There aren't nearly enough jobs in the market to keep all the people in it gainfully employed; plus all those millions graduating each year. Economy is finished.
Amazing content Stefan. I’m currently a student at a university in Florida, majoring in business analytics and information systems (which yeah basically trained you to become a data analyst). I’m a senior now but i feel like i learned shit in the last 3 years (despite getting all A and paying tons of money). I learned from your videos way more than in the college classroom.

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this video. Nowhere else I've seen someone "telling it like it is" in such a concise way. THANK YOU! Subscribed to Luke's Channel following your recommendation as I also see data analysis as a stepping stone.
The video inspired me a lot. I am a beginner in the field now and I will work on myself during this year. I want to see this comment after I get the job as a data analyst.
*Is he an angel? He distributed the treasure of knowledge for an IT job aspirant in just 11 min for which 99% people are confused enough to leave their aspirations because they can't figure out what to do and let alone from where to do.*
Considering I am extremely broke, this was MASSIVELY helpful bc you recommended FREE ways to learn various things, and I desperately need that. I also need to know what skills will be most useful to hiring managers and recruiters AND how to effectively prove it in my CV, so that was also very appreciated. The very structured approach to this video was extremely helpful, thank you very much!
Thanks Stefanovic for such motivation. I am on career reviving stage after 12 years gap. Struggling so hard for last 2 years but couldn’t make it up. I am a mom of three kids but keenly passionate about my career. Hope i will be succeeded in establishing my freelancing career as a DA. Thanks once again.
I am in a similar situation after helping care for my parents, albeit I regret not spending more time with them as they are both deceased 5 years and 9 years ago respectively.
This hit home for me. I quit my day job to pursue a data analyst job at the beginning of the year. 1100 hours later, I am now applying for jobs and not having much luck. I guess I just need to continue at the grindstone. I learned Advanced Excel, SQL, Python, and even have the Tableau data analyst certification along with a Portfolio. This has been and will continue to be a journey.
I wish you luck, but... I already see a pattern that Data Analyst is just a buzz word, so many "job" applications end up as offers for paid "experience", courses, etc. I was following the EXACT path that was shown in the video and any entry DA job is just a smoke in the mirror for me, at least in the UK. And GOOD LUCK trying to compete in international freelancer market against thousands and thousands of competitors.
Learn PowerBi. I have used both and there is a reason it’s prefixed with Power. The data modeling capability is far superior and it’s a Microsoft product that integrates seamlessly with every other Microsoft product that companies use. Tableau is good for pretty and easy graphs, not serious data analysis.
Really a good video, As conveyed in the video. I have got the interdepartment transferred. And now I have every opportunity to work as a business analyst. The third suggestion is that do not quit is the golden one .
My beginning with Excel and Power BI was through some Create and Learn book series, and LinkedIn learning. material very fast to consume. Now I am doing some more advanced books like Guide to Dax and courses on linkedIn as well.
By far the LEAST boring video on this subject I have found yet. I loved all your "outtakes" that weren't actually taken out. I kept cracking up. Also, this is exactly the video I needed as I am in a transitional phase and scoping out options. Thanks for the great information.
I've been planning to switch my career to become a data analyst, but I didn't really know where to start, and then this video appeared on my recommendation, it's such a blessing! Thank you so much for the information and knowledge you share!
Thank you so much for this. A friend sent me link to a site to pick from a bunch of free video courses few weeks ago, guess what? I ended up picking Microsoft excel and even though it has been a struggle really, I consider this a good sign to carry on. Thanks again.
I was already thinking of becoming a Data Analyst before discovering your channel! I'm going to my last year as an Economics student at university and will be studying data analyses as you recommended meanwhile! And yes, it will be a stepping stone, to what? I don't know yet. Once again great content, keep it up!

I was impressed by your video; it's the best one I've watched this month. I've seen over 10 videos since the beginning of the month to find the perfect roadmap for becoming a data analyst, and yours stands out. Thank you for sharing your insights😊
When I applied to too many jobs, I lost valuable opportunity, because likely I got blacklisted because I failed on my interviews or the tests, thus reducing the short list of companies in my country that are looking for certain job candidates. Better strategy is to prepare very well and then to slowly start targeting the companies you want to consider as employer.
You have made a very generous gesture with this video for those who want to better understand what this profession is about. That's why I want to thank you. Greetings!
I use to look at jobs and think I can only use excel, I'll never be able to use SQL. Had a quick look and I've got this. Yes the first bits are basic and I know it will get harder but I will start using this in my job and learn power bi which I'm not a fan of right now. Then python but this I think will be the tricky one for me. I use to think it's going to be to hard, need to be a super programmer or mega smart. Don't put your self down people! You got this, if you can use excel moderately well, SQL will come to you. I'm not amazing at excel like some but I'm sufficient.
I needed this video. I've been on the journey since the start of 2022 on becoming a Data Analyst. I would say that I'm extremely well in Excel, and I would rate myself as an intermediate in SQL (I actually enjoy using SQL). I'm actually a bit nervous about using python since I've attempted to learn using it in the past and it was just a tough language to learn. I know that a lot of jobs don't require it, but I also know that it is a preferred skill to use, and that it'll help with the job search faster. Once I'm really comfortable with SQL, Python will be my next move. Hopefully I'm able to land a job soon! I already have a couple portfolio projects done thanks to Alex and Coursera. Just needed something to kick me back into gear.
For a long time, i thought that people who use excel are boring. And i knew i was wrong about that. But now after seeing you explaining in a fun way, i'm sure now that these jobs aren't for boring people. Thanks a lot❤
I always tell people start with excel, sql, python, and statistics (using the free SAS training videos), and then power bi/Tableau. Then if you want to go further learn predictive analysis/forecasting. Definitely build your portfolio, and you only need one solid project tbh. I did all that an now work for a very flexible aerospace company.
I don’t think your humor is getting enough credit 😂 but that’s because there’s so much value in this video. You went out, took risks, achieved these things, and freed yourself. I can tell you don’t take yourself too seriously and that is serving you well. I’m inspired. Subscribed.
Awesome video! I stumbled onto bioinformatics as a field because I needed to learn how to analyze RNA-sequencing data during graduate school. I fell in love with the discipline and I'm going to look for a data science job after I graduate!
Amazing explanation of the required steps needed to achieve a Data Analyst position, but also a great transition when you mentioned that you're on a new, different path now!
I am currently pursuing masters in Computer Science and engineering and now found this amazing video so from today onwards my data analyst journey starts and now i will comment on the same as soon as i land into my first job. Thanks for making such an informative video
if you are already studying computer science and are interested in data you will probably be qualified to start as a data engineer or data scientist rather than an analyst when you graduate
I just subscribed. I decided I want to be a Data Analyst a few months ago, but with zero experience whatsoever, and I believed it would be a fun and easy journey. I subscribed to Udemy class on Data Analyst and Data Science (I guess I had no idea of what I was doing), and they started off with Python programing language. Goodness me, I am about to lose interest in the whole thing. I am kinda discouraged, but after stumbling into this video, I would follow your recommendation. Thanks, and hope I would find it better this time
It's always confusing and frustrating when one has no cliue or directions to follow in the learning process. his video has given me a spirit of no retrent or surrender until success is achieve.
As an experienced BA, agree with you with a stack for the beginners but with slightly higher weight towards Tableau vs BI tools because of its popularity amongst businesses, at least in UK. Obviously it doesn't matter so much at the end because if one can get a handle on any of these tools (visualisation tools), learning and switching to the other is not so problematic as picking up new programming language. On a side note, loved how you pronounced languages "Java" & "JavaScript" at 04:07 with that eastern "J" 😅.
I work as a software dev consultant and got a job offer to work as a data analyst which I know nothing about but I'm using Qlik sense and excel for test purposes its super interesting but it is TEDIOUS! So if you're unsure if you like it, this a good place to start. SQL is very powerful and its a lot more fun to use than excel but wait until you're fully interested in it and don't worry about the math that will come later.
Very uplifting. I've got over thinking that I need to study a lot and was feeling rather apprehensive, but now I've cleared out that I know a lot and just need to go with more practical task!
Hey man. I just watched your video. Its been so helpful. Plus the way you create humor as well to is very nice. God bless you. I'm going to start from the excel practice!
Just stumbled on this channel. I'm totally new to data analysis, but im currently considering a career in it...although I studied something completely unrelated. I was really confused on what steps to take first. Thanks for this eye opening video
Why did I just find this? This video is the BEST so far! Not kidding I was so confused about where to start. Awesome job explaining everything so well to a beginner like me.
This was so wholesome and so funny.😄 I was getting frustrated at my progress(almost quit)as I am learn python for data science. This helps a lot. I'll continue with python then to sql and power bi.
Thank goodness you're the first video i clicked when i searched for a data analysis video. Very straight forward on what to learn first. Very helpful for a learner like me .
Great video! And it appears I'm on the right track in terms of stuff to learn. I really like Enterprise DNA for learning Power BI - And if I remember correctly, their "stack" of software is almost the same as yours, except that they have a 5th system: PowerPoint - For effective communication of the analysis that you've done. And given how well PowerPoint and Power BI are now starting to integrate, I'm inclined to agree. But anyway, love what you've said and you have a new subscriber :)
I understand your personal goal and it's awesome. Even if you made few videos about data analysis they're really thorough. I follow your channel for your wisdom in every aspect (life, work and ect.). I can't wait for your next video. Cheers.

Excellent video, it actually represents how I got into the roll. Educated in something completely different and somehow found my way into data. I’m currently just over a year into been a junior business intelligence analyst, learning SQL and power bi as our main reporting software. Before we got bought out by a different company I created various KPI’s and datasets in excel so once we transitioned I was quickly offered a position in the BI team. Unless I missed this I think something what gives a advantage if it’s a internal position you are going after is to have good business understanding. I feel like it has helped me when querying data and has given me confidence when peers and other sectors have queried certain reports etc. I suppose this comes over time when analysing but I believe it was a massive factor for me to get further involved In the data analysis world. Keep up the great videos!

Starting my journey as Data Analist. I will do my best. Thank you for the video! it helped me a lot!
The best Video EVER found about DATA ANALYSIS. ! Undoubtedly. Loads of Love for ya
Glad you liked it!
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this video. Nowhere else I've seen someone "telling it like it is" in such a concise way. THANK YOU!
Subscribed to Luke's Channel following your recommendation as I also see data analysis as a stepping stone.
Glad it was helpful!
Stepping stone for what?
@@realmheart3751 you’d know if you watch the video.
You read my mind and you sent your message before mine. I was just watching everything step by step and it all clicked.
What a great video. Started with Excel and brought the idea of PowerBi to my first company. Python is the next step
How did it go?
Hi , i hope it went well . Mind sharing?
How's it going
Just learn to bake pizzas and start selling them
hey did you have any prior experience? any degree before you started!? please let me know and good look on your journey!
Covjece kako dobar video. Umira sam od smijeha na nekoliko trenutaka. Storytelling, shooting, editing. Stari moj, pa ovo je vrh!
Dude....this guy's humility and humor 💯💯💯!!
Best of luck !!
Amazing !
... wishing you all the best! mom here too (of two, tho) checking out new career possibilities.
I am starting over again, too, after a long journey of caregiving for our parents. Good luck!!!
Just keep at it man💪
I wish you luck, but...
One day, I'll land a data analyst role. Needed this video for direction. Thanks so much.
My beginning with Excel and Power BI was through some Create and Learn book series, and LinkedIn learning. material very fast to consume. Now I am doing some more advanced books like Guide to Dax and courses on linkedIn as well.
Not looking to be data analyst but still watched and liked the video. Quality content.
Haha same, I just finished my Bsc in Economics and Statistics.. Starting Msc in Econ.. But planning to opt for this
Stepping stone to a Data Scientist ?
Im watching this video, because I know few guys that literally play games for half the work day and make more than me.
This comment is so accurate... even for data scientists bro.
Haha same here with my frontendfriends
Excellent video, I've seen tons of this "starting" videos and you actually gave practical and specific tips to start. Thank you!
You Opened my eyes, Man!!!!!!!!! Thanks for your Advice, Especially that Don't Quit Line.
Your videos show so much depth, not just in this subject. But, for life in general. What a gem to stumble upon your channel on RUclips. Fantastic work. 💪😎
Thanks for the kind words bro👊
Greetings!
Brilliant advice to become a data analyst. No-one give me such a clear vision on how to learn new tools. Thanks.
Good to hear this from you, I would like to seek more guidance on data analysis from you if you don't mind .
Hey,hows it going with your studies?did you get job as da?
For a long time, i thought that people who use excel are boring. And i knew i was wrong about that.
But now after seeing you explaining in a fun way, i'm sure now that these jobs aren't for boring people.
Thanks a lot❤
I always tell people start with excel, sql, python, and statistics (using the free SAS training videos), and then power bi/Tableau. Then if you want to go further learn predictive analysis/forecasting. Definitely build your portfolio, and you only need one solid project tbh. I did all that an now work for a very flexible aerospace company.
How much time does it take to finish all of that?? If I'm slow learner?
@@gunnersinvincible1390 It really depends. 5 hours a day for 4-6months straight is a good indicator
Sir, can you suggest some good resources for learning Power BI ? Also, where does one find a "solid" project from ?
I just turned 15 and I'm more interested in this domain rn so I'm looking forward to learn more about it just for background expierience
Much respect Stefanovic, this is a brilliant vid. You literally hit all the points from start to entry to exit...WOW! Much appreciated.
You have reduced lot of efforts and time of mine to find the right path and resources... Tons of Thanks 🙏
Amazing explanation of the required steps needed to achieve a Data Analyst position, but also a great transition when you mentioned that you're on a new, different path now!
How well have you progressed?
This is the exact path I’m following I’m currently taking excel then next semester I’m taking sql. Nice video.
You got this Christian!
I am currently pursuing masters in Computer Science and engineering and now found this amazing video so from today onwards my data analyst journey starts and now i will comment on the same as soon as i land into my first job. Thanks for making such an informative video
Good luck mate!
if you are already studying computer science and are interested in data you will probably be qualified to start as a data engineer or data scientist rather than an analyst when you graduate
Good, can we start the journey together as a way of encouraging and motivating each other on the journey.
I love your sense of humor and your direct advice.
Cinematography, editing, and storytelling/content on point man. Not bad🙌🏻
I'm an absolute first timer and this is soooo cohesive and comprehension. Really awesome explanation - love it! Thanks
Haha I'm not the only one who noticed his special pronunciation.. I wondered why and you explained it. Thanks lol
@@jathebest2835hes dutch. J is pronounced like that in dutch.
Thank you so much for this information, and the comments below, are very, very, helpful!
Even when this video is on serious note of becoming Data analyst the creator of video made it hilarious by some of edits. Nice one...
Don't quit! I've already took some certifications and i won't quit. Thanks!
Hey man. I just watched your video. Its been so helpful. Plus the way you create humor as well to is very nice. God bless you. I'm going to start from the excel practice!
I just enrolled in a masters programme in a UK university and been thinking same. I actually want to use data analytics as a stepping stone as well
Dankjewel voor de duidelijke uitleg! Ik ben momenteel aan het onderzoeken hoe ik datajournalist kan worden, dus dit komt zeker goed van toepassing 😊
This is an amazing video with all the details required to a newbie in the Data Analyst Field. Thanks for this. I learned a lot from your error.
Your videos are a big inspiration! just started out my own youtube (from my experience as a data analyst) All the best!
I'll continue with python then to sql and power bi.
going through the same thing and I'm blessed to have seen this video on RUclips tonight
Can we just take a sec to appreciate the amazing video editing! Great content!
I understand your personal goal and it's awesome. Even if you made few videos about data analysis they're really thorough.
I follow your channel for your wisdom in every aspect (life, work and ect.).
I can't wait for your next video.
Cheers.
bro you have earned a subscriber weather you like it or not i love it seriously keep it up.
Justo estoy aprendiendo diversas herramientas y con este vídeo veo que voy por buen camino, actualmente me encuentro perfeccionando SQL para luego avanzar con PowerBi y Tableau, muchas gracias por la información
I started my career as a customer service manager, pivoting into the D.A world to increase my personal value, Thanks for your deep insight,it came in handy
Hello sir. I am a computer science graduate. I wanted to become data analyst. Could you please guide me to have some experience. Like could you guide me to choose real time projects on data analyst.

You just showed me the path vividly.
Thank you for your help. 😊
you are most genuine youtube i have ever seen , love from india
really appreciate the honesty; lots of videos here romanticize the role and the journey without actually saying anything, and this helped focus my vision a lot
One of the most coolest videos I have seen, enjoyed bits of fun, humor and seriousness it has, overall super informative.
Passed it on to all of my friend that can benefit from it.
Thanks you!
Hi Stefan, thanks for making this video. I was quite curious about data analysis, but I had no idea where to start. You have now solved my biggest problem with great ease. Thankyou, once again! ❤
Odličan video bratski 🥂
You are an incredible content creator. Thanks for this helpful and still entertaining video!
Love your channel! I'm in the same boat, creating content about making money online, but my channel struggles to capture attention. Kudos on the remarkable growth of your channel!
Thanks, Stefan. Exactly what I needed to hear. I'm going to take time off from my 9-5 as a technician in a battery research lab to travel with my computer and learn these skills. Onward and upward. Cheers
This is day 1 of learning for me and I am going to start with Excel. Good luck with my journey in becoming a data analyst.
How are you doing? How’s the experience so far?
I'm pretty sure you are already working on this type of content....but I'd love to see more about your journey as a Freelance Data Analyst too!
