- Hello Bowie fans!! Finally got him talking on video - he's gotta be feeling pretty good to start chatting. He likes it when i call him "sweetie pie"

My wife lost her mother a couple of years ago and our parrot would comfort her if she saw her crying. She'd walk up to her face and say "its ok. Its ok baby" and kiss her. Sweetest thing ever. That bird still tries to comfort sad people that way. She's a quaker so she can be moody but if you're sad she's always very concerned.

He actually seems to understand what he's saying. He even waved goodbye twice at the camera with his foot! Such a cute intelligent cheeky boy!
Birds do, birds like that have the intelligence of a 7 year old human child. And, birds like lovebirds have the intelligence of a 4 year old child. How you may ask, they have more nurons per sq inch than humans do.
A few handfuls of idiots think that when a bird imitates human speech that they don’t understand what they are saying. In my opinion they do. I believe that they do understand what they are saying. They hear that one sentence or handfuls of words every day multiple times a day and not long after they begin to comprehend what those words and sentences mean. They then begin to use those words and phrases to communicate with their owner. They are a very intelligent animal.

Birds with higher intelligence such as parrots, parakeets, ravens, and corvids have the ability to understand emotions to include but not limited to: sadness, happiness, remorse, laughter, and joy. And yes, they are sentiant. How else would they be able to recognize others in a flock when they have a less than adequate sense of smell.
It's almost like he really has his own personality the way he knows how to use the right words and carries on a whole conversation with you. They are really smart.
