its still in alpha and its having some problems. Also CLEO 5 is getting detected as a Trojan Virus by Kaspersky and others.

hmmm, open limit adjuster... this might affect dyom's limitations, i figured out that adding 10-20 large objects can crash the game depending on where your character is currently placed, limit adjust should fix the crashes, only problem is other people have to install it when they play my missions
this man dservers so many more subs im half drunk and able to follow this guide perfectly without a single fuck up and i rarely hav to rewind

Hello TJMG, excellent tutorial, you have no idea how much it has helped me, I only have one question, set 512 streaming memory in open limit adjustet as you said, but the mods: improved streaming and mixsets also ask to set a number for streaming memory, so number Should I put those mods, the same number that I put in Open limit adjuster?

Hey, do you recommend framerate vigilante ? It seems to resolve a bunch of issues and allows you to play the game in 60fps. With fps limiter on, the game still runs at 60fps. It's weird but for some reason even with this mod installed, having your frame limiter off makes you not be able to zoom in our out while looking at the map. What do you think about it ?

After installing and adding all essential mods the game was running fine.....
Next day it shows an error
"cannot find 1536x864x32 video mode"
So i search and got suggested to overide dpi in the properties of gta_sa.exe....
And it worked, will this setting be fine for modding?
Im having an issus where when i close the game it refuses to close fully and when i open task manager it stays behind the game, what do i do😭
So is the game starting allowing you to play at all or crashing at Launch ect?
The only issue I'm having with this guide is Widescreen Fix. When I use the old version it doesn't really do anything to fix the HUD, it stays stretched and the fov feels weird. When I use the new version though, everything works perfectly fine and nothing is stretched and the fov feels nice. I think this has to do with my monitor being 1440x900, but I'm not that sure. Any thoughts?

When speedrunning in GTA SA you flick your mouse down to refresh the traffic ahead of you while driving, would the limit adjuster ruin that strategy?

7:30 A quick sidenote to other people who may face this problem. I had to try twice before my game was able to load after installing ASI Loader. In my first attempt it kept freezing.

I got a question related to the widescreen mod, why is that when I use it, its difficult to land headshots on enemies? Now I got to aim on the side of the head instead of aiming on top of it and its really weird, I wonder if its something related to the F.O.V or anything like that. Try limiting your fps to 30.
this is still too complex for me. Luckly i found some San andreas trilogy version that has a DEP mod. which makes it look kinda nice. I wonder what is your opinion TJGM on the DEP mod out there which makes the game look kinda slick.
Sir, i used cleo version 5 first time. after quitting the game it gives a black screen with a written version at the bottom left corner. "cleo v5" and after that i had to start from the beginning again and installed version 4.
I have this weird thing where I install GTA SA, mod it and then get bored of it and uninstall it. And a couple years later I reinstall it and mod it again. I think this is my 3rd round

Hmm, for some reason, when I instal this latest Silent Patch, the game is just refusing to open, but when I have an older version, it loads just fine...

@@TJGM Great ! The biggest issue with GTA IV is that the modding has been divided into different versions. Instead of focusing on one version like GTA Trilogy Classic, the modders have focused on different versions.
@@flametornado491 That seems to be changing now. I think a lot of modders are going to stick with the latest Steam version, which will hopefully be the last.
Yes it has issues, but they're getting fixed and it should become the best version of the game to play/mod soon.
But I agree, I've always avoided modding IV simply because of how messy it was to downgrade. Older versions had features missing in newer versions, but mods would only work with older versions. It never really felt like you were getting the full experience.

Still rocking a Fujitsu Computers Siemens 5:4 sqare monitor with 1280x1024 resolution.
The Author still recommends Widescreen Fix, even on square resolutions. Because it fixes the FOV and cutscene borders. And the frontend removes the pixelated hud
Hello brother, I have a little issue with the Modloader. I am doing exactly as you are explain in the video, however when I start the game, the files that supposed to appear doesn't. I gave all the permissions to the folder of the game, to the Modloader folder but still without appear me the files that I need. What should I do? Did I skip a step? Thank you bro.
cool stuff, but Ultimate ASI loader breaks my game whenever I load a new game. The game hangs when its about to finish loading then CTD's. Any ideas on what to do?
Hi, i've done everything you showed up in this video, step by step, and in the end when i installed open limit adjuster and changed the number, when i installed all the mods, my gta_se.exe stopped working. Now i click both executables and neither of those starts, not even from steam, do you know any solution on this?
Edit: nevermind, i went to settings in the gta_sa exe and click on the compatibily, enabling it to windonws xp (service pack 2) and it worked. (Sorry for my bad english)
i really miss the days when all you needed was SAMI and a mod that supported it.
I am trying to convert the classic AI Police helicopters, used in both GTA 3 and Vice City when you reach 3 starts in the respective games, I'm struggling with how can I even start to actually implement the systems of these helicopters on GTA SA, (I already have the source of the original script used to activate them in GTA 3 and VC)

Does anybody know how to solve the problem with not loading textures of modded cars/bikes in the game? They are just white... I've created a sub-folder inside the modloader and put all the .dff and .txd files inside. Do i miss anything? Thanks guys.
