This was Jim Henson's very LAST appearance as Kermit in The Today Show. The very LAST appearance of Jim Henson as Kermit in GENERAL was The Arsenio Hall show.
@@batman369ableyea, her new voice and puppeteer is doesn’t come close to this, he’s not as sharp as frank oz nor as funny as, and the vice is just horrible.
Even though I wasn't around during Jim Henson's lifetime (born in 1991) it's still sad to think that in just under 2 weeks after this aired he would be gone :(
Yo, I was Lmao the whole time. Piggy “Deborah ask your questions, do your Job” then when they arguing she yells to Deborah “please but out” Piggy ruled this interview lol “Don’t touch me” lol
I had no idea that they broke up before, how strange. This wasn't very popular back then until a few years ago. Still changed a lot since the official breakkup
There was going to be a whole campaign about Miss Piggy being single in the 90s. Their break up was going to be all over media. When Jim Henson died just 2 weeks later, the idea was quietly scrapped.
Wow, so Kermit and Miss Piggy were supposed to break up during Jim’s Time. I guess I can forgive the abc show’s decision now, since it technically wasn’t the first time.
Jim was planning a marketing gimmick called Pig Of The 90s, where Piggy would break up with Kermit and strike out on her own. This seems to have been the start of that.
I’ve been a Muppets fan my whole life, and this interview just breaks my heart. Jim and Frank were the best of friends for 30 years, and Jim has been there when Frank came into his own as a director. Jim loved Rocky Horror Picture show. This is the last time Jim and Frank preformed I’m public together, and Jim died just 12 days after this. He never got to seen What About Bob and Franks other great movies. And Frank lost his best friend. Bert lost his Ernie.
I really can't watch any post 1990 Muppets anymore. I liked the 2011 movie, but the real Muppets were when good ol' Jim was alive and it just will never be the same. The 90s Muppets unfortunately were what I grew up with because I was 1 when Jim died, but thankfully I got to see older Kermit/Bert & Ernie sketches if Sesame Street played them in a newer episode. I know they're trying to keep the magic alive, and I think it's what Jim would've wanted but I prefer the 1970s/80s Muppets.
Jim Henson knew The Muppet Show would have a life in reruns. He didn't want the show to wear out its welcome. And if the people behind Sesame Street (and many other television shows in general) could realize this, it would be all for the better.
MuppetRocker this was Jim’s last time ever playing Kermit. Usually, Kermit would sound low, and then get higher pitched when answering a question. He very sadly died 12 days after this aired.
