You'll never get any artifacting if you light/expose properly, then set the dark mood in post like he did. In fact, if there was some artifacts, you'd be hiding them. Artifacts would be creeping in if you did the other way around (not enough light/bad exposure.. then bright it up in post would reveal and amplify those artifacts).
I think this is great video man. The fact it cost around a £1000 to create this is fantastic. It's definitely a point I've argued with so many people, that the lighting and tools aren't as important as knowing how to use them to create the look you want. Great work man.
Lol dude, this was an amazing match, done in your apartment... with one guy. The best experts will let you know that they will do whatever and use whatever to get the job done. People trying to impress will show off the most expensive equipment
The original red one mysterium The Social Network was shot on is probably cheaper than the Panny these days 😂 great work all the same brither, as always.
Love it! I thank you for this! This was VERY helpful to someone such as myself that is clueless about color grading! Actually, it's a game-changer for me! Very grateful and now a huge fan! Please keep this great info coming.
Brilliant stuff man. You have better taste in cameras than furniture. Do you find yourself wishing you had an external recorder ? Ive been going back and forth on the s5, the IPB compression is what makes me hesitate, but when i compared the all-i data rates of the s5 ii x and did the math on it, the resolution on a per frame basis was worse. To throw a wrench into all of this: do you think v-log vs standard profiles made a difference? Will check out the rest of your channel.
Looks great man! I think the Red is actually a touch softer. Did you add any denoising? That would soften the image just a little. I’d love to see it a little smoother but you nailed it!
I think the Red will just have a better image, combined with the better lighting, set etc. It's always going to look better than something shot in my living room 🤷🏽♂️👍
Always had faith in Panasonic cameras. Having everything figured out i dont get why they wouldn't invest in Sony level autofocus as they would rule the camera world if that were to happen 🥵
That's what I always say. You can archive some realy good pictures with normal equipment and lighting. Very cool Video, NEW SUBSCRIBER HERE GREAT CHANNEL
Yes, I've heard that and would do so in Resolve. Though in Premiere, I've found things work better if you follow the progression through Lumetri as layed out in the panels.
It's pretty close. fairly close. not very very close. but good. what you got wasn't thanks to the camera though. you could've gotten that with anything that shoots 1080p pretty much because there is no need for a lot of dynamic range - since there isn't much. higher bitrate, such as 10 bits is probably appreciated to get it nicely smooth. 4.2.2 is also kinda overkill for this low contrast. So yea, this was mostly skill, not camera. even my old XT2 could've done that I'm sure. BUT, skill is what you really want, camera is just a tool and camera's fade, skills do not. well done. was fun to watch.
You do know that Social Network 2010 version is a low quality feed don't you? So, you matched a 2021 camera to bad low dynamic range internet copy of a Hollywood movie?
@@CarterCreativeContent Merry Christmas. Actually yes. Transfer to DVD's are hit and miss. The DVD is not even close to being next to the source. I'm seeing major color shift in the highlights screen left (side of your face). Crushed shadows with zero color information, etc.
Just another example that it’s not about the tools, it’s about the master that’s using them🙌🏼🙌🏼🔥
Great video and result
Fellow S5 user. That was spot on. I'm impressed with how much detail was retained without artifact.

so good, full of inspiration!! thanks so much for this helpful and cool video! greetings from Berlin🌻

I think you did a great job and you make the grading seem so simple too - pretty cool how close you can get filming yourself at home.
Thanks, I think most things are way simpler than a lot of people make out 🤷🏽♂️😆

I couldn't believe how you made it, but it is same grades, great job man thanks a lot for showing how talent can make it
good job matching, and thanks for taking the time to share
Excellent job bro. Loved how you managed to get so close without using overly expensive equipment. 👍
Thank god, because I don't have any expensive equipment 🤷🏽♂️😆
Bro, this is next level! I wish I was this good at editing.
Great job. Really. I wish you could make some online workshop/tutorial for color grading. Also S5 user.
That’s amazing video and very good results! I like it. Thanks for sharing your experience
Thank you! Cheers!
Great job! I think I'm going to have a bash at doing similar fun tests. Cheers!
excellent - you got it...well done
NIce came out really good looking forward to more content.
Thanks, just uploaded another!
I love it!! Great work! :)
S5 is great camera! Best choice price/value in FF cameras market! :)
Totally agree!
Fucking great job mate! Looks great. And yeah, as you say, with a rimlight it would be almost spot on.

thanks for showing that process!

Appreciated 🙏
you make a great job
this looks really good and you did it quick. But you are suppose to do exposure corrections before applying the lut

in fact i like more your footage grading than the actual movie :)

Really Really Really close. Fair fucking play
Thanks!.....it's not bad for the equipment used ;-)
Wow so eye-opening

Actually no, I have the original on DVD. Merry Christmas 🎅🤣
