Thanks Brenda. Yes I hand raised him. I ensure he is included in all my time at home (he even has a shower with me everyday - he loves it!). Spuds speech is very clear - I always make sure I articulate words very clearly when I speak to him. He does the same sounds when I scratch him that your pookie does - just adorable!
do you pet him?? We did ours..had to build up confidence as i so respect that beak! You have really shown us how much they can talk with consistent love and care..just awesome!! Are you on FB yet? Pookie needs to see your Spud!! LOL
Isabelle Hudson 2 months old is still a baby so he/she should already be pretty tame. best thing to do is to spend a LOT of time with it. Birds are vocal and enjoy being talked to. If for some reason he/she isn't tame the first step is to sit at the cage a lot and talk to him, if he takes food from your hand, offer him treats. He needs to know you are all things good. :) There are fantastic sites that show step by step training and bonding processes. One of the best ways is ABA training. facebook.com/groups/413290835439436/
i have a same blue one around 7 months old and a green one around a year old, theyre both scared of us how can we train them, ensure were safe towards them and the only thing we want to do is play with them hand feed them etc.
@cawv98 Spud is almost two years... Training just involves patience - say simple things over & over again. Every few weeks Spud surprises me with new words he has been secretly practicing!
i love the voices on these Indian Ringnecks more than the larger breeds of parrots
The clarity of his speech is remarkable O.O
Thank you! This was taken when he was just a baby... He is 5 this year! And he is an even better talker now! But still camera shy!
