There's nothing worse than a phobia, a fear that controls your life to the point where you aren't able to experience new things or even enjoy yourself. The fact that these guys got to that theme park let alone on that roller coaster without giving in to that inner voice telling them not to, goes to show how willing they are to overcome their fears.

Start on smaller coasters at a park closest to you-even if it means the kiddie coaster. Ride it 3-4 times and ask yourself: "was it really that bad?" "Was it enjoyable and fun?" And if you liked it move on to the family coaster like mine train coasters or wild mouse coasters. Ask the same questions then go from there. I love roller coasters (obviously). I enjoy high G-forces and the adrenaline you get from them. Start small then work your way forward. They really are exhilarating!!!

I do have a fear of rollercoasters (mainly the drop) as my body seems to traumatized by how fast I’m going down that I feel unsafe and uncomfortable. If the drop wasn’t so high and fast, I wouldn’t mind rollercoasters, but that’s pretty much the main reason I absolutely hate going on them. I’m not necessarily afraid of heights (for example, I love water slides, no matter how high they are. At first I used to hate them because they gave me the same feeling as a rollercoasters, but for some reason, I find water slides more entertaining that I don’t mind them being hundreds of feet of the ground. It’s a whole new experience. Most people say that people get coasterphobia because they have acrophobia but that’s not the case for me. I don’t mind heights (as long as I’m not on the tip of a cliff) Other then that, I do have severe arachnophobia and that last clip where they RANDOMLY PUT A TARANTULA MOVING AND TAKING UP THE SCREEN MADE ME HELLA PARANOID. My body began to shake within a second of me seeing it :-:

I actually used the breathing patterns he suggested to the students before I went to six flags, it was so bad that I cried when I went on radiator springs racers at Disneyland, so when I went, it was a school trip we were in the bus and I started breathing really hard and I felt numb and I was shaking. But after realizing my situation I realized people do this for fun so I decided I need to relax and try it, so I did and I actually loved it! The thing was the drops that hurt my stomach, and although I felt the drops and hated the feeling I actually liked it right after I got off it’s a fun thrill so I’m definitely proud of them! I also recommend it!

My friends tell me I'm lame, or too chicken, I understand it's a joke but it gets discouraging especially for others. Even now I get nervous at the thought of going to Knott's or six flags. When I'm at an amusement park I hear the screams pass by, I see my friends go on the fast rollercoasters, and then there's me holding their bags. At the end of the ride they come back, completely ignoring me and wanting to go again. I couldn't handle the tea cups when I was younger. It feels impossible trying to calm down in exchange for a good day at the amusement park. I can't do it, no, I can't.

Mel Is Simple my school does trips to cedar point and I understand your struggle! I went on a fair amount of roller coasters with my friend (all terrifying me) and I’d lie about saying that I enjoyed it. My friends went on bigger 300ft roller coasters and I basically held their stuff for 2 hours.

My friends love going on all the extreme rides, but I don't. When we went to a carnival they wanted to go on an upside down roller coaster and I didn't only because it looked kinda dodgy and I was worried it would break of something. My friends get really frustrated that I don't want to go on the rides with them. It's really annoying 😑 (like if this happens to you)

Why is this guy obsessed with Millennium Force? If you want to break people of a fear of rollercoasters, I don't think sticking them on MF or TTD is the best idea as their first ride - unless you intend to scare them off even further.
Rollercoasters are something you need to work your way up with.

How to face fears in ohio

  • @terrillt1998
    @terrillt1998 7 лет назад +43

I was hella afraid of roller coasters for 16 years. Now I'm 18 and I went to Knotts, Universal Studios, and Six flags. The mummy ride was my first when I was 16 and it was my birthday so I went to Universal Studios. And I have to say ladies and gentlemen that the only way to overcome the fear or having anxiety of roller coasters is to get on it period. Just say in your head before you even get in line "... I'm going to do this" now when you're on the roller coaster and when you're going up you're probably thinking repeatedly " Damn it this is it. Oh S@&!" and it's totally cool because guess what. You're already on the top staring down looking over the whole scenery. Then the best part (for a few people until you get used to it) is the drop and for the rest of the ride instead of still panicking you're actually going to smile and scream with enjoyment. After that first ride your jaw will drop and then you will say ".... omg ... I just did that ... I'm definitely going on that ride again" then you're already on your way overcoming your fears and instead of ditching out on your friends/family and making some excuse to leave so you won't get on the ride, you will do the exact opposite. Roller coasters might look scary up front, but once you're on it ... it's a whole different story 😊. Yes roller coasters are fast and yes it looks scary but please trust me as I say to go on it and you will love it ... unless you're just not the type of person who likes riding roller coasters which is cool and there's nothing wrong with that. Hey ... if these college students did it, plus it took me 16 years to get on one of those bad boys and now I really like riding roller coasters, ... so can you my friend. Also unless you're over weight (400+) which makes the carriage jump around or shifts and the ride isn't in the best condition then there's absolutely no way you can die, get injured, etc. All I have to say is to get on and enjoy the ride. Don't try to hang on to the bar thinking it's the end ... just let go and embrace the awesomeness of riding a roller coaster. (Just do it) - Nike Slogan.

As a Coaster Fanatic myself I love seeing people overcome their fear's and finally experience the Thrill of the Rides.

@@andreasanchez1453 Well, there's not really a lot to say. If you're afraid for Safety Reasons then there's not much to say other then Coasters are Designed with Rider Safety first in mind. There's more to get into detail about this but I'd digress.
If it's more about the Forces Involved or the Speed/Height of the Rides or just Irrational Fear of them there's really no good Advice besides go and try them. I'd recommend starting with smaller more Family oriented Coasters and working your way up from there.
I used to be afraid of Coasters myself, until my mum tricked me into going onto one without telling me it's one. (It was a Darkride completely inside a Building)
Also going with a Friend or with Family who know the Park and it's Coasters could help, provided they are supportive of your endeavour of course. If someone knows the Park you're going to they could Provide proper Advice on what Coasters are good for beginners or to overcome the fear of them.
Apologies for my shoddy english, it's not my first language and I'm already struggling with my native language, but I try my best.
Also apologies for the late replies, I get so many notifications on YT that I barely check the bell anymore so comment replies tend to slip past me the first day's or so.
If you've got further Questions about any of the things I've mentioned I can go into further Detail if that helps you. But it may sound simple however the best thing you can do is to just say "f*ck it" and go onto one.

The anticipation is the worst part. Sitting in the seats waiting for it to go up the lift hill is the worst part. If you get over that you’re golden.

I think for every ride, it wouldn't hurt if the intercom person said something like everyone, plz be patient. A person will check every one last of you to see if everything tight and secure asap. The lock will set in afterwards. After that, only then you will all take off. Enjoy ur ride. Something like that. Bc thats gotta calm them down some b4 the paranoia starts to sets in

People can’t control what they’re afraid of, sometimes your fears are so hard that you need to get some help from others to get over them. You have to look at the persons point of view before stating such an amateur opinion

I'm only scared of them because I see all these videos on how roller coasters break and people die and I always think I'm gonna die. I'm gonna overcome my fear at some point tho... i hope 😅

Jolyette Rollercoasters are probably safer than driving a car if that makes you feel any better. Lol.

Jolyette If you live ride a roller coaster in the US, you are completely safe!

You are actually more likely to die by falling off your couch than on a roller coaster

As these people have said, roller coaster deaths in North America are almost non existant. Per capita you are monumentally more likely to die in a car accident.

Jolyette Tomorrow I'm going to lake Winnie in Tennessee... I'm trying to face my fear of rollercoasters and hights.... I'm going in the rollercoasters there and the drop ride called the oh - zone... It sends you up 14 stories in the air and drops you down at 58 miles per hour.... I hope i can over come my fear... Wish me luck..
