Not to forget for years Zacherle was a rock DJ on WPLJ-FM in New York (70s) & later some other radio stations (K-Rock & CBS-FM). He even introduced The Grateful Dead at the opening of the Fillmore East. The man & his voice are baby-boomer gold. I'll never forget him (and I met him several times outside work or in an elevator at ABC). RIP John.
He was the Cool Ghoul all the way up to the end, he was THE TV horror host. I only met him once, but he treated me like an old friend and he had his arm around me all the time he spoke to me, I felt like he was my favorite uncle! I'll be forever sad that it was only once that I met him, but I know he's out there with Boris, Bela, and all his old monster buddies, doing some crazy experiment in his lab and trying to win Morticia or Lily's heart when he's not having Dinner With Drac. :-) Goodbye for now, Zach, we love and miss you and we'll see you again!
I love Zach. I loved his laugh. He laughed like crazy so much and that was so cool. Zacherely - The Cool Ghoul! He was in a class by himself! I bought his Monster Mash album in 1966 for 99¢ @ a supermarket. Best buck I ever spent!
A wonderful "find" for me. Zach was a cult favorite and my friends and I just loved being part of the viewing audience. I finally met Zach in NYC in the basement of a book store where perhaps 75 others had "heard the call" and showed up. Marvolus.
He's the best and on this video at 94, he sounds the same to me...watched his cartoon show on WPIX...he was far better than the cartoons, Chiller Theater and the Disc O Teen UHF program.
John Zacherle died on October 28th, 2016 at the age of 98.
R.I.P., and thanks for all the entertainment you gave for generations.

I loved watching Zacherley when I was a kid, and I STILL think he is the King of Horror!
God bless his soul. Great show. I remember it like it was yesterday in the 60’s ❤️🌹

I got such a kick out of John Zacherle as a kid back in 1958 on his "Shock Theater"... There was nothing like him either before or after...
God bless you man. You got me through quite a few uncomfortable New Years eves. Parents would watch Lawrence Welk lol. Love you man

My best friend & I saw him at a movie theatre I Penn. around 1958 or 59. What a great guy and wonderful entertainer!
I met him at Mama Leoni’s restaurant in NYC in 1965. I was about 9 years old.
I do miss his shows on friday nights.
It's like seeing an old friend. As kids we spent countless hours in the company of that man. Good, clean fun.
Thanks for this trip down memory lane, Great to see Mr. Z on youtube.
Can anyone tell me where the clip from 0:11 is from?
It came from the compilation VHS tape "Horrible Horrors" which is here on RUclips: ruclips.net/video/vUJjCR8eaOo/видео.html
