The thing is, that there are finnish entertainers who had made a wildly successful carreer in states, and they mostly gly under the radar in finland. Take an athlet who gets even slightest success and they get treated like heroes. Artists not so much.
He is just being genuine and real. Being genuine and real is a fun thing in a county where everything is fake , people are all liars, truth doesn't exist etc. You can tell, he is actually surprised that people laugh to what he says here in the US , where as in some other countries he is just saying obvious things!
What he tried to say he makes riskier jokes in Finland than in North America. Pretty smart to start with language and maybe do something different when people learn his delivery.
me too, something is just funny about him, in a good way. Not only as he speaks but facial expressions etc. Also one comment, was like he hit a horse etc. People u wont believe, someone who is a great comedian or actor doesnt equal a great human being in some cases. But yeah sure that poor horse, that hit hurt like hell...please give me a break, u puny human wish u had the bone structure and strength of a horse. That horse felt nothing significant. He hit him, yeah not a good move, but again if im not mistaken we are just fckin humans after all, not perfect by a longshot. So haters gonna hate. Again i like him too.
You can make comics for Finns in the American language. We even understand it. And yes, small talk is also practiced in Finland; you can talk about the weather freely, but don't ever, ever ask a Finn "How are you?"...unless you're ready to listen to family histories and medical reports at the same time. We'll leave "the useless days off"to the stand-up comedians. Ismo is the best. Since I'm Finnish, that comment is facta.
And also have to remember that everythink ever said about Finnish Small talk or lack of it doesn't apply if you are at Savo or Karelian regions aka Eastern Finland. As we easterners are really good at small talk, thought you might not get stright anwser from us sometimes...
It's not just three-letter acronyms, every two-letter combination seems to mean something. Starting from the beginning of the alphabet: AA = Alcoholics Anonymous, AB = Army Brigade, AC = Air Conditioning... No letters seem to mean anything here in Finland.
Yep. People laughs all in the world for fart, sexual minority, akward situation,imitation.... I think Ismo is specialist to think words literally and goes with deep nerd analyze.😁
If you define a person by 1 incident... You are far worse. Everybody does mistakes in their life, if they repeat those mistakes over and over again then you can grasb what kind of person it is. BUT NEVER define from single incident.
Sounds a bit weird... "ONCE he did this..." "that's him in a nutshell" I thought the nutshell thingy was to describe how someone is most of the time, and not one single event on TV? I fell off my bike 40 years ago and hurt myself pretty bad, so I guess "self mutilation" is me in a nutshell by that definition 😁
Ismo needs a Netflix special!!
I agree
Instead they give it to shit comedians like amy schumer.
Yes he does!!

Absolutely!!
As a finn Im kind of proud of Ismo! He’s real funny!
Kind of? I'm extremely proud.

My favorite comedian! Really nice interview; great questions, respectful listeners! Thanks!

Ismo is universal! His jokes are absolutely universal and totally funniest ever!
Ismo is a comedian genious
He is the Finnish George Carlin. The US is so disconnected to reality that if you're real and genuine, you become a natural comedian.
Everybody in FINLAND talk English we start learning in school when we are like 10y old.
I hope he gets a chance to be in a movie.
How negative comments are here but I like him, his funny. Keep doing what you do Ismo 👍🏻😄❤️

Ismo is so relaxed and genuine while these two hosts just seems so damn fake with their reactions and all...
Very good questions.
Love his laugh!
I want him in the star wars universe

In Finland we also say that small talk is like mincing shit ("paskan jauhaminen" in Finnish), so it is as pointless as chewing shit in your mouth. 😅
"Mitä kuuluu" ei mitää
Finnish small talk: "Moi". After that everything is real talk 😎
And also have to remember that everythink ever said about Finnish Small talk or lack of it doesn't apply if you are at Savo or Karelian regions aka Eastern Finland. As we easterners are really good at small talk, thought you might not get stright anwser from us sometimes...
Well it depends. :D
I’m from North-Savoy (Varkaus-Kuopio), and don’t do the ”small talk”. 😃
He's a genius.
Ismo is always the best!

Hi ISMO. I don’t know if you will ever see this message. I think you are a comic genius. Thanks for all that. NATO, how about it?
thats a genuinely funny guy
Ralof, is that you?
"What like inspired you to do that maybe?"
Maybe Ismo can teach this guy English.
why not hot a little outtake in such a show to actually show what his comedy is about...... best from switzerland
Love his humour. Pity he’s picked up the ‘Like’ affliction

It is sad to see that here in the US, real and genuine people are comedians , where as clowns and professional liars are Politicians .
Ismo hei. Harjaa hiukses ennen TV-lähetystä :D
I think he's a comedian, not a hair model, right?
@@SaltpeterexitwounD I know. It was not meant as a toxic comment.

As a Finn I love and hate how awkward he is.
Kumman pään hiukset
When you become a comedian by stating real and genuine things , it is scary!
😎👍🏻💕
When the 'foreign' comedian speaks better English than the American 'interviewers'...
dude has a higher voice than the woman
Ismo needs to be on Rogan..
I have pooped 7 times already today
Damn dude, you should eat more fiber or something.
Good
Dont say “like” all the time! For Gods sake🙄😖
I bet he’s gone back to Finland!
omg his hair needs.. some help xD

Once in a reality show he hit a horse in the face with a fist because the horse wasn't doing what he wanted. There's this guy in a nutshell.

Reality shows are known to be unscripted and honest. No added drama whatsoever
Creating small talk is for simpletons and ppl who are insecure. This is scientifically proven.
I am from Sweden and I love my Finn brothers.
I like making the comparison that the Japanese people are Asias finns
Is the lack of this why we are so happy?
