Can’t believe it’s been 30 years. I was a junior in high school. Then there was Layne on the same date in 2002. Those guys changed the landscape of rock.
I remember it vividly, going to see wrestle mania 10 and a friend telling me about Kurt's suicide. And now, 30 years later, I'm getting ready for wrestle mania 40! Where does the time go?
My god!! Im 42yrs old and used to love wrestling when it was the WWF. I've completely lost touch with it over the last 25yrs. Is Wrestlemania still going? And number 30? Wow!
I stepped off the bus from high school and my friends were waiting for me to tell me that Kurt had been found dead. I didn't really believe it until I got to my other friends house and MTV was on his TV. We just sat in his living room the entire weekend watching MTV.
I remember where is was the day the news broke over the airwaves. I was with my first girlfriend in Washington DC at a record store called Commander salamander. The moment the word was out , two young punk girls that were working behind the counter , broke out into tears and hugged each other while the guys , including me just seem to freeze in time. Sadness wasn’t the word to describe my feelings and anger wasn’t close enough either. After losing my mother in 93 right after my 13th birthday, to losing my only hero ,ever, just months after, ripped my life apart. I learned very early in life, nothing is promised to you and the world owes you nothing.
Whew. I had to fight back the tears on that one. Excellent job on your documentary. We miss you so much Kurt...that has not changed a bit in 30 years.😢

Was only 3 years old when he died. Age 13 I picked up a guitar once I heard nirvana, he continues to influence new generations and will do so until the end of time
I always felt that while Dimebag’s loss was tragic and sad, the impact was larger on musicians, guitarists in particular. Cuz he wasn’t so much a personality as he was an astounding guitar player and leader of sorts in the field. His band itself was the movement of the time. No single piece, but a sum of three parts. That’s why, IMO, so many were against this “reunion”. But please don’t get me wrong, he was a stellar guitar player. A “god” Some might say. Stop there or I’ll ruin any point I might have been making haha, and just start pissing people off. And I’m not really a shit stirrer.
Can't even describe how important Nirvana is to me. Not only loving their music but they opened my eyes to other genres like punk rock , new wave , alternative ect and I'll always be thankful for that. Been listening to them for the last 14-15 years now and honestly I don't think it'll ever get old. RIP Kurdt
Decided to go to Seattle on vacation this week. I grew up on 90’s music and took a rock tour (Stalking Seattle). Saw Kurt’s house and the park next to it, went to Layne’s condo and the Moore Theater where Mad Season played. Black Dog Forge where PJ and Soundgarden practiced. The MoPop Museum has a Nirvana exhibit with the first Sub Pop contract Nirvana signed pre Grohl and a lot of other cool stuff. I didn’t realize at the time it was Kurt’s 30th anniversary, man what a special week. RIP Kurt and Layne!

Kurt may have wanted to be successful, but that depends on what your perception of "success" truly is. I think that if Nevermind sold 50,000, the amount that the experts believed it would sell, he would have been happy. He wanted to be successful in the alternative world, not this cultural icon. Kurt, forever remembered, you are a historical figure, innovator and cultural mover. A vital stepping stone to human evolution. 30 years ago, you showed us that it’s okay to be vulnerable, weak and unsure at times. Showing us to wear it on the outside, communicating to others that we are the same. Kurt, you are a vital contribution to human empathy
Born in April 91' so i was far too young to know what was going on during that time. I discovered Kurt & Nirvana after he had passed as a young kid, and i vaguely remember hearing a song off Nevermind (Teen Spirit or Come as You Are.. i really can't remember) But i remember feeling something i hadn't felt before hearing music.I was raised by a single mom, so all I recall hearing was country and the Christian radio station. So hearing something like that from a friend i had made in school was mind-blowing. I just remember thinking, "I like this. This is me. "
I heard about it on the radio on 9th April 1994 - I was in Australia and it was the pre-internet era. The announcer said what was going to be played that night and "sadly some Nirvana".
I was only 9 when Kurt left this earth. But he was the first person I idolized. Nirvana had the biggest influence on who I am today. Good and bad. Never feeling comfortable with myself. Even amongst freinds, I felt like an outsider. But I knew, listening to Nirvana, there was a place out there for people like me.
i remember walking into my aunts house and she rented a room out to this guy named robert and he was a total rocker metalhead and i came in being loud and he was listening to his little boombox radio and he shooshed me and told me to be quiet cause he was trying to listen and thats when i heard the news that kurt had been found dead.ill never forget. robert took it hard it was like his dog had just died. rip kurt your legacy lives on.

I don't think it was an autobiography. Chris Cross wrote it I think? The closest to autobiography is his Journals that they put out year later. I had a copy but my home flooded in Nov 2020 and I sadly lost alot of my music collection. But it was definitely great if you want inside the mind of the man.
I enjoyed reading his final actions and movement of what he was doing that only Kurt would know. Or how good Courtney looks in the ambulance despite just waking up in perfect make up at 4am..5am or 6am. Check out the P.I. hired Courtney Love named Tom Grant or RUclipsr AmericanSpyFox. It isn't a tin foil hat of group of fans. His uncle Gary, his paternal grandfather, two retired SPD officers have stepped forward named Norm Stamper and Neil Low, friends of both Kurt and Courtney, former nannies/employees, and according Tom Grant the ex-mother-in-law of Frances Cobain's Mary Silva said that Wendy told her "They killed my baby.". It's not just a tin foil hat conspiracy theory.
I was a sophomore in high school. As the word spread, the mood around campus went from normal to total, absolute and utter shock real quick. And then it stayed that way on campus for the rest of the week.
I've outgrown Nirvana's music, but still I can't believe it's been 30 years since his death. I envy those who got to see them live at least once (I was born in fall of 1993)
...living in Malaysia, i remember the first time i listened to Teen Spirit and the full Nevermind album as a whole, i was in Primary 5 in my Primary School days, it blew my mind. Back then in those days in Malaysia, we can only afford to buy it on cassette tape.
I can tell you what Kurt’s legacy is 30 years later. A couple of banal rock radio hits that receive inflated numbers on streaming media mainly due to a small cult of semi-conscious devotees, continued cult status due to aging sycophant journalists who act as priests cleaving to a dying religion, and a guy in his 30s still trying to sue Cobain’s estate for depicting him nude as a baby on Nirvana’s “iconic” album. And this is coming from a Gen Xer who was waterboarded with Nirvana’s music by the media through my early to mid teens. Nirvana was a cultural black hole that sucked the life out of rock music and paved the way for what passes as music today. As for all the celebs depicted in this video, in the immortal words of Voltaire, “He was a great patriot, a humanitarian, a loyal friend; provided, of course, he really is dead.”
Is funny you know today is my birthday and kurt Cobain was very important to me, special in my writting, music taste and style to be. I love is work and is impact on my life. Legends never die.
Was 14 and must had been on spring break. Freshman in H.S. My dad was a foreman and he took me to his job site that day. I was sitting in the car listening to our local alternative station when the news broke. Shook my little world then.
This day is forever burned into my brain. I remember watching the coverage of Kurt's death on MTV & not being able to make sense of it. It was surreal. For those of us who felt like outsiders, bands like Nirvana, Sonic Youth, The Cure, & countless others, provided us with a sense of belonging. I'm closer to 50 than I care to admit, but I still find solace in Kurt's music when things get tough. He was a brilliant songwriter.
I can't believe it's been that long...it still feels like yesterday to me 😢 I wished he would have hung in there just sometimes the pain is way too much to bear. If you look closely at Kurt's life the poor guy never really had a chance and it goes back to when he was a child. RIP Kurt Cobain I miss you....thank you so much for sharing your amazing music with us all.

This is me. "
Can't believe its 30 years ago. Such a loss to the world.
RIP Kurt Cobain ur music is amazing and wish we could hear more
Fun fact: all of Nirvana’s albums were recorded and mixed on analog tape.
They never went digital.
…
That means nothing, they are not better for having done only analog
Agreed. And countless other bands also done the same back then. No achievement whatsoever. @@haerfgvbag7050

Who cares? Their last actual album was released in 1993... Maybe if they were still around in the late '90s or early '00s that would mean something.
Dave knew the rules of selling out and he does it very well
i remember walking into my aunts house and she rented a room out to this guy named robert and he was a total rocker metalhead and i came in being loud and he was listening to his little boombox radio and he shooshed me and told me to be quiet cause he was trying to listen and thats when i heard the news that kurt had been found dead.ill never forget. robert took it hard it was like his dog had just died. rip kurt your legacy lives on.
Wish so much that we could’ve had him longer. Loved his songs.
God I remember like it was yesterday Rest In Peace🙏😥👼🪽 Kurt ❤Love you and your music you will never be forgotten you will live forever in ur music ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rip and Layne and Kurt
i just read his autobiographical book ,, Heavier Than Heaven ''. Very good writer and heartbreaking story about sensitive man
I didn’t even know that existed, I’m gonna order the book too
@@ansjeliek i wasnt even a big nirvana fan but now i think i am because of this book and kurts persona
I don't think it was an autobiography. Chris Cross wrote it I think? The closest to autobiography is his Journals that they put out year later. I had a copy but my home flooded in Nov 2020 and I sadly lost alot of my music collection. But it was definitely great if you want inside the mind of the man.
@@cjmitch91 charles r. cross. Its one of the official biographies of kurt i think
3 decades ago, I was 15. What a time to be a teenager.
Kurt’s legacy still lives on forever, touching other musicians out there inspired by him
Rest in Peace, Kurt 🙏🕊️🪦💐
I cannot believe it’s been 30 years!! All the amazing music he could have produced in those decades! So sad 😥 we will ALL miss you Kurt!
I was a sophomore in high school. As the word spread, the mood around campus went from normal to total, absolute and utter shock real quick. And then it stayed that way on campus for the rest of the week.
I've outgrown Nirvana's music, but still I can't believe it's been 30 years since his death. I envy those who got to see them live at least once (I was born in fall of 1993)
You cannot outgrow Nirvana, their music is timeless
@79eyre I meant Nirvana isn't one of my favorite bands anymore (I used to listen to them when I was a teenager)
That was wonderful! Thank u for the video! He will always be a part of our generation.
...living in Malaysia, i remember the first time i listened to Teen Spirit and the full Nevermind album as a whole, i was in Primary 5 in my Primary School days, it blew my mind. Back then in those days in Malaysia, we can only afford to buy it on cassette tape.
Rest easy Kurt and Layne. 💙
Chris Cornell, Chester Bennington, and so many legends that died too
🖤
@@pabloruiz6224 they didn't die on April 5th. Only Kurt and Layne
I Need to stop watching these vids they always make me cry
Iconic. A cold april morning turned into a nightmare.
*Kurt Cobain, was and still is a legend now matter how long he passed away there was something about his voice that I love his music.*
Kurt R.I.P brother. Your music still inspires many. Nirvana is #1 band that changed me and helped me in many. Still does today. Long live rock n roll. Screw mainstream.
I wasn’t alive when kurt passed but if i had been i would have cried. Nirvana has been one of my biggest influences ever. I’ll never forget the first time that i heard the album nevermind and learned the story of kurt cobain. I just wish that he hadn’t left so soon
R.I.P Kurt 🎸❤️😔
I was 10 years old when I found out Kurt Cobain passed away.😔🪦 I felt the whole world ended when I watched the MTV Breaking News!😫🌎 30 years later I still miss him. He was the reason why I wanted to play the guitar!🎸
R.I.P. Kurt we love you, thank you for everything you brought to us. Thank you for changing music to its best ❤❤❤❤❤
Man, even though I wasn’t alive when Nirvana was successful. I do know good music when I hear it. Kirk Cobain is definitely one of the most talented musicians of all time.
Kirk? In the words of Boe Jiden "C'mon man!"
@@wildcardartsentkurt hammett and kirk cobain
Kurt was it and he never wanna be it... And definitely not a group with fans that would have been bullying him in his puberty 😢 I'm to young for the hype only 7 when he died but I think he is still the last real rockstar
RIP LAYNE AND KURT.
I was eleven years old in 1994 when Kurt Cobain died at the age of twenty. My youngest brother had turned thirteen years old and my oldest brother was fourteen years old and was almost fifteen.
He was 27.
RIP Kurt Cobain from Chile 🇨🇱😢😢😢
This was nice to see today, I miss Kurt everyday, I miss that excitement of the first time listening to these albums, every listen got better and better and it was a very exciting time for music. Rip Kurt❤
RIP Kurt, you’re missed. 💐
Kurt’s legacy will live on for generations to come.
Kurt. I never knew you, but I miss you.
Greatly missed and appreciated
Back when Curt was alive the world was better😢❤
love u kurt and miss u. wish u were still here. also, i like how they showed different artists talking about him, its nice. i also like the deftones in the background at 9:51 lol.
Wow 😮, 30 years later, where has the time gone? When I heard the news 🗞️ of Kurt’s passing, it put me in a funk 😒 for awhile. Always loved Nirvana’s music back in that time period. I don’t listen 🎧 too much anymore. Every now and then, I’ll listen 👂 to a track or two. It still saddens me though. I truly hope that Kurt’s found true peace ☮️.
I remember it like it was yesterday.
The world stood still for high fans, shocked and devastated walk around in a daze, panic because you just didn't want to believe what you were hearing,so you turn on the TV and then it hits you,to your knees screams and tears, you will never forget this day as long as you live
I knew the “hits” throughout the years growing up and what not but around 2017 I saw Montage of Heck and immediately wanted to learn those songs and play guitar. Being left handed I was just super inspired to learn and play and have been ever since. Thanks Kurdt!
Wow actually watching this on his actual anniversary of his death April 8th 2024 Rip to Kurt Cobain Can’t believe he died 30 years ago when I was years old
So heartbreaking 💔
30 years ago today the world lost Kurt Cobain💔😭
