You should have asked him about the new Baltimore ownership deal. When it all went down he had a podcast discussing how it actually is working with the finances. According to David's podcast, it's not like that there is a flood of money that has come in. Only a percentage has been paid to John A. The sum itself comes after Senior Angelos drops. So, yes Baltimore will be able to spend but the main bulk of cash has not moved. It's quite fascinating and non one, except David has addressed it. So it will be interesting (depending how long Angelos is alive) how much his son will actually spend. The new owners don't have full control, or say yet until John's dad is gone. I might have over simplified. But I highly encourage you to check out the segment he did on it.

I remember the show Tanked or something like that where this aquarium company was building the backstop aquarium tanks at Miami Marlins park and David being totally absorbed in the process building the aquariums and asking how the fish wouldn't get stressed and frightened by foul tips. Running my own reef tanks and saltwater fish only aquariums I was impressed at David's knowledge. He knew that stress could kill some of the fish in those tanks and was genuinely concerned for their welfare.
Samson had a line that went something like, "I don't want to see fish floating on top of the water after every game. I don't care if the fans won't see it, but I will." I never had many kind thoughts toward Samson before, understandable being a Braves fan at the time, but seeing him caring about those fish made me think a little better of him. Jeter trashing those aquariums just because it was from the previous management was petty as heck. Changing the stadium also reduced attendance, David built that stadium to please Miami fans not NYC fans. Next year after the sale attendance dropped from 1.7 million to 600,000. That wasn't just a lousy team, Loria had done that for years, but always managed over a million spectators. Jeter showed he didn't care what the fans liked the fans and they knew it. Miami Marlins fans liked _their_ stadium and Jeter trashed it knowing that.

Reason why MLB doesn't work in Miami is because the stadium is in SW MiamI. No large fan base there. Ft Lauderale and West Palm are where the MLB fans are. A Baseball stadium and ballpark village North and East of Hardrock Stadium will be closer to MLB fans thats 10 miles north of Miami.

So for a little context because I know David conveniently forgets certain things. Loria was his former stepfather and maybe one of the shadiest owners that was ever in baseball. Multiple lawsuits, remember when he bought Hanley a 150K diamond chain for winning the batting title ? the stadium deal..the horrendous Miami rebranding, the whole Stanton deal was done to increase value of the franchise when they knew they were going to sell. David is a very bright guy but he tends to...forget things

Bay Area press has completely distorted Manfred's comments last week, saying he was impatient with the A's search for an interim stadium. They did not include this comment:
“I’m comfortable with where they are in the process [of finding an interim location],” Manfred said. “They have options and you know, I think they’re doing a good job of exploring them and making sure we find the best possible opportunity.”
Then, omitting the above, they took the following statement and falsely interpreted it to mean he was impatient.:
Manfred said a location does need to be known in the next few months.

@@ScottyBraun-FoulTerritory Difficult to know what's in Manfred's head unless he has made specific statements to indicate he was not pleased. What I stated above was omitted and what remained was reinterpreted indicated the lack of some accurate reporting with respect to his views on the interim location. Regarding other aspects, my other comment indicated the insiders are pleased with the process, and there is no reason to believe Manfred is not also ok.

Samson does not have inside information on the A's relocation to Las Vegas. The head of the Stadium Authority said the required documents were underway and would be released in the near future. He further said he sees no upcoming issues. Other insiders, GLPI, Bally's, and MGM have seen the stadium renderings and called them "spectacular". The team is now working with Bally's to finalize integrated hotel/resort/stadium renderings to show the whole picture. Bally's would not close the hotel at this point if they were not confident of the stadium progress. Saying they would eventually close the hotel is irrelevant. They might in 3-5 years if there were no stadium, but they would in no way do so now without a good understanding of the situation.
