S2000 was made in Japan in the same factory as the NSX. It was made in the Takanezawa before 2004 and then the Suzuka plant after. I think only the Jazz and the Civic are made in the UK.
The NSX was a mid mounted engine rear wheel drive. I think he meant the S2000 is the fastest traditional FR layout (Front engine, rear wheel drive) Honda have ever produced.
Put some decent rubber,a proper suspension, and tune the engine a little bit and that S2000 will beat the shit out of anything on the racetrack. Well maybe except some 4wd turbo beasts
@jeffbautista the point that... it is a stock civic, just a special addition. you wouldn't way the Mercedes AMG is not stock!!?? right? so just like in this case it is a Civic type RR stock, a fully production vehicle. duh lol
He said that the mugen RR was the fastest Front wheel drive "On sale" so I'm assuming that he meant the s2k was the fastest Rwd "On sale" Not ever produced
Singapore itself have 3-6 left there used to be 10 of it one was exported to Brunei. The rest was probably deregistered in storage till reregistration after refurbishments from Japan. currently there are 3 on the roads of Singapore and I recently saw one without a spoiler looking chic. Really loved the car and it’s awesome that in Singapore I always get to see all the rare cars
true but also in a way, the s2000 is a bit of a type-R, it's just not badged as one. The vtec f20 engine although different to the vtec k20 engine still shares much much similarity. I'm also sure the s2000's handling is set up just as good if not better than any civics. Theres not much else honda could have done with the s2000 whilst still remaining a feasible road production car....it's fairly maxed to it's normally aspirated potential. All our euro 'type-R's' suck while s2000's are better.
@daz374 dude i know what you mean i own an 04 silverstone and i absolutely love it ^.^ its not like driving anything else, when i drive my parents car (accord) it feels like am driving a box around lol. and yea the j's s2k really isnt fair either let alone the ASM, but the MCR would be an interesting battle leaning more towards the MCR though haha.
@robert rose, I'm sorry, but get your facts straight. Ayrton senna DID NOT develop the nsx. Ayrton tested it for Honda because they wanted his opinion on the handling
@koalatoday I didnt say it was rice because it was Asian, i said it was rice because of the taillights and dual exhaust. Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements. You can still rice out a performance import car with poor cosmetic upgrades. Just like the car in the video
The Nsx-r in undoubtedly an amazing car. But not everyone can afford one. Atleast the Mugen RR is more realistic. I would also hope a S2000-R would also be more affordable than a super car.
Honda what happened to you? No more Integra, no more NSX, no more S2000, No multilink in the type R? Come one honda get it together. Honda of the 90's and early 00's AWESOME
the only reason he says the "japanese" civic, i think, he wanted to say the JDM Civic, because we do have an EDM version called FN2 that is manufactured in UK, which is a Hatchback and not a sedan like the FD2. ;-)
@ralatorre9 might I add the boss 302 kills things in it's price range but not under it, the 370z I would say is the best bang for the buck it has out gone evo and sti in every class of racing, I to am a car guy I've owned imports, euro's, muscle cars, but I actually road race and drift in the season and I have seen fast mustangs around the track just not on stock suspension parts if it's keeping up with stuff in the enthusiast class. which is all nearly stock cars.
Mclaren manage it with the new MP - rides like a limo, drives like...a Mclaren. Porsche manage it perfectly too - great comfort as an every day car, yet still thrashed most things on a track.
Ho una Honda S 2000 del 2008, è un auto a dir poco Fantastica altro ke Civic, la mia Honda è uno "Tsunami" di auto anche + grandi ne travolge.....tante!!!!
Lad you should use AP1 s2000 that revs at 9k rpm with jdm stock motor at 250 hp....Then we should see some real challenge....AP2 S2k is good but Honda made it more civilized that the AP1s...First models are more brutal one track and power!
The S2000 is a masterpiece!
Asif Aslam
I could not agree more!
Yes but it's slow
mugen rr practicality of having 4 doors and a 9k rpm redline awesome!
It's actually got an 8500 rpm red line. The S2000 has 9000.
i dont care what the figures say id still take the s2000.
the 3 million yen in japan
A stock s2000 which was designed in the late 90's and released in 99. Versus a Mugen RR costing around 30k. Way to go S2k.......👍
and the mugen rr is faster, 1 of 300 too
All that just to make you feel better 😂 the s2k is shit compared to the king Mugen RR
@davidvu396 It's hard to turbo this car. Because the rev range so huge, there's a definitely going to be turbo lag.
A mugen edition s2000 would have been a different story
mugen sounds great
One thing is for sure. He had a bigger smile while driving the S2000;
@katanamast279
No need to sell the RR, theres enough aftermarket support for the si now that you could build up one faster for less.
they're both Hondas. why is everyone complaining about fairness? haha at the end of the day, i think we can all agree on Honda love.
@jeffbautista that's kinda what I thought. why don't they put the mugen civic against the mugen S2000?
S2000 was made in Japan in the same factory as the NSX. It was made in the Takanezawa before 2004 and then the Suzuka plant after. I think only the Jazz and the Civic are made in the UK.
@johnniesi Have you seen the two race one another? Quite similar times most of the time
I think, and this is just a speculation, they were referring to the Honda's that were available as new on the market at the time the video was made.
although that may be true, I still would prefer the one in this video for not only performance, but the looks too.
The NSX was a mid mounted engine rear wheel drive. I think he meant the S2000 is the fastest traditional FR layout (Front engine, rear wheel drive) Honda have ever produced.
Has the new Type-R with the 1.6L Turbo been confirmed for the US yet?
The S2000 says it goes like crazy, then this Mugen RR just says it's mental
What year is this from?
It's ok some drivers struggle with rear wheel drive when they're used to front wheel drive but thats why he doesn't host Top Gear©.
having to rev it up to get performance means that its very economical for everyday use
They should do the mugen s2000 vs the mugen civic, i think that'll be more of a fair match
Put some decent rubber,a proper suspension, and tune the engine a little bit and that S2000 will beat the shit out of anything on the racetrack. Well maybe except some 4wd turbo beasts
@Astropolicals no its not, the s2k is the only stock here... the civic is mugen tuned
@jeffbautista the point that... it is a stock civic, just a special addition. you wouldn't way the Mercedes AMG is not stock!!?? right? so just like in this case it is a Civic type RR stock, a fully production vehicle. duh lol
@SpiritLwerewolf he means on sale at the time the video was made...but he only said "on sale" for the mugen...
what's mugen? i wanna know the difference between this and type R
that mugen is pretty friggen sweet, I could say that I'd be genuinly interested if it was at least awd. but aren't they quite expensive.?
You do know that is Jason Plato... BTCC Champion twice. I'm pretty sure he knows how to drive a rwd car..
He said that the mugen RR was the fastest Front wheel drive "On sale" so I'm assuming that he meant the s2k was the fastest Rwd "On sale" Not ever produced
Love Hondas!
@MrSyaoran74 How about the CBR1100?? ;)
i want the them both !
@TheWizzardFromOS it was long time ago )))) they are not making them any longer
True. And other than the prelude, what else is even a competition?
@MrSyaoran74 nsx stopped in 2005, the s2000 was in sale when they made this video
How did they bring it to UK?
It's extremely rare even in Japan.
Singapore itself have 3-6 left there used to be 10 of it one was exported to Brunei. The rest was probably deregistered in storage till reregistration after refurbishments from Japan. currently there are 3 on the roads of Singapore and I recently saw one without a spoiler looking chic. Really loved the car and it’s awesome that in Singapore I always get to see all the rare cars
it has every aspect of an authentic Mugen Si, it's nice.
One of my honda tuning mags has a kswapped s2000. Yeah I agree, the f motor is running near its full potential unlike the k motors
Their like Nismo or AMG., But they manufacture parts you can buy as well.
Yes they do! Someone at my high school has one
What about NSX-R?
What is the name of the song 2:27 min?
true but also in a way, the s2000 is a bit of a type-R, it's just not badged as one. The vtec f20 engine although different to the vtec k20 engine still shares much much similarity. I'm also sure the s2000's handling is set up just as good if not better than any civics. All our euro 'type-R's' suck while s2000's are better.
I love these car !
I know we have a mugen in the U.S, but the same exact mugen as the one in this video? Because the U.S version looks really different.
I like this reviewer, what happened to him?
Isnt the nsx the fastest rwd honda on sale ??
@SpiritLwerewolf On sale at the time.
@ElChimbolulo That would be the Chemical Brothers - Believe
@robert rose, I'm sorry, but get your facts straight. Ayrton senna DID NOT develop the nsx. Ayrton tested it for Honda because they wanted his opinion on the handling
@koalatoday I didnt say it was rice because it was Asian, i said it was rice because of the taillights and dual exhaust. Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements. You can still rice out a performance import car with poor cosmetic upgrades. Just like the car in the video
Yeah your probably right, but there's no doubt he knows how to drive a RWD car, probably alot better than most people.
The Nsx-r in undoubtedly an amazing car. But not everyone can afford one. Atleast the Mugen RR is more realistic. I would also hope a S2000-R would also be more affordable than a super car.
you want to put a 2 liter 4 cylinder against a 3.2 liter V6?
Honda what happened to you? No more Integra, no more NSX, no more S2000, No multilink in the type R? Come one honda get it together. Honda of the 90's and early 00's AWESOME
the only reason he says the "japanese" civic, i think, he wanted to say the JDM Civic, because we do have an EDM version called FN2 that is manufactured in UK, which is a Hatchback and not a sedan like the FD2. ;-)
NSX was a 'Honda' anywhere outside North America. Only, in America and Canada it was sold as an 'Acura' and badged a 'Honda' elsewhere.
His names Jason Plato his a current racing driver
im pretty sure that song was playing the entire time
Both cars are awesome but the S2000 is the better and cheaper choice compared to the RR
why didnt they us the s2000 cr
@ralatorre9 might I add the boss 302 kills things in it's price range but not under it, the 370z I would say is the best bang for the buck it has out gone evo and sti in every class of racing, I to am a car guy I've owned imports, euro's, muscle cars, but I actually road race and drift in the season and I have seen fast mustangs around the track just not on stock suspension parts if it's keeping up with stuff in the enthusiast class. which is all nearly stock cars.
America has the mugen but not the RR model which sucks taht we dont have that..
A sport car doesn't have to look like a brick in the first place...
@freddy4sure its the fastest rwd 4cyl honda on the market
should've put a base civic vs base s2000 or mugen civic vs honda s2000 Type S.
Keiichi Tsuchiya can lap that Civic faster than an NSX around Tsukuba.
@kyleisreallycool
that's true the DC2-R is the fastest FWD ever made
Scusami NeAr1986, nell'euforia avevo alterato lo "Tsumani",senza accorgermene. Ti ringrazio come vedi ho corretto. Saluti
since when did Hammond get a haircut??? :\
@freddy4sure He said fastest currently on sale... Not ever.
really really nice car,2.0l na engine produces 240ps,it just amzing, snow us what real engine should be
If the s2000 had coilovers it would have easily kept up
the mugen rr is the only civic that has dual exhaust and it doesnt look like a ricer lol.. i love hondas
they have the mugen in the us but they dont have the mugen rr
only goes to show you how much potential the s2k has. that it was only 1.9 sec off pace. bone stock
that's driving a tuned car set to his preference. Tiff would have done a better job cuz he feels out the car completely.
I would like to return my 2012 si for a MUGEN pls!!
the civic is a focused track car, course its gonna win, but he had more fun in the s2k
Mclaren manage it with the new MP - rides like a limo, drives like...a Mclaren. Porsche manage it perfectly too - great comfort as an every day car, yet still thrashed most things on a track.
McLarens break down all the time and cost 10 times more than a Honda Type-R/S2000.
the plastic quality he said ..are carbon kevlar mugen seats
Wow... a civic that comes from the factory riced out. Dual exhaust and Euro tail lights. Who thought that would be a good idea???
AQUI DESPUÉS DE VER LA ENTREVISTA DE SHAN2 DESING EN LAUCH CONTROL😅
NSX is acura (i do realize that they're the "same" company)
but due to technicality.. s2k is fastest RWD.
Man they really need to sell that Civic here in the US. The regular SI sucks balls
If they made a s2000 type r. It win, hands down.
who knows the tracklist? :)
Ho una Honda S 2000 del 2008, è un auto a dir poco Fantastica altro ke Civic, la mia Honda è uno "Tsunami" di auto anche + grandi ne travolge.....tante!!!!
9 Years of Difference.
But a Civic 1.6 still exists . You cant put modded vs stock for things to be fair . Fair = Mugen S2000 Vs Mugen Civic .
I hate that america doesn't have the mugen :,(
Tell that to Gordon Shedden after race 3 at Donnigton this year you muppet!
hot hatch sensei? but its a 4 door saloon..
danny perez there known as a hatch being as its named civic.
Its alright if you use JDM in the same sentence.
@BLACKSTEEL26 Riced out? its Mugen, doesnt get more JDM than that buddy...
Lad you should use AP1 s2000 that revs at 9k rpm with jdm stock motor at 250 hp....Then we should see some real challenge....AP2 S2k is good but Honda made it more civilized that the AP1s...First models are more brutal one track and power!
