DJI Literally tell you not to fly in wet conditions eg.rain/mist. Last time I checked…waterfalls are wet…It gets into the air intake and damages the battery/electrical systems. It also voids the warranty.

You crashed because there is an optical flow sensor on the bottom. This is also why drones can have an uncommanded descent when flying low over water, this sensor can be confused by reflective waves

Here's why you *do* buy the DJI FPV drone. Get the motion controller for it and literally *anyone* can fly it. So far my dad, my sister, a couple of my cousin's kids and a neighbor kid have all put more total air time on my DJI FPV drone than myself (I fly regular race quad and fixed wing). None of them have ever flown anything before. 2-3 minutes of ground school, and learning how to turn in a hover, I tell em to cross over the powerlines above the poles (it can't see wires) and just set em loose. None have ever crashed it. Even got my dad chasing my plane around after his 3rd flight, in sport mode. THAT is what this drone is for. Not diving waterfalls.. ;)
yea it’s already like 800g *without* a GoPro, what do you think is gonna happen. plus, even with a proper DIY cinematic drone you don’t fly through a freaking waterfall even IF it’s coated. now, it’s objectively correct that no one should buy the DJI Potato in the first place (especially in 2024), but the reasons given here are pilot error and sheer stupidity.

Suggestion: Build a 5", use conformal coating and silicone to _"waterproof"_ it, after a healthy dose of RUclips University on the subject. You may be able to get away with the spray afterwards. But a full dunk? Naw, no way.

Everyone saying you should expect this from getting a drone wet. I flew my old Parrot Anafi in heavy fog, light rain and and even snow storms without any trouble or long term effects. Just let it dry off good afterwards

I crashed my mavic mini on the roof of my condo while drunk, 5 months later some contractors got it down for me and I sh*t you not it still worked with a new battery and blades.
DJI makes good filming drones which are drones that shoot stable shots like if u re making a film scene, they have pretty good stabilized camera systems but for fpv drone pilots, y’all better go with some other brands bc I personally own a DJI mavic 3 pro and an Avata2 “fpv” drone which just came out this year and I don’t feel like the Avata 2 is as good as those DIY Fpv drones in many circumstances such as diving shots, throttle power etc. DJI ‘s products are not financial friendly😅 as well bc they re intense to make your money. Hopefully they update their Fpv drone better and better but now it’s just a game of capitals. 😅
Can you send a link to the action camera mount? I bought a small rig one but the camera sits too far back and you get terrible vibrations in the footage, and high winds warning during a crystal clear morning. It handles fine but is pretty useless. Deffo need another mount n try again.
Man I was hovering over a river, there was no wind or anything that could of made it crash due to pilot error, no more than 100 feet away from it and yes I had a fully charged battery. My drone and gargles were updated with all updates.
The second crash I doubt was a control issue, you have no perception of height over glassy water, float plane pilots have special training for landing on glassy water cause it’s very easy to smash into it without knowing
The hand controller has a glitch in the software and it comes straight from the factory that way not all of them have it but the drones that are getting lost that's why

I got a DJI Fpv about two years ago and it has been the most fun I've had in my life, I highly recommend it.
A normal fpv drone is cheaper and better

If you really want to fly it on a wet condition immerse it first in mineral oil.

Put like a small wood stick or something when flying it around lakes to prevent the drone from sinking. İt floats wich makes it ez to rescue
