Thank you so much for filming this and allowing your cat to fully act on his instincts and not to take that experience away from him. Amazing relationship you have with your cat!
These orange tabbies are the most efficient hunters. Pretty much all cats are great at it, but orange striped cats seem to be the elite hunting force. To a human, it seems like he's just strolling down the lane, but in reality he's constantly scanning the environment and taking in ridiculously minute details that even the most attentive among us would miss. How this cat even noticed, let alone caught, a mouse hiding in tall grass, is completely beyond us. Even with our 5-foot height advantage over the cat, we still wouldn't notice it even if we were trying.
Its eyes are extremely sensitive to movement. And it has a much more acute sense of smell than ours. And moreover, its ears can hear much higher frequencies of sound than ours - up to 64 kHz, versus us topping out at 15-20 kHz (20 when kids, 15 when older) - where the majority of mouse vocalizations occur. All of these together with instinctive recognition of the tell-tale signs programmed right in would allow it to pick that mouse from the grass instantaneously while our eyes, noses, and ears cannot.
The morning after I brought in my window A/C, I found a DEAD MOUSE in my kitchen. My fluffy black female kitty named Winky Peaches killed the little varmint. " Good kitty!" and I petted her.
Wow! I grew up with cats and followed them around into the woods. I respect nature. I wouldn’t encourage my cats to catch birds etc, but if something like this happens, it happens. My cat’s happiness is paramount and I’m not going to make him feel intimidated for being a cat. ☺️
That cat has done exactly what cats were domesticated to do. Keeping house and surroundings pest-free. This cat here specialy is a pro at it. Most cats still play with their catch, till the prey is too exhausted to put up a fight. This cat was probably pretty hungry already. Nature and hunting, the best life one could offer to a house cat.
Eating mice and other small prey is what cats do NATURALLY and is not linked any so called “domestication”. Humans just happen to use them for our “pest problems”.
Really? From my experience brown tabbies are typically the best mousers. Probably because they have better camouflage as cats are by nature ambush predators
That was totally bad ass man. How the hell did that cat know where that mouse was? BAM and the mouse was caught in the grip of death. And then the best part, the cat ate his ass 😂 awesome video.
We used to go out for walks. We now live somewhere where I do have a small garden. He’s almost 17 now and doesn’t hunt, but he’s a very happy cat nonetheless! :)
I’d recommend that you remove the bell from your cat’s collar. A cat’s hearing is far more advanced than a human. It’s agonizing to them according to cat experts. I’m not an expert but simply repeating what I’ve learned. Also, they have a harder time eluding predators themselves with a bell ringing.
@@Steve197201 well, he doesn’t hunt now and he’s supposed to be on a kidney friendly diet, which he hates! But he looooves cod and I just have to give in, lol. He seems very healthy now, though, so apparently it’s not doing him any greater harm.
Great catch for a kittypet! He should join a clan in the woods or by the lake (It's just how far you are with the books) Anyone who reads Warriors knows what I'm speaking about ;)
Awe. What a beauty. It's almost like he's so happy to have caught the mouse he just has to tell you.
OnTheRocks I know right? I love cats.
Yum Yum
Yeah, I remember the ''hey, come check out what I got'' call.
Cats are always so affectionate after killing an animal.
Why not? They are happy and full!
That was a fast and efficient kill for a kittypet. he should join a clan if he hunts that well consistantly
Isaac MAIRBENDER yes that must be firepaw
OMG A WARRIOR CAT FAN :D
Maybe this is Rusty?
Oh my Starclan it's Rusty/Firepaw
Thats def firepaw
its so adorable how happy he was and kept rubbing up against you when he caught the mouse. he was so proud of it!
Poor mice

holy mother, those senses are like a radar..
A. Saleh yeah cats have better hearing than us. Hence the big ears
They use sonar to detect a pray using highly sophisticated sound mapping technology to increase tactical awareness of their surroundings.
this cat is trying to teach owner how to hunt....
Maybe. Thats so sweet of him.
Thank you so much for filming this and allowing your cat to fully act on his instincts and not to take that experience away from him. Amazing relationship you have with your cat!
Thanks, yes life with him has been really good! And even better in his old age :).
And that is why you never see a mouse in a bodega.
Tom wins this time jerry
OMG yes lol
Xd
Real life Tom and Jerry: it turns out mice can’t actually pick up large mallets from offscreen.
Tom always wins in real life !
Awww, he ADORES you. Follows you around without leash and all, I can see you two have a great bond.
Thank you! ❤️ Yes, we do, and it has only gotten better in our old age now it’s just the two of us. 🥰☺️
He looks like Garfield 😊 what a cutie pie kitty.
Samantha Wilson I was thinking the same thing! If only the mouse could’ve distracted him with a tray of lasagna.
What a hunter. RIP Mousey
The kill is even more impressive factoring in the -5 penalty to stealth that the jingle necklace brings.
That's what I was thinking.
That Mouse has skills issues
He claimed his prize.
That cat is so flipping cute and he’s got a super crazy tail. Orange cats built different with that tail

Racist to the color
They have also extremely accute sense of smell - outclassing dogs by far actually. I would not be surprised if that is how he detected it.

@@linasky1040 wtf?
Holy crap, are you talking about a high efficient assassin or a cat.
Hey mom, let me stop for a snack real quick! *pounce*
That is 100% better for kitties to catch and eat mice than store bought cat food. 🐈
What a handsome kitty!
Mr Friskies found himself a road treat.

Just ate the bones and everything!? Damn
why not? it's a good calcium!
Off course, where else would he be getting his calcium? Not milk since cats are lactose intolerant
This is amazing. I love it.
A Great Cat is to be Cherished He showed you affection and love Yes you can't put a monetary value on a Loveable huggable Cat
I'm more impressed with the owner. You didn't yell, you didn't scream "PUT IT DOWN". You let the cat do its thing and he loves you for it.

Such a cute but effective killing machine !
Circle of life. 🐁🚫 Super cute orange tabby! 😻
That was quick!
No cat and mouse routine, just catch and eat!
Wow How Fast He Seen it and Caught it....Amazing....Love The Way Cats Lift up Front Paw as They Are About to Pounce...Adorable
This is how every episode of “Tom and Jerry” should have ended!
wow, your cat is quite the hunter!
Cat never forgot his predator nature
The wagging tail as he dined upon his victim. So content!
Mouse is a paid actor.
Right next to tuxedo cats these orange tabbies are my favorite they're so well skilled in hunting
I.M. POOL And it seems that gingers are the friendliest too! This one chats all the time and loves humans unconditionally. :)

He didn't expect that on his walk. That's a nice cat.
He’s such a dear boy. 15 now and my loyal Covid companion, always by my side.
It looks like the kitty has decided to eat an early breakfast.
Best life for CAT 👍🏻
Its firepaw❤❤❤ like if u know what im taking about
Kay Jay I do and I love those books
Me
It's Rusty first cause he's currently a kittypet
Eye sights sharper than a sniper rifle!
Aww i love it that pur meow sound
I had an orange tabby cat like him, years ago, and he was an extreme good hunter. Although he didn’t ate is prey.
Cat: is nature's most perfect killing machine
Owner: aw what a good boy, aren't we cute
I’m sure the paradox is one of the many things that fascinate us…

He most likely heard it, cats have excellent hearing
Amazing you should be very proud of your cat!
Awww sweet orange boy. He catches the mouse and then is like “hey ma, look what I got!! You want some?? Look what I did!:):)”
The one episode that didn’t get aired on Tom and Jerry
The end lol… 😳🙃
Sometimes it must be fun to be a cat.
Little did we know the cat will soon run away and meet a group of cats called thunderclan, and be the one to save all four clans
Was looking for this comment
Unreal how it knew the mouse was there! Also lightning fast speed it used to catch it. Unbelievable predator!
That was pretty awesome
nice cat
Aww i love how he/she rubs against your legs like she gave you food
It’s firepaw before he joined thunder clan
Thats a great cat
What a good hunter😊
Do you have a massive garden or does your cat accompany you on walks?
Cats go outside alone mostly then come back home after, well most cats
I get it! Same reason that small insect-eating birds (fantails) follow you when you're out and about.

Gosh, well, I tend not to think about my boy's hunting experience when kissing him on the mouth or when he licks me 🤦🏻♀️
Angelica AH everytime they touch something they lick it off
I think my cats to fat to hunt but we have a tiny grey cat he’s the cute one and the fat one he’s cute too but he always sleeps lol.
Awww what a cute little cat😍😍

Judging by the size, as well as the short tail, and dumpy body shape, I’d say that’s a field vole not a mouse
Beautiful Kitty
Had you never had to buy cat food again
I love those books.
Firestar?
XD
Rusty's first catch ;)
Teressa Wynne-Rose no it's a kittypet
Jawar5 yep when rusty left smudge when he was a kittypet
A true hunter
Man wasted almost no time. I've seen cats go on for a good while before chowing down, he just celebrated and then went at it.
Same as the Tiger, Leopard or Lion! the best hunters !
"Look mommy look at what I caught!"
Its firestar! any one else read warrior cat??
Food prices went up, soon the cats will be the ones feeding the hoomans.
What if the mouse was carrying a disease??

What their ancestors have done for a thousand years.

Is it good for cat's health? Mice are filty...
Here's how much fuck I give: 0 it's their natural food
Mice in the countryside are not filthy, you wish your hair was as shiny and healthy as theirs. They are not sewer rats.
