    Looked through regular web sites before popping onto RUclips. Cripes - should have STARTED here :)
    We just had our stove's convection fan die hardly two weeks after our washing machine died. We figured out how to fix that from someone's RUclips video. I was shocked at how simple washing machines look when you take the covers off, and that's the same for ovens.
    Nice video of the repair - that looks pretty straightforward. Love the tat, too :)
    We'll post our success or failure in a while :)

    Hi
    I have just seen your video on thermostats and came to this!
    I have a Lamona 4401 oven. It gives some heat, and the oven light isn't turning on / and the fan isn't working (I'm assuming as it doesn't make a noise as it does when its on).
    I assumed it could be the thermostat, but now not sure if its the motor, or just the fan blade! I'm stuck! :-) Any help or guidance would be mostly appreciated. Thank you!!

    Great video but sometimes a fan could be stuck with a bit of dirt. Mine wasn't spinning for a month. I turned it on and used a bread knife to help it turn . Been spinning since. Might just be stuck with grease etc

      @@eSpares tbf. It did work for a few days then started making a grinding noise like it did before it broke. Assuming the baring have gone as its dropped a couple of mm leaving particles of metal in the fan housing (not good for cooking 😲) so its stripped awaiting the motor. Always get the parts number and shop around as i saved half the price instead of going with the maker

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  5 лет назад

      Hi whatyeonaboot, finding the reason for the oven tripping can be difficult without the correct meter, check the connections and test the components.

    I just changed the heating element and motor on my Indesit oven (BIMDS23IXS). For my oven, the screws holding the fan motor in place are on the inside of the oven. You need to remove the bottom one and just loosen the other two. Going back to the motor, you can now lift it up to remove. Hopefully this might help someone facing the puzzle I was faced with.
    Also, when I replaced the cover over the fan and element and tested the oven, the fan made an unearthly noise, as it was hitting off the cover. I had to bend the cover slightly, and it worked perfectly after that.

    But how do you stop the motor spinning while you undo the nut?

  • @chasethemau5

    My fan motor replacement had the wire connections in different places so I don't know what colour wire to go on what connection lol

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 лет назад +4

      The motor will only run in one direction so as long as you don't mix up the earth connection (if fitted) it will not matter about the other two.

  • @hannahrentonmusic
    @hannahrentonmusic 8 лет назад

    does it matter what wire connections go to the two different options on the motor?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 лет назад +1

      +Hannah Renton The motor will only turn in one direction as long as you connect one wire to each connection it will be OK.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 лет назад

      +mick florence We did not recognise your model as it should have ADP or HJA before a number. If it has a electric oven it is likely to be the element tat has failed. For information on confirming the problem see another video:

    Hi there fantastic video. My fan slowly moves, and if I give it a flick the shut the door again, and it slowly pics up speed. Do I need a new motor or is it in need of a clean. ( I'm sure it's hard to answer without seeing it).

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 лет назад +1

      Very common sign of worn bearings on the fan that tend to loosen as the fan warms up. The problem is likely to get worse and may cause the element to overheat and fail so we suggest replacing the fan as soon as possible.

    I have an old faberware t4850 convection broiler oven. It runs fine for about 3-5 minutes then it slowly starts to wind down, then stops. Any Idea what causes that?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 лет назад

      If it is the fan that slows it is likely the motor bearings are binding so check the fan and replace if required.

    • @eSpares

      Hi Alireza, it sounds like the fan motor bearing could be causing the issue, take off the fan and turn the motor and if it does not turn freely it will need to be replaced.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Watz, a noise like that would only come from the cooling fan at the top or most likely the oven fan, check the fan and fan motor for signs of wear so take the fan off to inspect and then check the fan motor.

    Hi, our fan is blowing out cold air instead of hot. Do you think I need to change the fan?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  8 лет назад

      +Nasira Patel Hi, Thanks for your comment. Its highly likely that the element has gone on your oven and you require a new fan oven element. elements can be purchased on www.espares.co.uk/search/pt1595/cookers-and-hobs/elements

    • @feboober
      @feboober 7 лет назад

      If it it blowing cold air out of the front that's the cooling fan. Your oven has two fans. You need to look inside the oven at the very back. If that fan isn't turning it needs replacing. If the oven is not heating at all, the element needs replacing

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  4 года назад

      Hi, richardo1986, the first thing to check is the oven element as that is the most likely, did it stop heating and the light stop working at the same time?

    heya, my fan seems to be moving to fast ? and making a louder sound than usual ? whats up with that.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  6 лет назад +1

      It is likely the fan motor bearings are worn and the fan will start to fail. This can cause the element to overheat as well so if the motor is getting noisy it may be cheaper to replace now rather than later.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Sally, if the noise is when the oven is switched on then check the fan is not catching or loose if that is ok then check the fan motor as it may be the bearings that are causing the noise.

      Hi Michael, if you have replaced the fan motor did you test it first with a meter? you will need to test the circuit to find out what has failed, what have you checked.

    What if the fan isn't spinning, and the element (working) isn't heating, the oven light isn't coming on, nor the temp light. All the rest of the cooker is working fine, that is, only the fan oven is affected.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  6 лет назад

      Check the clock is set correctly if fitted. Then check the thermal cut out as shown in this video: ruclips.net/video/7xL3LsIMZPg/видео.html

      Blimey that was a quick reply.
      The clock was set fine, and I just found your other thermal cut out vid and that seemed fine. Was wondering if it could be the actual control switch?
      Thanks for your quick reply.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  6 лет назад

      Did you watch the diagnosis video?. The problem could be the terminal block: ruclips.net/video/YvQEDG-hNz4/видео.html
      or the control switch. If there is a switch problem you should find burning of the contacts.

    • @zaftra
      @zaftra 6 лет назад

      Yes I looked at that first, I can recheck. Tried to check the oven thermostat, it seems to run from the oven to the back of the control knob via a very thin wire. Everything else seems fine. it's a double oven, the conventional oven works fine, so does the clock and the gas igniters; the only think affected is all power to the fan oven.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  6 лет назад

      Check the 'relay' in the clock shows continuity when there is no power to the cooker. When powered up and not set the relay is opened to cut power.

    sorry but you say the fan stopped is faulty.
    ours was humming and slowing and speeding up. the bearing was shot.
    so there's more problems than just a stopped fan. very misleading.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 лет назад +3

      Sorry you felt the video was 'misleading', we do try to give as clear and simple advice as possible but there can always be 'another case' that may be different to the information given. We hope the majority of viewers are able to pick up the 'basic' information and use this to help when doing a repair.

    • @MrWolfSnack
      @MrWolfSnack 4 года назад

      If the fan is stopped or sounds like metal scraping or a buzzsaw then yes it is faulty either way. The maker of this video was not implying the fan has to specifically be stopped. The fan will stop working if you leave this problem.
