“I was simply blown away when I found that Kurt Cobain liked my work, and have always wanted to talk to him about his reasons for covering ‘The Man Who Sold the World’” and that “it was a good straight forward rendition and sounded somehow very honest.” -David Bowie

David loved to talk about the things in the world that drove his own creativity, and him, as a person , he had a genuine passion for film, music, art, dance, philosophy… I think that Kurt would have found a very good friend in David. It’s kind of sad to me that a lot of highly intelligent, thoughtful, creative Americans turn to the intellectual black holes that are Thompson and Burroughs..really because they don’t know any better..the search for depth and meaning is going to end up going nowhere with those guys. It’s really a symptom of the perpetual dumbing down of America.. when somebody comes along who starts to question the bs, fill ‘em with drugs and send them to Hunter or Bill.

"That was great, because it got rid of all the guys with hairspray and leotards. Then Kurt came in like a phoenix. He cut them down like wheat before the sickle. CURRRRSHHHHHH You are done"
-Tom Petty on the early 90's

      😂
When asked about In sync and Backstreet Boys on a late night show Tom Petty said something like "I like musicians that actually play instruments, not 4 guys in sweaters"

I recall a great story Kirk told of Kurt at a Metallica show in Seattle, requesting them to play his favorite song "Whiplash" from the front row.

From September of 1991 when Nevermind was released to April of 1994 was ONLY 2 1/2 years (less actually, 2 years and 5 months). Not even Hendrix or Morrison rose to living legend status that fast and in such a way (although that was generally a 3 year time span also).
Cobain wanted to be Mudhoney big, not Nirvana big. His rise as a front man and focal point was extremely fast and extremely huge. That would fuck anyone up.
Cobain was only known to the broader world and alive for 2 years and 5 months.

Can you do a video on Tommy Hansen? He was Layne, Kurt, and Lanegan's dealer and wrote a book called "American Junkie". He also played guitar in a local seattle band around the and before the "Grunge" explosion.

Dave 😭 Man, that guy has been THROUGH IT! Kurt and then Taylor, while always being spoken of as the nicest guy in rock, and generally just a good person. I really hope everyone is watching and helping him. I know he & the band wouldn’t want to let fans down, but I don’t think they should be touring yet. He’ll be getting a temporary distraction that could lead him down a really dark path. Even if you aren’t a FF fan, please show support and kindness, in whatever way that is, if he in some form enters your world, even if it’s just watching a YT video like this. I know this is about Kurt, (where you can see him struggling to get any words out), but he had decades with Taylor who was also his best friend. I’m worried about him, and if he “looks fine”, then I’m very worried 💔
I hope Lars meant what he said. I’m a fan, seen them live etc., but let’s face it, they aren’t known for being nice. James shat over Layne when he was struggling and then had the audacity to play AIC’s songs after he passed. ❌

Those were sacrifices. Dave isn’t even close to who you think he is. He signed the Faustian deal. He made a movie called Studio 666. It’s in plain sight.

okay bands like Metallica and i hve seen clips of james and others mocking him, phil from pantera insulted him on stage but his peers esp Eddie Vedder {from Pearl Jam} and all the othrs generally cared about the man behind the music yes he had his problems yes he had his demons we all do its calld life... r.i.p Kurt Donald Cobain...

This is the only interview with Phil Anselmo that I like what he has to say. He's right, from the fall of 91 when Nevermind came out to April of 94 was only around 2 1/2 years, and Cobain skyrocketed overnight to living legend frontman status, faster than Hendrix, or Morrison or anyone. Cobain wanted to be Mudhoney big, not Nirvana big.
Phil Anselmo is an overall douche bag and I don't think all that highly of Metallica from what I've seen of them, but absolutely not Phil Anselmo

Lars didn't get what Nirvana was doing because Metallica has maybe 0.0000000001% of the musical and writing talent that Nirvana had. Nirvana = Great song writing. Metallica = rehashed boring metal crap.

    • @cunningstunt69
      @cunningstunt69 5 месяцев назад +1

Yea idk about that, both bands were great you must have not heard their first five albums of theirs if you say they suck at songwriting, the reason nirvana didn’t have any bad albums was because they only had 3 albums, if you cut Metallica off after their first 3 albums they’d still be legends as well! Nirvana was great but they were not a perfect band either
