I've been watching Season 2 lately. It's okay but really cheesy. I like checking out the items that they are selling but I recently saw they are auctioning off a NWC Gold so I checked it out on their site. That's when I discovered that they charge the buyers a premium as well. That's just pure greed and disgusting.
Show is epic 🔥🔥 and that game collection is insane
Sometimes I wish this scene had stayed small. Big money ruins a lot of things - and the amount of predatory scheme around what are essentially toys and collectible tchotchke is rather frustrating to see. Too much "historical" importance is put on things that mean nothing in the end to most these folks who just want an angle to disrupt a market to make big money fast.
Totally agree. I want to be surrounded by retro stuff from my childhood now that I can buy it, but instead a reselling market has wrongfully inflated everything :( I remember 15 years ago seeing Chrono Trigger complete in box for $100, now I see that go for like $500+. It's crazy! I don't want these things to be sitting on a fortune like a dragon, I want these things to remind me of when I was a kid with no responsibilities and being able to pop that game in and play for a while and forget how crap the world is.
Also, it was brought to my attention that a Nintendo World Championships Gold NES cart is going up for auction on Goldin on Monday, July 22nd. However, this cart does not have the label. It will be interesting to see what happens, as I am not aware of a public NWC Gold sale happening in a decade. goldin.co/item/1990-nes-nintendo-gold-world-championships-missing-cartridge-usa-cartrwlodh
It's a 4.0, rare and starts at $10K ... It's going to get bid up ASAP 😅🤑
Crazy that the label would probably at like 50k to the value if not more.. Hope it goes for over 500k!!

It’s wild that Ian at the start of the podcast looked like he just turned 18 and now he has damn near a Santa Claus beard 😭
That "$35,000" PC-10 arcade is ridiculous. Honestly the double monitor is probably the most common version. If it had the right 10 games included, it could be worth $3500. I've got the rarest form of the arcade game, a PC10 countertop and can't even get $1500 for it right now.
Willing to ship?
I always wanted the countertop Playchoice!
I have a quick question. Will you do a tour of your collection? I know you've done one before but I don't recall if you have at your current place. Thanks pat
☝️💪🙌
I miss flea market madness
Pat and Ian you guys need to look up 'Sports Card Radio', they've exposed Ken goldin in the past and other sports card "influencers", most notably Geoff Wilson and have also caught on grading companies favoring them over regular customers, very similar to what is going on with Wata games.
Goldin was the card huckster on Shop At Home with Don West. He shilled Pokemon cards to baseball cards.
OH MY GAWD. IT'S A MY-CALL JORDANNN ROOKIE CARD. AUTOGRAPHED. THESE ARE LIMITED (DEE DEE DEE DEE). I CANNOT GUARANTEE HOW LONG THESE WILL BE IN STOCK. BUY NOW. I CANNOT BELIEVE I'M SELLING THIS AT SUCH A LOW PRICE.
I heard Pat mention Goldin's name and I mentioned the guy's past on the baseball cards' forum. Goldin reputation in the sports' collectable market is mixed.
@juicyfruit6311 didn't he do QVC or HSN?
I wish I could have bought a stadium events box from Woolworths (Lowell, MA). It was only $15 on clearance. I came back later that week and they were all gone.
It happens to all of us. Maybe not a Stadium Events box, but still I've passed on games I knew were rare but didn't want to pay "too much" at a flea market, costing me lots of future worth of the game. I've left games that I thought were obscure but couldn't remember, look it up later and see it go for $300+, so many times I've done stupid stuff out and about.
What year did u see the SE box? At least in the future, you'll be more likely to get something you see in person that you probably never will again thanks to that situation.
I visited that store regularly waiting for my bus downtown. There is no way in my mind that 5 people bought those boxed Stadium events. They must of been removed from the shelf for a different reason. I heard rumors that some people think these stories about Woolworths are fake. Nope, that story is 100 real.
Stadium Events was not exclusive to Woolworth’s. They’ve been found all over the US with various store price stickers.
@@PatTheNESpunk Oh ok, maybe there is another rumor that it was exclusive to Woolworths? ldk. I know that the store didn't sell anything from that toy section, but those 5 boxes disappeared in less than a week. I always wondered what happened to have them pulled from the shelf. Unless someone bought all 5.
The valuations in these shows are so dumb. It's basically Neflix making a fancy ad.
Ya, that was messed up with the card. If I went someplace for an appraisal and they acted that way I would walk out, though with the show, he was likely stuck there and had to at least listen to the nonsense.
... didn't I see Pat on Pawn Stars trying to sell his Nintendo World Champions Carts?
You saw Pat on Pawn Stars getting publicity. He’s talked about the experience before.
@80s_Kid_and_Collectibles honestly I couldn't remember. It was on in the background, and I remember thinking I should watch that episode of AVGN.
The PSA 9 Honus Wagner was the one owned by Wayne Gretzky, was subsequently revealed to be trimmed … ESPN did. 30-for-30 short about it … it was right when Wayne Gretzky went to the LA Kings, and he bought the card with the Kings’ owner Bruce McNall. It was the first 7-figure card sale and is PSA’s first card ever graded.
I been to that collector dudes store and they used to have a stand at a flea market, mostly eBay or higher prices. Didn’t know there was a Gold cart sleeping that close to me in PA haha
Now it's time to correct you fellas. Honus Wagner didn't give a shit about kids or tobacco, it had something to do with a pay dispute. It's a myth
holy shit that Robert Stack caught me off guard! well done lol
I managed to watch about 5 minutes of episode one before I turned it off.
30 seconds for me.
I didn't actually make it to an episode. When I felt my skin crawling whilst trying to watch the trailer, I had to give it a hard "nope".
11:30 - I started typing about the 10,000 game minimum. You answered it before I could finish. Fantastic job!!!!
Carry $10-million and get pulled over with a broken brake light … that money can be seized for being “that much” money and he’d have to sue to get it back …
I’d be shocked if it was even real money and not just “tv” money
You two guys always make me chuckle and brighten up my day. thanks for being on RUclips.
I have definitely watched this show - nearly every episode. It’s very cringe and oozes of sleaze. It’s cool to see the rare stuff, but that’s about it for the merits.
I didn't see the show but now I'm motivated to watch it
wait! He's claiming it's "5 screws" and yet it "sealed." Okay, I get it, that they believe it's from this manifactuing, but there's no proof unless you open it, and it's ALREADY SLABBED! Like this is so bad, they are just throwing terms out there just to get people overwhelmed to go, "well, it's got the screws, so it's special, right?"
The grading company had a scanner that can pick up how many metal screws are in the cartridge even when it is sealed fool 🤣
@@ericnaiermandds It shady, but it's so poorly done
@@crithon so make a better show or don’t watch it 🫡
@@ericnaiermandds It's too late for that, the bar has been lowered for a long time. And now it's more obvious then it was maybe 40 years ago.
Was is "sealed" or "complete in box"? I thought they said CIB, but I could be mistaken.
Double screen PC-10 just went up in Indiana for $1700.
Will you guys be at PRGE this year?
The show is a free ad for the auction company 🙄🤑
It's almost certainly a paid advertisement for the auction company
If that makes you sleep better at night? Lol
That's an awfully cynical and, frankly, stupid way of thinking about it. But merely discussing, and in a very negative way, the company does not make it an advertisement. No one is going to use an advertiser that shits all over the product, in this case the advertiser is Pat and the product the show....Would you buy something if you turned on the TV and saw a commercial saying things like, "it's fucking bullshit," and, "It's shady and scummy,"?
The auction company is huge. They do multi million dollar deals they dont need to advertise threw a podcast
@@joshnewman6667 not this show 🙄 ...the Netflix one...
Watching your videos I learn something new all of the time.😌 ☺️ 🤗 🙂 😮
Pretty sure this guy is one of the guys that owns Just Press Play; they have 5-6 local stores here in York, Lancaster, Kennett Square, etc. They were using it in the promo emails. They are closing one or two stores and consolidating into a mega store by the Walmart off of Lincoln highway.
Idk that he needs the money; people are always in their stores.
Excellent episode!! Watched the King Of Collectibles and lmao when they carried in two big duffel bags and only break out two stacks of money for the 1910 baseball card.
You guys are looking at it wrong. He isn't claiming to be the King of Collectors, he's the King of Collectibles...he goes for the best of the best to make the most he can. Now, I agree with you, he's a scumbag if ever there was one, but I see the worldplay he used.
Mr Goldin: “I know the people who will buy this card.”
The Card Owner: “Yeah, I have lunch with them. I know them by their first names.”
Ian… the persuading was all an act lol. They negotiated a deal to consign those games before that segment was ever filmed.
Funny how you forgot to include the buyers premium in the Mario hangtab sale😂😂 the correct sale price was $235k
Why would you include the commission fee for the auction house in the total value. That's dumb
@@Krushak8888 because that’s the amount the next buyer was willing to pay for said item. In the real world we call that a “comp” 🤣
@ericnaiermandds but it didn't sell for 235k lol so why would anyone think that lol
How many hundreds of thousands of dollars in the hole are you?
Mike Tyson was on one episode with the trunks he wore on the cover of Mike Tyson's Punch Out. I looked at their auction site and they sold for around $35,000.
I may have Mark III in my name, Pat, but I'm not your enemy, I'm your friend. And I'm about to give you some advice on how you can not just make hundreds of thousands of dollars easily, but ethically as well.
Nintendo released a new NWC game this year. It may have been out for a bit, but think about this- it still isn't Q4 yet. People have not gone on an online spending spree to buy the latest Switch games for themselves or their family members. When they do in a few months, some of them will probably be searching for "Nintendo World Championships" and not any other words beyond that. I can't think of a more perfect time to put both your grey and gold NWC carts on sale (and for extra money, signed by you and possibly Ian as well) and rake in some fat cheddar stacks, easily and ethically, and at an opportune time, while still getting to keep your repro, which is the only one you'll allow yourself to play anyway. Just part with two old cartridges, and you will get to do pretty much whatever you please with that money. Go on any vacation, raise kids while having work be mostly optional, even just buy whatever other retro library you've been meaning to get into and have all the time you need to play it. I suggest you think about this, the demand might not be this high for a while, and Nintendo might not make another NWC game... or they could even do what Capcom recently did with Mega Man 2 and decide to make more limtied-edition original NWC NES cartridges not so limited anymore!
you guys rock!!
That aint even the half of it. They recently talked about MetaZoo in an episode and tried to say a signed piece of art was 25000 dollars. Meanwhile MetaZoo is completely dead and filed for bankruptcy months ago. And the price of things since that show aired has spiked back out from people buying not knowing its dead. They literally were telling people it would compete with Magic and Pokemon. Which people thought was the case back in 2021 but not when this was filmed at the end of last year when it was all tanking and definitely not now. Disgusting joke of a show
Do 5 screws always contain the fami converter? The 5 screw equivalent in mtg sounds like the hairy rune sword from the dark or the alternate mana symbols from Arabian nights
Crazy how in just a couple years a long-term collectable market can become nothing but gambling, scamming, and flipping. I don't see it ever going back now.
About time the men updated to stretchy jeans lol
I didn’t mind that show, tbh. I collect sports cards and found it a bit interesting.
Why is Ian suddenly wearing a wig 😂
To be fair, the negative impact of Tabasco on the lungs wasn't really understood until the 1960s in regards to cancer. Chances are he opposed them due to religious and/or moral reasons.
Bills with certain serial numbers can be worth big money, just saying
Which episode was it?
I also want to know!
@@SteveLord i think season 2 episode 2-6 i cant remember which exactly
Was that the exacto knife wagner
Are there non 5 screw stadium events? This is the first ive heard about this!
I am not going to doubt you on many of the prices because they are outrageous. However, to think that a 5 screw and a 3 screw variant, of one of the rarest games on the system wouldn’t be worth more is simply wrong.
The people bidding on it disagreed.
Should be, "King of Selling YOUR Collectibles"
Wow $35,000 for a duel monitor play choice 10? Lmao. I have a bar top play choice 10 I paid $1600, I also own a duel monitor Punch Out I only paid a $1000 for that one. Out of their minds.
A sealed stack of cash is the kind of thing you'd expect to see in a parody making fun of these people and yet here they are doing it themselves...
Don't you own a gold cart? Of course 400k is a reasonable estimate. Lol
So factual
Man. When did they get fat?
You two have put some timber on haven't you?
i only sell my NES games to people that can beat me at that game💪🏼
Great episode! Made me a smarter man :)
God bless you guys.
Does the cart have a number on it? Or was the grey have the numbers
I believe that it was only the grey ones were numbered.
@@Rando1975Ah, I couldn't remember, thank you.
They inflate the value on the tv show Collector’s Call too.
Stretch jeans are an abomination.
wrong they are awesome
Great coverage. I like variants, but I know they aren't for everyone. I do get tired of hearing about how you think your NWC is worth half a million when i have at least one NES game rarer than that, and it wouldn't pay my bills to sell it.
You guys know its a TV show, right?
Yep, it's a terrible tv show that lies a lot. Think that was the point of this video.
I don’t think Ken Goldin is helping himself with the show … I think the idea came in the pandemic bubble and we’re getting the product that the subsequent market created. The show is an advertisement for collectibles as an industry; didn’t go well in the 90’s, won’t go well until the next bubble.
I guess it makes sense for him to try to inflate everything if he’s getting a percentage of every sale it’s basically the same thing as the wata scam. Never even heard of this show, i love terrible shows and games so ill probably check it out
26:00 I bet it's fake "motion pictures" money.
its all about a high valuation.... insurance claim incoming.
I tried to watch the 1st season because im a card collector. Its absolute trash. I wasn't surprised, Ken Goldin was pimping crappy "classic" brand cards back in the 90s on QVC or some other home shopping "call now, while supplies last" outfits. He is gross.
You guys aren't sending your most pristine $20 bills to WATA for grading? Or at least any $2 bill laying around, you do realize they're worth like $2.32 right???? "Uncirculated, sealed money," 😂 gross
Now the actual numismatic collecting scene is as crazy as our hobby, probably worse.
Dude all these episodes are totally fake. It's crazy you guys think what happens is actually what's happening.
What happens in the collectibles world in reality is far worse than what’s in this show. Way more BS.
Like flies to sh!t, piles of money attract grifters. 🤔
Ooh, wow. Rare games on a Netflix show.
Sounds riveting.
I'm totally gonna watch this, just not right now, I've got some really important videos about clipping cat nails I've gotta watch first.
Just, wow, rare games on a Netflix show. Can't top that for -yawn-
Oh, sorry, I only got 9 hours of sleep last night. I'm not bored, I promise.
Just......gotta...... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Zoomer spotted. Go watch your twitchy videos where they talk obnoxiously fast and loud and cut the video every 5 seconds
Ummm share the link for the cat’s nails clipping video
Grading is such a scam
I have zero interest in shows like this. I saw a clip of Million Dollar Listing while channel surfing and it made me sick. I get the feeling the shows have a common element. Thanks but no thanks.
They look and the way they talk is slimy.
This guy’s still relevant? 💤
God these two are cringey
