Oh yeah he's from the next county over from where I'm from in Eastern Kentucky! Love Sturgill over here, so glad to see you react to him!!! Please do more of his songs. Long White Line is great!
Sebs this was a great message and reaction. I know I have been an a## my friend. I will not throw out all the cruches I could use to make my impatience seem warranted. So I will just say Thank you for all you do for everyone and myself!!! Mental Health Awareness is real and Conversation (even when hard) is key!!! Much love
Turtles all the way down is part of the Hopi (Native American) creation story. The world is carried on the back of a turtle that is carried on the back of another turtle and there's turtle's all the way down. Sturgil heard a Native woman talking about the turtles that carry the world and it stuck with him.
Tim McGraw has a song with a very important message. It's called Humble and Kind. Also there's a A capella group that will blow you away. Their name is Home Free. They have a lot of videos. Some are covers and some are original. Man of constant sorrow, Listen to the music, End of the road, Understand. Just a few of them
Look this up....he had intended to only make 5 albums...and those albums are connected. You should look up the story of why, and what each album means. Based on what you said about learning the different meanings of religion and such, you WILL find it to be quite a story!
To say Sturgill Simpson is just "country" is like saying Jim Morrison was just "rock & roll". (He wasn't invited/nominated to CMA's so he streamed while he was busking outside Bridgestone Arena.) Sturgill's music is a continuum you caught somewhere near the middle. Back up to his days with "Sunday Valley" band, shit kickin' "outlaw country". Down the road, be sure to include the "Call To Arms" video from SNL. THE greatest musical performance on that show. period.
Dang. I was thinking I'd make a donation to get you to listen to Sturgill - but you already have. I earnestly wish you to listen to his albums in full - each album is thoughtfully laid out on purpose. Sturgill is truly a throwback to the 60s - an artist that follows his own path, not giving in to commercialism or Spotify. I wish Joe Rogan had talked to Sturgill about HIM, not Tool. I'd like to know more about the personal journey he has taken to make music his own way.
Hi. :) I have for you two great recommendations from symphonic metal, first is band Liv Moon and their newest song "Never...", and second band is 摩天楼オペラ (Matenrou Opera) and song "真っ白な闇がすべてを塗り替えても" (Masshiro na Yami ga Subete wo Nurikaete mo), both bands are amazing and I know you will love them. ;) Please, don't be negative because of japanese language.
This album and the following album Sound & Fury are amazing. There are a lot of country artists delving into more psychedelic country indie folk sounds. Shakey Graves, Nathaniel Rateliff, Ray LaMontagne and a bunch of others. Good rabbit hole to dive into.
Alright so the turtles are from the Bhagavad Gita where the belief that the earth is carried on the back of a giant space turtle made of pure light, he writes the song to say live as you should and fuck it turtles all the way down cause nobody really knows but the central tenants are all there… this song goes deep
A lecturer spoke about the earth being round. A woman in the audience stood up and disagreed. She said the earth was flat and rested on the back of a giant turtle. The lecturer asked what the turtle was standing on and the woman said, "it's turtles all the way down." Very old joke, no philosophical value at all, but I loved this song, and I don't like country music either. I love your reactions.
Most modern country is formulaic and mentions those key items without much real thought, it is generic and then there bro-country which is worse. One must search but authentic country artists do exist.
What Sturgill really seems to be saying is all of those religions are bs and you should believe whatever you want to believe. He is saying it gets you nowhere. Turtles all the way down is an expression you use when you want to call something ridiculous, ludacris or asinine. Like when someone says "nothing created everything", I say that theory is turtles all the way down.
Everything Sturgill does is amazing. Please react to more of his songs.

You should also check out his song "You Can Have the Crown." I think you'll enjoy the lyrics. It's pretty awesome 😎
See not all country is ridiculous.
Sturgill helped revolutionize the new outlaw country genre.
Keep up the great reactions. ¡Aprender y crecer!
I remember reading an article about him spending time on Merle's ranch to write.

His SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE performance is one of the best ever on the show.
Dood and Juanita is a great album but you have to listen to it in ORDER. It tells a story. It’s amazing
The actual music video to this song is incredible

I love Sturgil he’s amazing!!! Super smart guy! His album cuttin grass is also really good
Gorgeous song. Amazing lyrics.
Sturgill is from my hometown. A town with about 2000 people
Stirgil has some amazing music! He is a great showman as well! He performs great!
You need to check out some Jason Isbell. Great song writer.
I feel Sturgill is a young Waylon Jenning

I was hoping you’d research turtles all the way down.
Give “Where the corn doesn’t grow” by Waylon Jennings a try.
Waylon is awesome but i also loved Travis Tritt's version.
Whooosh!

I would love to know what you were doing/what was happening when you had psychedelic experiences without any substance?

If you liked this. You should check out Universal Sound by Tyler Childers
listen to all yourn - tyler childers
I challenge you to do a reaction to Elvie Shane - my boy without shedding a tear very beautiful song.
All religions are real and not real at the same time
Dude, Joe Rogan is Awesome & very intelligent!! He's also high up in jitsu or whatever it is! lol But he's a bada$$ all the way around!!
Amazing song, even if his theology is wrong I get what he is saying
