In this video, you will learn How to Install / Upgrade RAM in HP Notebook 15-ay008tx Laptop. New HP Notebook comes with internal 4GB DDR4 RAM Memory, but that is not enough for some games and video editing software like After Effects, etc. So I am Installing an additional 8GB DDR4 Ram on this Notebook / Laptop to increase performance. The laptop I am using in this video is HP 15-Ay008tx Notebook with Core i5 6200U, 4GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB HHD, and 2 GB Dedicated Graphics Memory. In this Laptop there is not an option to install the RAM Directly from the back, to install the RAM you need to open the whole bottom base of the Laptop. How to open hp laptop back cover?? I have created this video with a full Disassembly process to make the installation easy.

I have the exact same laptop with the i5 processor and the amd r5 graphics card do i have to buy the ddr4 version?
TricK i Know i have 8 gb ram already in slot ..so is that 2×4gb ..then how possible there may be no vacancy for ram
A word of advice: if your HP laptop is slow and showing 100% Disk Usage on Windows Task Manager, consider upgrading to an SSD rather than adding RAM, as a high percentage of 15-Series laptops HAVE FAULTY HDDs. A 240GB SSD will cost roughly the same as 8GB RAM (April 2020). I learnt the hard way, and ended up paying for both.

Thank you! This actually happened to me after Microsoft upgraded my HP laptop series 15 (bs289wm) from win 10 to win 11 a month ago. The machine slowed down to the point of being useless. It would take roughly 45 minutes after boot to complete win 11 load and ready. Laptop came with a 1TB HDD, 5400 RPM. I replaced the HDD with a 1TB SSD yesterday, using AOMEI disk cloning software and a Sabrent SATA/USB cable. The difference is unbelievable. When I turn the laptop on, it boots to Win 11 in less than three seconds now. The laptop has 8 gig RAM and now works perfectly fine. Extra RAM does not do anything unless you are using a very large spreadsheet and are number crunching massively. Extra RAM has no effect on web browsing, word processing, etc.
I've the same issue of 100 percent disk usage and can't do anything. It's even show it when no app browser is open.
I upgraded both and my performance skyrocketed. Upgraded to a 500GB Samsung SATA SSD, and another 8GB stick of RAM. I use the 1TB HDD as an external drive.
Best RAM upgrade video I've seen, by far. Everyone else completely disassembles the laptop, removing keyboard and everything. I'm so happy to know this doesn't have to happen. Thank you!!!

I really hate that many manufacturers make the laptops impossible to upgrade them a customer without to loose the warranty !

And is the reason that my next laptop will have small covers for ssd and ram to remove them easily for upgrade.

I went ahead and did this upgrade myself with the service manuals HP provides on their own website. Consumers have a right to repair and companies do not have a legal basis to refuse warranty on user serviced devices as long as the user did not directly cause any issue. Hate these dumb stickers trying to undermine laws and common sense.
Fun fact: Here in the USA, that "warranty void if ahead and play around.

Thanks for the helpful advice. It is accurate and made things much easier. I have an HP Laptop 15-db0011dx, which is very similar. Only the screws hidden under the rubber feet were a little different. Alas, when I got it open, I discovered one HUGE difference: HP only soldered one RAM socket to the motherboard. Where the 2nd socket should be is an empty area with bare copper solder-pads. I would solder a 2nd socket in there myself if I could, but half of the contacts are under the sockets, and only a factory soldering machine can solder down the RAM sockets. So it isn't possible to upgrade it to having two RAM modules. I bought 2 Samsung 8GB modules, and can only put one in the machine. So HP saved 25 cents by not supplying a second socket, and cheated me out of 8 GB of expandability. That also prevents interleaving two banks of RAM to get a speed-up.
Or is this HP's way of blackmailing us into buying a more expensive laptop that has both memory sockets?

Thanks for the help!! My HP does not have two RAM slots, but I was able to go from 4GB to 8GB RAM (top end for this machine) and the speed uptick is VERY noticeable. Keep on rockin' in the free world!!!

If my laptop has only one RAM slot which is 4GB, Can I remove that 4 RAM and insert 8 GB RAM. Will that work/support?
Ya sure it will work , but then the 4 gb ram will be useless. You can sell it with your friends 😀

@@TrickiKnow omg this was my worry as well and I couldn't find an answer nowhere in the web🤷♂️ According to the third-party apps I install, have 8 gbts Ram but only the 5,9gb is usable (I don't get it) and dual-channel ram running in single mode. I guess that means I can upgrade, But my biggest worry was what if I don't have another slot? Is it worthy to make the upgrade in this case? I own a hp db 1019series and I get mixed feelings because I get mixed test results. Speecy and cpuZ saying that I have single-channel memory, Aida dual but runs in single-mode that and crucial says dual channel that can be upgraded up to 32. Your answer was sent by angels.
