The WiiU had NES, SNES, N64, GBA, DS, and Wii virtual console and the switch still doesn’t. Can play all the 3D Zeldas on it, still can’t do it on switch. Far from Nintendo’s biggest failure

Having also made the Xbox One Remember When episode, and trying to wrap my head around Microsoft's choice doing that, you can imagine my surprise revisiting the Wii U and seeing it all over again. So so bizarre.
@@timadel663 BOTW was created for Wii U but Development took so long that Nintendo decided to hold the title for next gen. It was always supposed to be a Wii U release. They started working on the game in 2011 the year the Wii U came out. It was ported to the switch. Graphics aren't different. both 720p.
actually i damn love my wii u, resident evil revelations, mario 3d world, kart 8, zelda ww tp hd remasters, and i love using the gamepad in all these games
Legit when WiiU was announced I thought its just an accessory to the OG Wii and that time I realize it was the shittiest accesory for the console like xbox to kinect months after it was released that I found out it was a new console from nintendo but still its not for me props to WiiU Fans for still hanging to it.
I never got a Wii, so for me the Wii U has been of great value. I loved playing through older Wii games, Nintendo Land with large parties, games such as BotW, Mario Kart, Windwaker HD, as well as some good old SNES titles. I have played on both big screen, and the little handheld. Ive thorougly enjoyed the console, and still bring it out from time to time when I have people over.
I honestly thought the Wii u had potential maybe if it was marketed a little better showing that it's not I add onto the Wii it would work I only got it just so I can play Lego City undercover and legend of Zelda wind waker HD and whatever games came out.

Playing Black Ops 2 whilst the parents watch TV is one of my favourite memories of the console. That and of course the one and only game to be hyped for: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate :D
i wanted the wii u, for many games, but ended not having it, now that ive got a switch, i still want those games, as a kid i grow playing pikmins games the first and the second, AND I STILL DIDNT PLAY PIKMIN 3 !! Its killing me. 😭
There was a hilariously long period of time where you could pirate wii u games by downloading them straight from Nintendo's own content distribution servers.
Of course we didn't. And definitely took it in consideration when looking at the scope of the episode -- there's even a nod to it in the episode. The thing is with that thing, is that it's not really a home console... or even a handheld console. It didn't really merit itself in the mix of mainline systems Nintendo put out like the Wii, Wii U, and Switch. Especially considering just how short lived that thing was.
The Wii U wasn't really a failure per se. It was more of an experimental console gone wrong. It seems more like it was a β for what we ultimately got through the Switch. Now if Nintendo could stop being stubborn and make a Switch Pro (or whatever they want to call it) so they can continue to get third party support. One of the biggest issues with the Wii U... 1. name 2. including the tablet with the console and not selling it separately They should've named it like Wii+ or something like that as it played all Wii games. The tablet should've been sold separately. I've heard of people's tablet breaking, battery issues, etc. Not being able to replace it or get a secondary one was a bad move on top of it incresing the price of the console. It's no surprise that people consider the Wii U as a β to what we got with the Switch. The Wii U not being HD was a bad move too. Basically the Wii U is basically what we got with PS4 and PS4 Pro. That is generous how Iwata apolgized for the Wii U being so-so and taking a salary cut to help the company as a whole. I'm glad that Nintendo got rid of the touch & motio control gimmick starting with the Switch. It was an okay fad at best. It's a nice option to have with consoles, but being the main control is unnecessary and more annoying.

Then Nintendo came with the WiiU and I thought what if the Wii was what the WiiU was back then. heh The WiiU is still a great console in my eyes to this day. Though I love my SWITCH. I was waiting for you to mention the Wii and Wii U drought. Switch is almost in the same situation especially if you don’t care about it’s first party. Haven’t bought a game or played Switch since Pokemon and Smash came out. They still need to make games that don’t just appeal to a certain group(s) of people.

As someone that used the Gamecube and Classic controllers in original Wii games myself, the problem is it’s only for a minority of the Wii’s library. Even some of the games you would expect to support them, actually don’t. And some of the games that do, are still just shovelware lol. It could be talked about more, sure, but ultimately I don’t blame people for forgetting or even not knowing.
I don't regret at all buying a wii u especially since you can play all the Wii games on there with many controller options and for a couple years the Wii U was releasing games that were putting many current "next gen" games to shame. Until 2015 that is lol. It's sad that it didn't sell well at all. But considering that we eventually got the switch, sometimes failure really is the greatest teacher

i love the wii u, i like controller layout for the wii u gamepad and it's pro controller, i used the wii u pro controller on pc games like 1st person shooter and other genres with xinput using a mayflash wii u pro controller adapter or the magic ns or s, it feels great playing with it, better than the ps4 and xbox one controller, also the xbox 360 controller too.

Switch isn’t even that great just a bunch of rereleases, cartridges, and taken away good features from the Wii U era. these joycons stick drift like in a week of play. A problem I’ve only experienced in the 3DS-2DS’s, but never a home console. Nintendo need to get their shit together and make a pro version we can all see worthy of all of their success. Bringing back dual screen, Wii pointer sensor, and enhance it with some 4K graphics and permanent drift stick fix.
How many games does it need? Mario Kart and Smash Brothers are the best/only games people play on it. (Which I appreciate, as first person shooters are mind numbingly crappy.)

I never got a Wii, so for me the Wii U has been of great value. I loved playing through older Wii games, Nintendo Land with large parties, games such as BotW, Mario Kart, Windwaker HD, as well as some good old SNES titles. Switch isn’t even that great just a bunch of rereleases, cartridges, and taken away good features from the Wii U era. these joycons stick drift like in a week of play. A problem I’ve only experienced in the 3DS-2DS’s, but never a home console. Nintendo need to get their shit together and make a pro version we can all see worthy of all of their success. Bringing back dual screen, Wii pointer sensor, and enhance it with some 4K graphics and permanent drift stick fix.

How many games does it need? Mario Kart and Smash Brothers are the best/only games people play on it. (Which I appreciate, as first person shooters are mind numbingly crappy.)
