What a wonderful performance by Bobby "Boris" Pickett! So very sad that this was his last Halloween performing this Halloween anthem. Thank you Bobby for this fantastic song and performance. May you rest in peace.

He must have performed this so many times that the words were completely cemented & ingrained into his brain. Always a pleasure to hear him. I was not around in 1962, but this song is so wonderful, it's permanently etched into my memory
As a musician myself, I’m sure that even if he knew that he was in his final months, all his ailments went away for this performance. It probably kept a smile on his face for the remainder of his life.
I'm into 2021 and this song still strong with fans all over the world..a legend of a singer and a legend ofca song..awesome. as ever and heard all over the world today..great singer and band on stage..thank you..phenomenal
Man, we played this song tonight for a Halloween party. I got home at 2:45am and still wound up from the job. I turn on RUclips and here he is playing this song. When your playing the guitar and singing it’s hard to do the Boris Karloff moves. R.I.P. sir and Thankyou for the song and performance.
I agree. He knocked this rendition out of the park. At first I didnt like the other older guy being there but after watching a few I times I changed my mind. He gave a good introduction, was entertaining during the song and came across as a fan himself
I had the joy and privilege of dancing as a backup ghoul girl at SpookyWorld in Berlin, Massachusetts with Mr. Pickett as he performed this classic. It was one of the most fun and memorable experiences of my entire life. Thank you so much - it’s never Halloween until I hear this song! ❤
I remember John Zacherly from the 60's. He was a phone buddy. My friend was a monster enthusiast and somehow he contacted Zacherly. I had an autographed photo. And, Bobby Pickett, his Monster Mash record was a big hit for me. Fun times!
One man with 1 destiny, to sing the song every year to the delight of tens of millions until the day he died. And since he is gone we come here every To play this song in tribute to our own youth to our own innocence and to the great gift he gave us. Monster mash for ever my friends
I was there... In the audience... I went to that convention every time they had, twice a year... Near NYC in Jersey. Loved the people .. and this was one of my fav memories
@jeffreywright4695 We all loved Bobby here in the uk. So to suggest that he was banned here in England is complete bs. We love his Monster Mash every Haloween. God Bless you Bobby, so very missed with nobody to ever take your place. RIP fella, we still love you, despite what a few Americans and Limeys think otherwise. 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Pickett still has that beat and body movement to the songs of that era. He would have made a wonderful late night, week end tv fright movie host OR cartoon voices, OR guest spots/rolls in the monster movies that were modernized in the 60s and on. Thanks Bobby for being a part of all our fun nights of dancing and camaraderie at neighborhood dance parties/get togethers... as we played your song.... ps/only one way to dance this...mash potatoes with spins and splits, NM usa babyboomer
Bobby Pickett 1938-2007. I predict one hundred years from now Monster Mash will still be a big hit on Halloween. After all it's been 60 years and still going strong! 🎃
An "instant" classic ... since 1964!!!! GREAT live version on Dick Cavett's American Bandstand .... Check it out! Elvis hated this ... but time tells all, n'est ce pas??!
I guess for those of us of a certain age Our Fate is to come here every year and reach out to each other in sadness but enjoy the song and realize that we're arching closer and closer toward the same fate as Bobby and as Zacherly. But despite the inevitable Decline and sadness that we all face as we March toward that final fate, I promise to come here every year and listen to the song and dance and like I did when I was 6 years old until my final breath is passed. "Now everything is cool, Drac's is a part of the band....."
😖 Tony Robbins said his race car teacher had to practically snap his neck to teach him not to stare at the wall ! OH ITS INEVITABLE IM HITTING THE WALL TOO LATE TO TURN >*CRACK*< got his eyes on the road.....he didn't crash well what do you know ! 😀 keep thinking like that guarantee a early grave ! Turn from the wall you be surprised what you're capable of ! Cemeteries are my favorite atmosphere, hang, I love the eerie I celebrate Halloween all year round but it doesn't represent death I will not stare at the wall
I read about his death on the internet. What I remember most about it was when it said that Bobby Pickett had once remarked that his song, "The Monster Mash," had become something of a Halloween tradition, and even suggested that it could be the equivalent of Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" being heard every year at Christmastime.
In the grand scheme of things, not at all. He was primarily a comedian and actor. So to many he was still known aside from this song. Most one hit wonders nobody ever hears from again lol
this is the Last time that he Perform his Signature Song the Monster Mash for Halloween in oct 2006 before he died of Leukemia on Apr 25 2007 at the young age of 69 he left us way too soon
So cool to see this sung by the man! Thanks for posting!! Fave song as a kid by far! Dont' think anyone cared but the band played it slightly wrong. The verses are G - E - A - D then the chorus is G - E - C - D and the band played the chorus notes (with the C) the whole way through. That subtle change was one of his trademark hooks! Thanks again!

Banned in England? Certainly wasn't here in Australia. Listened to this fun song as a small child. Can't help than putting a huge smile on your face. Thanks for the memories Boris Pickett
@@debbieanne7962 Possibly ghoulishness, they had banned ‘Leader of the pack’ and ‘Ebony eyes’ because they were about death. The BBC also banned songs like ‘Je t’aime’ because they were overtly sexual, in the 60s and 70s. Different times.
What a wonderful performance by Bobby "Boris" Pickett! So very sad that this was his last Halloween performing this Halloween anthem. Thank you Bobby for this fantastic song and performance. May you rest in peace.

I could listen to this song a thousand times, and probably have over the years 🤔, and still love it just as much as the time before.
This video is priceless since it was his last Halloween performance. Classic!
Halloween just isn't Halloween until I hear this song 💀 🎃☠️
I hope he got to ask Elvis if he still thinks this is the dumbest thing he`s ever heard?
Talk about a perfect performance this was amazing he can totally sing live beautifully done 💕

He looked mature back in the 60s. He aged well. Singing this made him younger I'm sure. Glad I could see this 40 years later. Be at Peace

RIP, Messrs. Pickett and Zacherley. The two greatest (and, yet strangely, still most underrated) pioneers of campy horror in modern history.

I needed this. The world is a better place now. Thank you!
What a classic! I'll never forget it, having heard it during my stay in the UK back in the 70s.
I used to watch Zacherley in his crazy "cheesy movies" way back in the Sixties. It was great.
An instant classic video.......
Undeniably. But, that killer cowgirl to Mr. Pickett's left. Is she supposed to be Sheryl Moon Zombie (Rob's wife)?

I love how (Jon) Zacherle is just enthralled on the sidelines of Boris; while he himself is the great Zacherle ...

Nice to see they were able to dig up Peter Boyle to play the drums.
What an underrated joke right here

Aunque fue solo un éxito en su carrera de cantante esta canción es inmortal y por eso se hizo leyenda en todo el mundo❤
